Aw I love how James is sharing stuff he likes and I love how you include it in the video. Your art once again brings me so much joy and comfort. This video was more on the serious side I feel and for some reason it really just kicked me into shape. Thanks for sharing your magic Leigh (and James).

I had to pause the video to say I know EXACTLY what James is talking about! I actually made a Hippo hug deck so I can slowly undermine my opponents with cute useless hippos. A sinfully sweet strategy! Also huge fan of you work and I'm working in my sketchbook currently.

@Leigh Ellexson - First of all, your video got me pumped to work on my shop today!! As for the comment you made in the live chat, I actually made videos about both Jake Parker/Inktober controversies so I've done a lot of research about both. A few people started a cascade of misinformation that has spread by hearsay to a lot of people online, and has hurt the reputation of someone who doesn't deserve that. I'm not even asking you to take my word for it, but I know it's not always realistic for EVERYone to do ALL the research. It just drives me nuts that misinformation spreads so quickly :( About Inktober - it was his concept and his logo, his intellectual property, and he copyrighted it in order to keep people from using his concept to, say, make racist stuff and plop the Inktober logo all over it. The result is that we just can't use the logo for items of profit, but we can still DO Inktober and talk about it in an art book and sell the art book. It's an artist trying to protect his intellectual property, like we all do. The biggest problem he did at that time was just not communicating well enough that he was copywriting the brand so people would know earlier on and not get books printed using the logo. He never tried to make a profit off of other artists work. I was a bit miffed at him for that, as I did have some books using the logo, but it was a mistake and I forgive him. As a graphic designer I honestly should have known better than to use the logo - another artist's intellectual property - without permission anyway. @Radhia Rahman The Alphonso Dunn thing I have also looked into in great detail, as a fan of both artists/teachers, and I do not think Jake plagiarized Dunn's original ideas. Due to a shipping error I actually own both Parker and Dunn's books and have compared them - they are not the same. Even if he had used original ideas (which I still would argue he didn't), Jake actually did mention Dunn IN THE BOOK as a great ink artist that people should check out. Dunn jumped to huge conclusions based off of a few pages in a preview video, and damaged Parker's reputation and sales over erroneous allegations, which was... it made me really sad, both because an artist I like was hurt badly over it and because another artist I like was the one who did it. It's like watching family lie about each other because of a misunderstanding. It's actually hurt my view of Dunn, and as much as I've tried to let that go and just enjoy his content, I'm still mad about it because there was never any closure for the fans over this situation. It's easy for me to forgive a mistake, but when it causes damage to someone else and the one who made the mistake doesn't apologize for it, it's hard to let that go. Working on it still. Don't ever, ever believe these kinds of things wholeheartedly without looking into them more first. This is how careers get ruined over nothing. And when someone does make a genuine mistake, offer forgiveness.

What am I doing? Reflecting on where I am. I’m so excited, pleased and at peace with where I am and what’s possible here. I did it! It’s strange/interesting to think I’ve been watching your videos for years now. Earlier in my/our journey, watching you was motivating and inspiring. (It still is.) I was “far” from where I am today. And it’s been beautiful to see where you are today and watching part of that journey. Okay, I know I haven’t exactly said what I’ve done. It still feels weird to share, like I’ll jinx it in some way. But I’m happy to watch another video and celebrate as I process the unfolding of where I am what’s possible here. ✨

Haha I can relate to Magic being so confusing. My boyfriend sucked me into all that junk shortly after we started dating, 4 years later and I still don’t understand some of the stuff but it’s pretty fun to play! If James is wanting to play with ghosts in the game, tell him to check out the spirit Commander deck with Millicent, Restless Revenant as the commander. I think it came out last year as part of their Halloween release, but it’s one of my favorites to play. 😊

I love magic the gathering. Started playing in high school. Used to drag my nerd friends to friday night magic. They actually wanted to play pc games but I happened to be the hottest girl around so there hormones drove them to join me anyways😂 I swear that was the only time I played the 'hot girl card' and I payed for it tenfold. I just didn't feel comfortable going to play magic by myself at night by myself around 30+ year old guys. But I couldn't NOT play! I was so addicted. I was pretty good too😂 Now I'm more into the artwork because I can't afford to keep up with all the new releases. My favourite deck is an elf deck built around Nissa Revane. ❤
