Comparing yourself to others is VERY bad for your self esteem especially when you think in terms of "oh, that person is xx years old and achieved so many things, and look at poor me..." The mentality should be "oh, that person achieved so many things by age XX! it must have been hard, but if they did it, i can do it as well!" Also, keep in mind that some people find their purpose in life, later than others. There's nothing wrong with that because each person is different and as such, their life-paths will be different.
I really love your videos! I'm Danish too and in my 50's, but I think what's interesting is we all struggle with similar challenges no matter what age we are. I love your open discussion about these things.
Hello Sissel, I am 43 and share the same feelings about the pressure and expectations. Many things in my life are totally different than I imagined 20 years ago, but I decided never compare to anyone else and make the most of the opportunities that cross my path and just enjoy my life as it is, trying to always learn from good and bad experiences and keep growing, that only gives me a sense of accomplishment. I would advise to not do anything to please other people's expectations, and always follow your heart and your instinct. Much love to this community 💚

Right now there’s something I deeply wanna go for, something that probably will help me grow so much and just the idea of being there pulls me out of this kind of depressing/morose state I’ve been experimenting. But I don’t have the support of my family and also I lack self confidence, I tend to be really shy, which is stopping me, and that is something that I want to change. Just taking that step takes courage and I am sure something good and exciting will come out of it. And you know, nothing is definite in life, there is always a way back or an alternative. Of course it makes it more comfortable, but remember that it’s your decision alone to choose passion, purpose and happiness. @@Vita-eq3oj i also lack self confidence, but i;m working on it. I go to therapy 2x month and my homework is to take a notebook, and start writing down DAILY, every.little.thing i managed to complete. IE: i managed to do laundry? write it down, cleaned the house or just a room? in the notebook it goes, did i work/study for x hours? write down. It helps with growing self-confidence and esteem [because i do something, not just sitting on my ass] and i see it also triggers curiosity, more will power, and feel less scared of starting something new [ie a business]. And even failure should give you an opportunity to learn: you take a look at what you tried to do, try to see where did you take a wrong step, and you can try again. Hopefully, the 2nd time around you'll be successful since you already tried it and you know to avoid the wrong step. :D
Im loving the change in Sissel’s content. It hasn’t changed much (not a problem at all :) but i like how open she has become to talk about the struggles living in a Korean society that we may not be as aware of. Love the vid ❤

Was great to see you & Cari together, it’s kind of funny you mentioning getting burned out at work I do feel that way for about 2 years now I recently moved from Colorado to Florida but am still in the same job. It’s really hard to change jobs when you are so used to doing the same one for a long time. Since August I'm in Korea for my last study semester and I have to say that I fell in love with this country. people are just so helpful and friendly. After a few days, I felt the pressure you mention Sissel. In the supermarket there are calories on every product, posters with slim people everywhere, and many products have this ingredient that causes a white effect... However, I'm slowly starting to see myself as I am and as I want to see. This video helps me a lot and I am very grateful to you for sharing such great experiences and advice. :)

If you worry about being confident or successful then... probably you are just too young yet :) I am 36 years old and I can say that life after 30 is so great!!! I used to be stressed about many things and worry about my body, my studies, about everything ( even if I was thinking that I was calm n cool ). Now, at my age it came naturally that I feel so in peace with myself. I love my body even if I gained some weight, I believe I'm pretty whenever I look at the mirror even if I see a little tiny age marks and I feel so fine with the things I've done the rights n the wrongs, the success or the failures. I'm even smiling right now that I'm writing these words. Everything in my past, everything, is me. I love everything. Every day it's a day without worries. Because I have nothing to prove or anything like that. But this time I mean it, it's not like when I said that in my 20s. Girls, believe me, all of your worries will be nothing later! Girls, all of you are going to be amazing women!!! :)
That’s beautiful ! However I know that it’s not related to your age but to the growth you’ve made inside of you. There’s not a magical happiness switch that goes off when we enter into our 30s, so the fact that you feel like this means that you’ve actively created this feeling. I really loved the theme of the vlog and the pretty shots here. It´s true that the pace of life in occidentals countries can crash you. Me being from Africa, the flow is so different there (not saying which one is better) tho i think both have things that if we mix it could lead to something really balanced, productive, but also fun and creative. In Africa things are done more slowly, that´s why even if you have an appointment with someone, it will probably be late (not saying that is the case for everyone), contrasting where i live now (Europe) where time is everything. It´s not that we control time (as we think we do while marking tasks on calenders/agendas or so), we are controlled by time because since we are born, we are supposed to follow a certain path that´s influenced by your surroundings, your family and everything feels like a competition. You have a time for everything (sleep, school, homeworks, homework -cleaning and stuff - especially girls around the world who takes care of things while brothers/fathers/men can have a hobby after school/work like footbal or whatever). So yes, even tho i try to be in control, it´s not easy to do specially because i´m the oldest sister of a single mother, meaning that, what she doesn´t have time to do, i have to, such as cooking, cleaning, taking care of my sister and more, all of it while studying. So at times, i don´t even have time for myself and less to take a day off because even the weekends i still have to do what i haven´t during the week and on. That´s why you have been so helpful to me, because even tho i know your life is not perfect, i kinda see myself in the future and i want to be like you. Independent and having the power to make everything i really want to. Anyways thank you if you read this, love you
When I was in Korea for a year, I remember feeling very pressed to experience and use my time the BEST way possible, and to be good at uni but also have super much fun. I felt like I couldnt just enjoy a time at home, indoors. And omg that café, I will have to try that once I'm back!
What you said resonated a lot with me. I am currently in a job that I hate and that makes me miserable. I am searching for what I really want to do and I have started looking into different paths I should take that are more in sync with my values and what I am passionate about. But my current job is making so depressed that I sometimes don't have the energy to search for other options for my future. I keep asking myself everyday should I quit? But I am to scared to do it and realize that I cannot find another job and take the risk to put myself in a difficult situation financially. But I know that this is a decision that I have to take on my own. I'm trying to take control of my life but it's very difficult. I think fear is often our biggest enemy. Anyway thank you as always for sharing your honest thoughts with us, I can already see that you will be an amazing coach!

