@@tvmystery261 Seriously - ALL religions build upon the cultures and religions of the past . Judaism has many elements of other near eastern cultures and Christianity uses lots of Jewish ideas and in fact steals half of its bible from the Jews and yes Islam is clearly a result of Judaism, christianity and of the local pagan culture - SO?

As a person with common sense proven history which is in doubt about the authenticity of both religions let alone Christianity but you can bring that in as well all being based on Sumerian Greek ancient Egypt adopting Pagan religions practices which they've all done to get more convert to appease a population 2 conversion all making a mockery have their own beliefs and not following such changing Doctrine as they go to fit their needs if it was so absolute none of the above would be appropriate or need it but I have only one wish all three of them would just go away all responsible combined for a belief in superiority 99 percent evolved Wars and genocides level one with sexual perversions they're all a little crazy when it comes to that it's just sickening stuff they do can anybody with a moral aptitude would never accept their ways into their life it would not have to be scared into doing moral and just things in their life with the threat of damnation to hold them accountable because all three offer forgiveness for such hideous actions religion is for the feeble-minded weak in morals and restraint but I must say I can't wait till Santa Claus comes the Easter Bunny hops down the trail free presents and chocolate that's my moral weakness candy I guess you got to believe in something or you'll fall for anything and what something to fall for something that has a track record of control an evil Deeds all in the name of God sorry folks it's all buncha man-made criteria to control the masses and govern them

I have a great story to tell. After my dad passed away, I started looking into his family. Turns out thru him, I'm a descendant of Catarina de Orta, sister of Garcia De Orta. They were expelled from Spain in 1942 then took refugee in Portugal where they were forcibly converted by decree in 1497. The de Orta family then moved to Goa, India. García de Orta was a fabulous doctor and served viceroys and sultans, and died before the Inquisition got him in 1568... His sister and my ancestor was not and she was burned for Judaism in 1525. After that the family left to Amsterdam where they could practice their religion. From there to the Caribbean, Curacao, Venezuela, Colombia where I'm from. Is all documents. Crazy history!

Thank you for all of your wonderful lectures. All of my four surnames are Sephardic and my family left Spain for the New World back in the 18th century yet my mothers family still retains many Jewish customs, such as cooking latkes (my favorite) , resting on Saturdays instead of Sundays and my mother was even fortunate enough to have a job where she had Saturdays off , something that the Jewish bakery she ended up working in let her keep (to be fair, everyone had Saturday off there) and other small traditions that looking back, are Jewish. I am now trying to reclaim my ancestor's beliefs along with my partner. He has lent me some volumes of the Talmud and I'm reading the Tan'ach on my own and pray my Sephardic Siddur. The idea is to convert to Orthodox in the future, Gd willing. Your lectures have been a large part of my journey and I always enjoy watching and learning , and enjoy all the jokes. I laugh out loud, yes even at the Chinese kosher restaurant in 1850s California (Because I'm writing a novel on my hometown's history in SoCal). The history is so well researched and I wish this is the history taught in schools over the very innacurate one I learned back in grade and high school. Thank you once again and Baruch Hashem

I am going to share this video with Salaam Shalom group (Facebook) because we all need to know that there have been periods of history when Jews and Muslims were able to coexist harmoniously. Thank you for your excellent lectures. Just to clarify, Dr Abramson misspoke at about the 30 minute mark. It was the Abbasids who overthrew the Umayyad Caliphate in 748-750 CE (he inadvertently switched the two). Abd al Rahman I escaped after the rest of the Umayyad dynastic family were executed and went on to establish his own governorship in al-Andalus.

Abd Al-Rahman was a tough and ruthless man because he lived in a time that necessitated his being tough and ruthless in order to survive. Once the Abbasids toppled the Umayyad dynasty, they slaughtered every male Umayyad whom they could lay their hands on. Abd Al-Rahman escaped, fled to his mother's Berber kinfolk in North Africa and from them raised an army. Supported by a few Umayyad stalwarts in Spain, as well, he invaded the peninsula and took possession of what he reguarded as being rightfully his. There was scarcely any opposition to him from the Christians for they had been thoroughly crushed military in the first Umayyad invasion. The last of the Visigothic nobility who remained alive had retreated to the mountain strongholds of the far North. The Jews had supported the Umayyads in 711 and had even betrayed the Visigothic Kingdom by opening the gates of the capital of Toledo to the Arab armies. Their experience with the previous Muslim dynasty had been mostly a positive one, and that left them inclined to favour Abd Al-Rahman. The real threat to his rule was all the rival Arab and Berber Muslims in Spain who constantly staged conspiracies and launched uprisings against him. The Abbasids supported these rebellions and even launched invasions of their own to dispose of Abd Al-Rahman, once and for all. The Abbasids wanted the Umayyads completely eliminated as potential alternative rulers. Despite this turmoil, Abd Al-Rahman fought off all the military attacks of his Muslim enemies, consolidated his rule over Spain, establishing the Emirate of Cordoba--though some texts say that he personally referred to himself as the one true Caliph--and engaged in many building projects of mosques, palaces and public works that enhanced the power and status of his kingdom. He even managed to consolidate his dynasty itself, and--shades of Joseph and the multi-coloured coat here--passed over his elder sons and left the throne of Cordoba to a favoured-and-beloved younger son. His conquest of Spain and his establishment of a strong dynasty there was an impressive accomplishment.

