This video easily surpasses most travel guide videos made with much higher production budgets. Amazing work, video footage, overall attention to detail and documentation of links provided in the description. I've been to Seoul many times before, but even I found some things I've overlooked in my prior travels. I've said this before and I'll say it again, the Korea Tourism Organization should sponsor this channel 👍
Wow thanks so much for the kind words @ICDeadPeeps! You made our day! There are so many things to see in Seoul, and we're going to highlight the lesser known places as well later on!
My husband came across this video while planning our next visit to Seoul. We have been back many times but wanting to know what is new, our search brought us to this channel. This is the best video we have watched when planning a trip to Seoul! The insight and knowledge of the areas, their history, backgrounds, tips only locals know, and all the additional information you would give to a friend visiting this amazing city are all here. This is an outstanding guide to the city you would only get after reading many guide books, and watching many videos. The visual of the areas and subway maps are very helpful. Wow. I think Seoul Tourism should work with you. Thank you so much~!
@lovesbeautiful1004 thanks so much for watching and for the kind words! Much appreciated! Really glad that it was helpful too, and have an amazing trip to Seoul!
I lived in Korea for 6 months and am now going back for the first time since, this video really helped me plan my trip and enabled me to show my loved ones every facet of Seoul. Thank you so much!
@@kimcristina wow thank you so much for your generosity and support! Will use it as motivation to keep learning and improving and add your name to the end if that's okay! So happy that you guys got to visit Seoul and Busan! Hope you guys had a nice trip, and take care eh!
I've been planning a 1 month trip to seoul, taipei and japan, watched dozens of travel guides but this is by far the best I've ever seen. Simple, thoughtful and with dozens of instructions. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into this.
I lived and worked in Seoul for 11 years, and I think this video is a fantastic guide! It certainly hits the most important highlights of the city and a lot more. It covers some things I didn't even know about! Of course, Seoul is so big that there are many things that you can see and do that aren't mentioned here, depending on your interest or taste, but if you do even 75% of these recommendations, you will have a very good feel for Seoul and its version of Korean culture today. One suggestion (which might already be covered in another video?) is to offer some tips and strategies for people who have dietary restrictions (vegetarians and vegans). Seoul is swimming in great places to eat if you can eat anything, but if you don't eat meat or seafood, it can be very frustrating to have a whole street full of restaurants but realize there is nothing that you can eat at any of them!
Thanks so much for watching and for the kind words @ojotut! And as you certainly know from living here for 11 years, there are so many amazing areas in Seoul that aren't a part of this video as well, but a lot of these places are good for people new to Korea I think. Also thanks for the input about dietary restrictions. I am going to make a separate video just to make it easy for people to search for, as like you said there is no "easy" way to travel here with dietary restrictions, and I think it requires a specific guide to make it easier. Take care and thanks again!
This is so much better than any other videos I have seen on this topic in YT. I especially appreciate the thoughtful components such as maps, historical context and correct pronunciation of Korean names for places.
Wow Matty!! You have done an amazing amount of work to make this excellent video!! It’s such a thorough summary with so much information a tourist will enjoy when visiting this country. We have watched this several times and want to use it next time we come!! You have always loved Korea and its people✨🌷 Thank you Yujin for your support too!!💫
Sorry for the multiple comments, but I have 2 suggestions for Gangnam: 1) Olympic Park which I enjoyed more than Seoul Forest and has a really cool history museum onsite; 2) Bangee (probably spelled it wrong) Food Market Street located between Lotte World Mall and Olympic Park. First half of the market is more modern and upscale and once you cross over the main street, the other side of the market is more old school Korean market feel. I found some really good places to eat in both sections worth checking out.
No worries at all @ICDeadPeeps and thanks for the suggestions! Agree that Olympic Park is amazing, and I've been to the traditional market in Bangi-dong which was also cool (never been to the more modern section). I'll think about these for a video later on with more things to do in Seoul. Much appreciated!
Thanks so much Mike! That's incredibly kind of you to do! Now that I've got a bit more time after making this, it's time to catch up on your newer videos! Looking forward to them!
@Fausto.Realtor.Houston wow thanks so much for the kind words! Made my day with this comment! Take care and hope you can check out Korea someday if you're interested!
What a wonderful, unbiased itinerary for travelers visiting Korea for the first time. It must have been a ton of work recording and editing this video. Thanks for sharing!
Hey @nonblocking thanks so much for the kind words and for all of your support! It definitely took some time to make this, but it was fun visiting everything again as well!
This is a fantastic guide for anyone, not just a first time traveler. It’s a little ambitious but is an excellent framework for folks that want to really experience the city. Seriously, if you are headed to Seoul….this channel has some of the very best advice on RU-vid.