Even this morning I was telling a teenager that this idea of a « norm » doesn’t exist. It’s a social construct that people created to feel adequate but in reality I believe each of us has their own unique gifts and thus unique paths. I think the issue is not even a norm but a fake « ideal ». We believe « everyone is doing great » while we seem to struggle, when we’re actually all human beings and each of us has their own challenges in life. To me what was freeing was learning in my psychology studies that the notion of norm doesn’t exist that it’s a social construct. Ever since that I became to realize that we each have our own path, and if you feel « weird » it’s not because you are out of norm, but because you haven’t yet carved that special path for yourself. We all have our own definition of success, happiness love etc and the more we define it, the easier we find it ♥️

A great video as always Sissel! I really enjoy your talks and I love how you really inspire others with these videos and try to share knowledge about the pressures of society and how to live with it. I only have one small question I think you can incorporate in your videos with these talks that has studies and concrete data in them, and that is: Have you considered adding sources to your description for your viewers to see? So you have a reference your viewers can explore and read about the topics you talk about. I think it would be great for both you and your viewers to link sources so we all can expand knowledge, and so your talks always have a concrete foundation you can build upon with your own interpretations and views. I hope this message doesn't come off as rude, I just really thought it was an interesting topic in this video and you seem to really put alot of work and thought into the topics you talk about.

Sissel, I do love the direction you are taking this channel to. As a holistic health coach and a longtime subscriber; I have a suggestion that I hope isn’t taken the wrong way. Please be mindful of “parroting”. There is this change in your voice lately when you discuss spiritual or self help topics that doesn’t feel authentically you… if you are generally quoting it is best practice to say who you are quoting from rather than attempt to make it your own thoughts and ideas. Or even relaxing your tone when you speak about it to match how you talk though out the remainder video so there isn’t such a major difference in speech. This is also something I’ve noticed in your podcast as well. I know this is something you are aware of because you’ve mentioned Jake teasing you about your “RU-vidr voice” and I think its a similar because you want to sound professional but, you also want to remain authentic. It’s just balance after all. Again no hate, just a suggestion. One coach to another.🤎

hihi sissel !! sorry this is unrelated haha, i watched the video of you getting your hairline tattooed because of your insecurities and i just wanted to say, i had a friend who struggled with the same insecurity, to the point where she thought of getting surgery but i told her that maybe she can get bangs (since i heard bangs look really good on people with a bit bigger forheads) and omg does it look amazing on her !! i personally think you look stunning with your hair the way it is but this is just an idea just in case that insecurity ever bothers you again~
I just wanted to ask, is your coaching course internationally recognised? For example, I'm doing 60 hours of ICF-accredited training at the moment and their qualifications are all internationally recognised! This means I can do online coaching to any country once I've done the 100 coaching hours and met the rest of the requirements! I'm just going for the lowest level atm, which is the ACC, but later on I might even work up to the PCC!
Yes ! I changed to Optimus Coach Academy and my training takes me directly to the level of ACC when I’ve finished 50 extra hours of work with clients 💚
@@sisselabaww that's great! Is that the ACC course or the one that gets you straight to the PCC? As part of my volunteering I got the ACC training for free from Tracy Sinclair, so I bought her book with Jonathan and it's so useful!!
I was wondering... since you feel a little unconfident about your forehead, why don't you have a fringe? They have these really cool natural fringe hair pieces to fill it out in Korea too. I'm sure you must have seen them. They seem to be rather common. 🙂 I mean you look stunning like this too but since you even got that hair tattoo I was wondering why you didn't go for the most obvious "solution" first(?)

I think unless you are Korean, it will be difficult to understand the Korean psyche. Korea has a unique history, been invaded, colonized and controlled for thousands of years by its neighboring countries and superpowers like China, Japan, Russia, Mongolia and USA. We have "HAN" that has been passed down for generations. It' explains why Korean society is high pressure, driven and competitive. We felt wronged and powerless without the ability to control our destiny and fate. Success is the best revenge