David Leahy most Jews have ethnoracial connections due to lack of incoming converts of intermarriage. Anybody can convert to Judaism but the fact is that very few people do (it’s a long tedious process and most of history it was a religion of outcasts, so who would join it willingly?) and therefore most current Jews are ethnically related. Therein explains the religion-race debate. As for modern Israel - like any sovereign nation it can decide its own immigration policy. If it wants to allow Jews to gain citizenship, that’s its prerogative.

Just a small note, since I think you might appreciate knowing this: When an Arabic name starts with "abd", everything after that will usually be one of the names of God, since "abd" means "slave (of)". So when you refer to a person as "Al Rahman (The Most Merciful)", you're referring to him by a name of God. Essentially, it's as if we were to refer to Gabriel as just El. Otherwise: Great lecture! I enjoyed it tremendously!

It is wrong to interpret Allah as God. It is completely different. Mr. abraham please read the qur'an before you compare Islam with Judaism. Islam copied and plagiarized the Torah, new Testament and some Jews fables or legacy. But the way Mohammed lived his life was completely different than the prophets preceded him. He never prophesied anyway. For someone of your caliber shouldn't take Islam before thoroughly read about it. Regardless, I enjoy your lecture

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله Salaam, Henry Abrams. I just wanted to say that I enjoy your lectures and I can't fathom why anyone would attack you personally, I literally have never heard you say anything offensive that was your own words and not a quote, it's likely the truth itself that offends people. I see some Christian complaining about the fact that Juda and Islam are more similar to each other than either is to Christianity and can't imagine why they are incapable of understanding the absolute fallacy of the Trinity and attitudes of Paul regarding the Law of Moses that Christianity boasts so much about being free from, as if you can be liberated from the Law of God, are the reasons and that if they happen to renounce their aversion to the Law and denounce the pagan cloak of the Trinity they would have the same similarities they wish they did. I think they believe if they pretend hard enough that Jesus /Isa (as) was named Yeshua and call him by the name of the OT Prophet (as) despite the fact that in any Semitic language they do not share the same name, like in Syriac, that this alone makes them more genuine Christians. Eyes that do not, refuse even, to see what is plainly evident with minimal research to confirm. ישע.

Yusuf G. 🚨CHRISTIANS/ JEWS DO NOT WORSHIP THE SAME GOD AS MUSLIMS, ALLAH IS A PAGAN MOON GOD AL-ILAT. I’ve read the Qu’ran & it’s a highly vague & shallow version of the Bible full of statements & just telling people what to do in these tiny verses for each surah. It literally sounds like a coaching book😂 “”Say this to People of the Scripture”” or “”Say this to disbelievers”” or your gonna burn on the Last day !”. The Quran doesn’t even tell u a linear storyline in chronological order like it does in the Bible of how man came to be, our original sin that lead to the fall of man kind, Christ coming to pay that price for sin which is death so we can be in heaven again with YAHWEH THE TRUE NAME REVEALED BY GOD TO MOSES. Allah has 99 Names in Islam, but guess who also has many many names, Satan, the Old Serpert !! In The Bible God only has ONE NAME & ONE NAME ALONE TO BE REMEMBERED BY THROUGHOUT ALL THE AGES. Exodus 3:14 And God said unto Moses, **I Am That I Am**: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you. 15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, the Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: ****this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations****. Notice how God didn’t say God of Ishmael? Because Ishmael was from the seed of a prostitute which God did not want Abraham to have that’s why he told him to have another child named Isaac who Christ would descend from not Muhammad !! Hmmmmm. This is another of many reasons why this book wasn’t written by the same True God. WHERE IS THE 10 COMMANDMENTS IN THE QURAN? NOWHERE ! IF THE QURAN CAME FROM THE TRUE GOD U THINK HE’D JUST FORGET HIS MOST IMPORTANT COMMANDMENTS? When the Quran talks about the prophets it literally only gives them like one, two sentence n jumps all over the place like the author doesn’t kno how to tell a story!!😂 it’s sooo vague. basically sum repetitive bs like “Allah is most merciful” WE HAVE ENTIRE BOOKS WRITTEN BY THE PROPHETS U CLAIM TO FOLLOW WHICH GIVES US A COMPLETE STORY UNLIKE MUSLIMS. THERES A REASON WHY THE TORAH & GOSPEL ARE ONE BOOK BEING THE HOLY BIBLE. ITS BECAUSE THEY GO HAND IN HAND & TELL THE SAME STORY & PROPHECIES IN THE TORAH WHICH R FULFILLED IN THE GOSPEL BY JESUS CHRIST. The Quran fits nowhere in here. It contradicts the the 2 Holy Books before it confirming each other proving itself to be a counterfeit Holy Book and not the true religion Compare Muhammad’s last words compared to Christ. Muhammad literally cursed Jews & Christians on his deathbed in the Hadith while Christ forgave those who beat, ripped to shreds by Roman whips, mocked, & nailed to cross him to the cross. He said “ Father !! Forgive them.. for they know not what they do !” ISLAM LITERALLY SPREAD BY THE SWORD AND WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE BIGGEST AND LONGEST SLAVE TRADE IN HISTORY THAT LASTED 1400 YEARS . The reason u guys are muslim is because ur country was conquered n was forced to convert to Islam or pay the jizayah !! Which was “protection tax” or else the Muslims wud cut ur head off. Surah 9:29 “Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth from those who were given the Scripture - [fight] until they give the jizyah willingly while they are humbled” Surah 9:5 “And when the sacred months have passed, then kill the polytheists wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give zakah, let them [go] on their way. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful” ^ peaceful God u got there guys😂 ISIS & all terrorist follow the Quran better then anybody in the western world. They’re doing exactly what Muhammad did in his time. BUT WHAT DID CHRIST SAY? Matthew 5:43- 46 43 “Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? CHRISTIANS WERE PERSECUTED FOR OVER 300 YEARS N NEVER ROSE THE SWORD LIKE MUHAMMAD, HIS FOLLOWERS & THE OTTOMAN CALIPHATE THAT CAME OUT IF IT OR FORCED CONVERSIONS. I’ve read the Quran brother now it’s time for u to read The Bible ! Christ said no one comes to the Father except by through him ! He said he is the Alpha & the Omega, the First & The Last, what began with me shall end with me !!