Thanks so much for the nice comment @Runjinrun2! Haha I agree and think it would be tiring to follow the guide 100%. Hopefully people can pick and choose out of everything in there to modify it to their tastes! Really appreciate the praise too!
Great video. I’m sure it was a lot of work. Thanks for all the great information. I’m in Seoul right now with my family and this information is so helpful. Keep doing what you guys are doing we appreciate your work. My wife watch this and said Wow this guy knows so much about Korean history and it’s great that he includes that unlike most people who only post about what they ate and bought in Korea. Keep up the great work!!!!
Thanks so much for the kind words @tc3213! Really appreciate it! Hope you have an excellent trip in Seoul (the weather is absolutely amazing this week)!
This is the most concise and informative travel video about Seoul. You did a great job with the itinerary and made it beautiful with excellent video footage. I've gotta check out your information about solo travel. Loved the part about your subscribers not being into Gangnam, and I certainly fall into that category. Thank you!
Thanks so much for watching and for all the kind words @Mudskipper9876! Haha it's definitely hard to make a list of places that appeals to everyone, so I tried to come up with alternatives to places that aren't necessarily "must see" like Gangnam as you said. I still have so many places to recommend to the more adventurous travelers that aren't interested in the tourist places as much, so it'll be fun to showcase those later on too!
I spent 9 months in Korea on a consulting gig back in 1999. I stayed in Seoul, working 3 days/week, then one day driving to Inchon and one day flying to Yosu. I had the weekends off, as well as the many one-day holidays (I remember there being something like 22 per year). I never ran out of new things to try in Seoul. I loved my time there, especially the people and the food. This video brought back a lot of fond memories. Thanks!
That's amazing @TheMaartian thanks for sharing your stories! You must have a lot of great memories, and I bet Seoul looks a whole lot different (yet similar) than it was in '99. You're so right that there are so many great places to explore!
I was stationed in Yongsan from the summer of 2011 to the summary of 2012 and got to see some of these sites and I fell in love with the country. I am planning a trip back hopefully soon and your guide is really informative and made my trip easier to plan. I’ve also been watching your biking and hiking videos, which is another thing I would like to do on our trip. All your videos are really great and informative and I like seeing some of the non-tourist areas you go to. Keep up the good work.
@kayledawson4283 thanks so much for watching and for the kind words! You must have a lot of great memories from back then. You'll notice a lot has changed in the past 10+ years as well (I recommend checking out the cheese section at E Mart or Homeplus to be blown away). Hope you can make it back here soon, and definitely check out some hikes and bike rides if you can and the weather is decent!
Thanks so much for watching and for the comment @robertastirling3339! You're an amazing parent to take your daughter to Seoul! Hope you guys have an amazing trip there and all the best!
I absolutely LOVED this detailed itinerary! I am going on a (mostly) solo trip to Korea next month and this is the structure/clarity I was looking for when it comes to travelling in Seoul! 정말 감사합니다 !
Thank you so much @josiaprince4312! Really appreciate the kind words, and hope you have an amazing trip to Seoul! Shameless Plug: We made a video on eating alone in Korea with some important tips if you are curious. The BBQ restaurant from Hongdae was pretty good that's in the video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dldef4N_xkI.html
Wow, this by far is the best video on travel in Seoul for both 1st timers or folks like me who are going back for a 3rd time. So many videos out there on just cafes and fashion so it’s refreshing to come across yours that is so much more comprehensive. I wish had this video during my first visit- you’ve planned an amazing 7 day trip with amazing recommendations. Will definitely use this to plan my upcoming trip. Thank you so much! 🎉🎉
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words @Nancy-zi6kd! Really glad to hear that it was helpful! Hope you have an amazing upcoming trip to Seoul! PS I don't know if this is the right thing to self-promote like this, but we made another video on some areas that are less known by tourists that might be interesting too! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wbCKm4EcjXY.html
@@lostthenfound Awesome , thanks so much. Just discovered your channel so I will definitely be checking out your other videos! 🙏. Congrats to you and your wife on big step in van life - looking forward to following your adventures from Toronto!
I went last year and I thought I had done so much, but this year, I'm definitely following lots of your ideas. Best guide I've seen to date. And I've watched so many. Thank you.
What a fantastic guide. It makes me really look forward to getting back to Korea again for more exploring. From my first trip, I'd also really recommend the Inwangsan Hike as it was a highlight. As well as the hike up to Namsam Tower. I was really impressed with the museums too. And inside the multi-level buildings at Namdaemun market was such a unique experience of organized shopping chaos. Thanks again for making such a great video.
Thanks so much @northice! Inwangsan and Namsan are definitely worth the hike for the views, and agree with you about Namdaemun too! Definitely a lot of fun stuff to explore here!
