I've always thought of the attack as sort of an illusion attack.

So how summons work are based off the strength of the materia and who it is cast on. Super Nova is a magic attack that simulates (like a hologram) destruction and the final attack is done on who it is cast on. Super Nova is only strong enough to be cast on people. Meteor was cast on the whole planet and is much stronger. Super Nova is red materia and Meteor is black materia. Sephiroth explains the strength of Materia to Cloud in the flash back when Cloud was in Mt. Nibel. And they learn the destruction power of black materia in Temple of the Ancients

First. the attack didn't destroy the sun...it caused the sun to go supernova...Second. thats normal sephiroth. this is god lvl safer sephiroth. im pretty sure base sephiroth couldn't use supernova..that's why he needed black materia at the time.. safer sephiroth was more than capable of destroying the planet

Actually he doesn't destroy the Milky Way. Only half of the Solar System was destroyed.

Because magic in FF is largely illusionary* -- but the more it feels real, the more damage it does. So, in reality, none of this even happened. :P *"Meteor", however, was an actual summoning. Ultima is also an example of a spell that isn't illusionary. If that doesn't satisfy you, then I'd say simply that FF battles are exaggerations of what really occurs -- for our entertainment :P

Thirteen 1355 bit supernova can cause status ailments. You have to watch out for confusion or input a megalixir before the summon scene starts.

Funny thing... I didn't know Sephiroth had Heartless Angel for a while, as I finished this battle several times without seeing it. When I first found about the heartless angel move and saw him do it for the first time, I already had 2 characters locked in using White Wind. So the characters HP went from 1 to 2. I was somehow able to work a Cure 3 into there and did white wind again to keep from dying..... but man that was close.

lel in the official handbook for finalfantasy, it says summons bring the targets to their own space to attack, sephiroth made his own summon the equations at the start are gravitational attraction equations, he literally coded his own atttack so to speak. However according to lore the attack is very real, but comtained in its own pocket space.

John Butch Maybe it's some bullshit to hype up the VS Threads about a dipwad named Sephiroth with an extremely useless attack called "Supernova". And so everyone uses that argument to decide the fate of a battle. And then I get cancer and call in Cooler who can instant transmission and charge up 90 Supernovas in 4 seconds. Good game.