I've never considered myself Christian but the idea of the Trinity and a few other things have always drawn me closer to identifying with Judaism and Islam. From receiving the Torah at Sinai there were always "Rabbi's". They were known then as prophets. Moshe was the firs one. Malachi was the last one. They filled the same role as the Rabbi's from Shimon Hatzadik on down till today.

You should read Deuteronomy chapter 28 and Isaiah chapter 6 before getting too involved with Judaism. Make sure you use a real Bible and not any of the fake versions published after 1850. The 1611 King James is the most reliable.

The one difference between Jews under Islamic rule than under Christian rule is that Jews and Muslims do not have a racial conflict as in both communties, particularlly among Jews native to the middle east are seen to be as from the same genetic background and thus same race so the conflict is religious by in large.

Hello, in one section of this lecture you mentioned that some Christian Monks were "committing suicide" by speaking out against Mohammed at Islamic mosques. I was curious as to why you used that terminology because protesting against Mohammed and being killed for it is technically murder, not suicide (as far as I know). Even if the monks knew they would be killed for their actions it seems to be martyrdom and not suicide. Also, I wanted to know where this type of "killing" of protesters was committed by other religious sects and considered a form of "suicide" and not murder throughout history. I also was confused when you said Islam is more closely aligned with Judaism than Christianity. How can this be? The Torah and the Old Testament are almost identical. The Koran and Mohammed are not mentioned in the Torah / Old Testament whatsoever. The advent of the Islamic faith came much later than both Judaism and 600 years after Christianity. For the record, I have no dog in the fight. I am a Jew interested in theology/history and was curious as to why you believe this. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure we can identify Natronai Ibn Habibai with the Sephardi... He came to Narbonne (France) and according to Abraham ibn Daud on the invitation of a Frankish king! Abraham I read wrote "He and his descendants were close [inter-related] with the King (Carolus) and all his descendants" if this is true I find it incredible. As always It was a real pleasure to listen to your lecture! Thank you

the history of Christianity has been one of intolerance, once which I can not understand because its early history doesn't show that intolerance (at least the followers who knew Jesus or after his death. St. Paul is another story) . Dr Henry Abramson did an excellent job in this lecture on uncovering where the intolerance came from. Pity because Jesus has a good message. Too bad his followers don't listen.

I think most peoples of the world has had individuals that practiced slavery of some sort for most of history. Luckily we've been doing away with that - especially as we have learned how dumb it is to be a collectivist - i.e. generalizing about entire large groups of people we have never actually met or interacted with. Cheers!

Hearing about the exilarch and "king of the Jews" status some were given, it makes me wonder what the Greek in the Christian new testament says when the English translation says Jesus was called "king of the Jews" by the Roman governor of the region before being killed. It also may be a lie to claim he was the exilarch, but since I think the exilarch or nasi is actually named in the new testament, I think it's Jesus vying for power to riot against him