FYI, Kyoung bok Gung > Gung = palace. // Buk Chon > chon = village // Cheonge cheon > Cheon = stream // Chogesa > sa = temple .... every korean understands the name you said~ It is acceptable ~
@JeonNick I speak Korean so it sounds weird to say 경복궁 Palace or 인왕산 Mountain, but that's how the names are officially translated into English for some reason instead of "Gyeongbok Palace" or "Mt. Inwang / Inwang Mountain." I say it the official English way to make it easier for tourists to find and understand the places.
This is so helpful! After doing the cross country bike path I'll have exactly 7 days in Seoul so this is perfect! I have a few days in Busan too so I'll be looking out for that video! Big thanks to your channel for so much detailed easy to follow tips, as a solo traveller this is so helpful! Cheers
Thanks so much for watching and for all the kind words @BasicStealthcamping! Busan video will still be a while because I won't be around there anytime soon, but if it's your first time in Busan I'd definitely spend most of your time around Gwangalli and Haeundae relaxing. They are both filled with tourists, but it's kind of a relaxed/party vibe with a lot of good food/drinks around. If you want a more quiet beach then go to Songjeong Beach instead, and consider hiking Jangsan Mountain for a really nice view of Busan on a clear day!
@@lostthenfound that is fantastic thank you so much! it sounds like your vibe is very similar to mine so if you say its great, im sure it will suit! cheers and thank you again
Thank you very much for your hard work. This guide is going to be extremely useful for my visit. It was worth the extra weeks wait for the LTF post. Regards
Fantastic video guide. I want to do all of this 😄 You have done an amazing job putting this together, so much so that people can and probably will use this as it was intended. Looking forward to the next one🤟😁
Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words @sharonthaxton5921! Really hope you can make it to Seoul someday, as there are so many good places to explore!

Wow thanks so much for the kind words @samikay6290! I don't know if we will be #1, but we'll keep trying to improve as we really enjoy making the videos!
@@lostthenfound I’m serious about my statement I don’t see any other channel really competing with yours if u start with video formats like “Seoul District Review” “Seoul hiking guide” I don’t know “G25 vs Seven Eleven” or any kind of guide would likely result in a blow up eventually
Welcome to Seoul, South Korea to tours many amazing places to shows these remarkable temples, restaurants, street markets, etc. in Korea September of 2024❤❤❤❤
This is by far the best video I've found to give people ideas on what to do in Seoul. I'm going to be there soon, unfortunately only for 4 days as part of a wider tour so won't have time to see everything, but I've watched a lot of videos on here to give me ideas and this video has doubled the things that I have added to my list to include more than just the key sights, so that I can experience a lot more of the city. Thanks!
@scottoftheworld thank you so much for the kind words and for watching! Really happy to hear that we could share some additional places, and hope you have an amazing trip to Seoul!
Amazing video! These tips were so helpful. I went to Seoul recently and most DMZ tours are running again just not to the blue houses and the actual border. It's stopped after the American soldier jumped the border and fled into North Korea. But the other tours are open again to the tunnel and the observatory etc., and it's still a very interesting tour to do.
@Heleenvk thank you so much! Really glad to hear that! Also thanks for giving us an update on the DMZ tours! I didn't realize that the soldier was on a tour when he defected. I wonder if they are going to stop doing the Panmunjom tours forever then? That's great to hear that the tour available now was still worth doing though!
Welcome to Seoul, South Korea three months ago to tours @ these amazing places in Asia September of 2024❤❤❤I really LOVE this great video today’s to watched in joy 2024❤❤❤
A very nice video. Only thing I would add would be - tell people about the library in the old Seoul City Hall - so much better than the Starfield "library". Thanks for the video.
Thanks so much @joemacdonald1980! Also that's a great tip! To be honest Starfield Library isn't my style either, but I know that travelers love to go there so I put it in the video.
I was lost and then found this channel!!! I love how detail you go through each area (maps, easy to follow and clear narrative). We were in Seoul (and Busan) for 2 weeks in March and will definitely go back. We went to a few places you showed in this video but there's a lot more to see and explore. This is very informative and will use this to guide us on our next trip (2025??). Thank you and I just subscribed. 😊
@@sunnystamaria4452 hahah thank you so much! Really glad that it wasn't too difficult to follow along. Hope you had a great trip, and that's awesome that you plan on coming back here too! All the best!
Wow.I am Korean.I will be visiting Korea with my family soon, and I am learning a lot from you 😜 It really is a ultimate guide. Can't imagine how much time you spent to make this one.
Great video and very much looking forward to the off-the-beaten-path video! I spent 2 weeks in Seoul and feel like I covered the "must see"s quite well, but kept thinking there must be so much to see beyond these.
