BRETT FAVRE's first ever NFL START.
Coming off his relief miracle win the week earlier over 2-0 Cincinnati, Favre gets his first ever start, at home, vs the 3-0 Pittsburgh Steelers with the NFL rushing leader Barry Foster and ROOKIE HEAD COACH Bill Cowher.
Sterling Sharpe AND rookie ROBERT BROOKS burn All Pro ROD WOODSON and Favre makes him pay for both of them for TOUCHDOWNS, and the Packers go to 2-2 thanks to Favre..... and give the Steelers their first loss of the season.
Great footage from Chris Berman on ESPN Primetime from 16 seasons ago!
A TIME VAULT !

I can not wrap my mind around the fact that he has not missed a start to this day. He is like a football cyborg.

just watching the blitz on espn with these two guys, they gave a shoutout to this game, thought id look it up. 17 years later and farve is still making game winning plays and berman and jackson are still the ones on espn talking about it.

I remember this game! I watched it on a 13 inch TV in my old room and coincidentally, it was the first regular season game I watched in there so wouldn't you know that it was Brett Favre's first NFL start and I became a huge fan of his even though the Raiders were and still are my favorite NFL team. I'm so happy Brett is in his 20th season now playing for the Vikings.

I never realized this but Pittsburg played the packers a lot in the 90s for an AFC team.

3 times in the 90s; '92, '95, '98. I wouldn't say that's 'a lot'. They played the AFC divisions on a 3-year rotation, so they played against all the AFC teams 3 times during the 90s, except they played the AFC West teams 4 times in the 90s (90/93/96/99) due to timing of rotation...

Tom Jackson's quote "He could be very effective..." Perhaps... maybe... as in 6,000+ completions, nearly 70,000 yards, nearly 500 TDs, 287 consecutive games started (and counting). And he is a 74 yard TD pass away from 70,000 yards and 500 TDs. Hello, Randy Moss.

The 1994 Steelers were the best team in the Bill Cowher era imo...that was the year before their Super Bowl appearance. Rod Woodson missed all of '95 until the SB, so it was the last time he and Greg Lloyd were together. And Barry Foster at RB, Gary Anderson as a placekicker too...good team.

@BrightWave - yeah, the music they use for the NFL highlights never really gets old, does it? Last season, I noticed that they even brought back the music that is playing throughout most of this video. They had retired this one for awhile, I believe.

ESPN was so much better back then. More highlights and less annoying analysis. The clownish antics and yelling were much more subdued too. Haven't watched an ESPN program, other than a live Packers or Badgers game, in almost 10 years now

1:02 "That's the sign of a veteran quarterback which Brett Favre... IS NOT." Man, that just sounds wrong. As long as I've known about pro football being a thing (a 3 year old in 1999) Brett Favre was always the old man on the field.