@@houseparade1767 thanks a lot! I'm editing a "10 Things to do in Seoul Less Known By Tourists" video right now for this Sunday. There's a fun mix of lesser known tourist places and some are completely local, so tune in if you are interested!

Wow! 🤩 This is absolutely amazing! Thank you! 🙏 So well made. It was 45 minutes but it felt like 20 minutes. No wonder you needed the extra week. 👍 I love how you get a feel for each area and that you included alternatives. Shopping isn’t my thing either. 😊 So happy this video is getting some traction. Keep them coming guys! I hope the both of you have a wonderful week! Take care! 🌞💜🍀
I'm going to Seoul soon and your itinerary is just amazing for my next trip. It's very clear and easy to follow. There are places that I want to visit this time. Thank you!
I just got back from a two week trip to Busan and Seoul. Wonderful experience. As much as I saw on my trip, this video confirms there was more to see and I definitely will be returning. My fear is that it looks like an influx of tourists will be coming, which might ruin it for me. 😊
@qtrust really glad to hear you had an amazing experience! Also there are definitely a lot of tourists these days, especially at a lot of spots in this video. However, there are so many amazing spots in Seoul that aren't tourist heavy at all, and we'll make a separate video about some of them within the next few months hopefully!
For those only here for this video, you should check out other videos by this channel. They're all very well-produced videos doing interesting things not many others are doing, like biking deep into the Korean countryside and going near North Korea, etc.
The 1st time, I went to Korea 9 years ago, we stayed at Lotte world hotel, never again cost to much money, but it was fun though, I got nailed, we stayed there for 10 days.
We found your video very helpful on our 6 days. My partner and I wrote every thing down and followed your guide. On our way back to our hotel in insadong we passed you and your partner on line 5 insadong going down the escalator while we were going up.
@ThePreston34 hi there so happy to hear that it was helpful, and thank you so much for watching! Oh wow that must have been last night then it sounds like we just missed each other! Hope you guys had an amazing trip in Seoul, and all the best with the rest of your travels! Take care eh!
Best video of Seoul I found so far! I love that you added the itinerary in a doc in de desription. I have been reseaching Seoul a lot, and this video is really the most helpfull. Beautyfull video as well! I never leave comments/likes on RU-vid but this is really a great video. Thank you so much, please keep up the good word and original content!
@m1ndy3 really happy to hear that, and thank you so much for watching and commenting! Made our day with this comment for sure! Will keep trying our best to make more videos like this in the future!
Thank you so much for creating this video! It's very informative and well planned. I especially enjoy how the day's itinerary is clustered so that it is nearby each other. It is also very easy to understand and has all the crucial information needed - costs, transport exits etc. This earned you a sub! thanks again and hoping I can watch more of your videos to plan my trips.
@@nikkibells314 thanks so much for the nice words and really glad it was a bit helpful! We make a lot of exploration videos off the beaten path in Korea, but will keep making guides like this from time to time!
Really appreciate that @teddyt6711 and thanks for watching! October is my favourite month in Korea. It will still be warm enough to enjoy the outdoors at night, but not too hot. Have an amazing trip!
@KateWitt wow thank you so much for your support and generousity! It's much appreciated, and I'll add your name to the end of our videos as a thanks if that's okay with you! Will use the tip as motivation to work hard and continue improving for the future, and if you're planning on coming to Seoul soon hope you have an amazing trip, as there are so many things to see! Thanks again and take care eh!
Thank you for the very helpful video! I will be in Seoul for 6 days and Busan for 5 days. Are you planning to make any recommendations video for Busan? 🙂
@curiousobserver7798 thank you so much for watching! I won't be around Busan anytime soon, so I don't think I'll be able to make a video there for a little bit (takes a long time to film and hotels are expensive). I'll try and get one out in the next year or so hopefully!
@walkingmanvideo9455 haha thanks so much for the praise! Really appreciate it! I think it'd be good to watch some other channels too just as everyone (including us) has their own biases as well.
Thank you so much for the kind words @alterego9873! My camera setup is as follows: Panasonic S5II - "Cinematic" b-roll footage (95% of this video) DJI Action 4 - Vlogging (very few in this video) Sony ZV-1 - Small travel camera when I can't bring my S5II (shots from the Konkuk University section at night in this video at 37:10 and a few others)
I loved how you explained and showed how to get to different places (as someone who is directionally challenged) and the variety of things to do. I'm going to visit Seoul and Busan in October, so I'll be looking forward to your video on Busan. And I'm also going to look at your eating alone video, since I'll be solo traveling. Thank you for sharing all the links in the google doc as well, it's very well organized and appreciated.
@USMCcAnthem really happy to hear that the maps and locations helped to get a good picture of where all the spots are! Really appreciate you checking out the videos, and have an amazing trip this October!
