Hey Holly! So glad to see you again. The progress on bountiful bookshelf is really coming along. The peonies and dahlias are 2 of my favorites. I look forward to seeing All Hallows Eve too. I am a list maker too. It helps so much when I am feeling overwhelmed. I can break everything into small tasks and cross them off as they are done. Thank you for the life update. It truly feels like I am talking to a friend. I am glad to hear so much progress is happening at your property.
@hollythecrossstitchaddict83
Thank you! They are beautiful projects. I would say they are my favorite ones too. I have to make lists otherwise I get so lost with what I'm supposed to be doing lol. I hope you manage to get some stitching in this month too 😀 xx

It is so nice to catch up with you again and see all of your progress on your stitching and life. You have inspired me to take out a few o my larger projects - HAEDS. One, Sunflower Bee, I have not touched since before COVID. During that period I was teaching On-line and my eyes changed due to that. Now that I picked the piece up again, I realized that I need to start over on 22 count - I can't see the 25 as well. Uggh. I then went to another piece that was a bit easier and realized that a mistake had been made in two places that would throw off the entire piece - ditched and new fabric ordered. Very frustrated but I now am going to a third piece - Modern Fold Embroidery- Reaching Skyward. I can understand your frustration with having land, etc. I am in similar situation in South West Virginia - 30 acres and will build in three years and have livestock on it. Keep going, keep stitching, we stand behind you.
@hollythecrossstitchaddict83
Hi lovely, oh what a shame about your pieces, I'm so sorry. However if you can't see the fabric you are stitching on, it won't be enjoyable for you. I have been so busy with Lou over this week I haven't got any stitching in. I'm just waiting for the crazy interest rates to come down before I start building. It's really mental at the moment xx

We've had a dip in temps, too, and it's been such a relief - absolutely gorgeous. Great news about the phone - gold star to your friend for her suggestion! I'd love to have a deck. Standard patios in U.S. subdivisions (at least, in my part of the U.S.) just aren't as pretty, in my opinion. I can just imagine the enjoyment you'll get from your deck! Congrats on the 3K subscribers!! Enjoy your visit w/Lou. Take good care of yourself! 😊
@hollythecrossstitchaddict83
Hi Jenny, thank you for your lovely comment. I will definitely put pics of it in on the next video. Really looking forward to Lou coming 😀 xx

Love hearing about your life. Everything seems to be moving forward! I rode horses when I was a young girl but can't do it now at 70. 3,000 stitches is nothing to sneeze at.
@hollythecrossstitchaddict83
Hey Jennifer, Thank you , it is moving, but moving slowly. Bit by bit, slowly slowly, catchy monkey as we say :-) I love being with horses, it's so amazing to wake up to them xx

Hi Holly! I have just binge watched ALL of your videos from the beginning over the past 6 weeks or so. What am I going to do now? I’ll be going through Holly Withdrawal, lol. I love England. I have been there twice. My husband was born in Bristol but came over to North America at age 8. My British-US mother-in-law lives in Erie Pennsylvania. I am in Eastern Ontario Canada 🇨🇦. Love your stitching, especially the full coverage. I just started my 6th HAED yesterday. And I love hearing about you building your life & business in a brand new country - that is so brave of you. Well done! ❤
@hollythecrossstitchaddict83
Hi Kim, thank you for your lovely comment. They are still coming. Loads of work my end, but I am trying to at least keep the wipgo goals!. I am planning a stitch with me on Sunday too. Lovely to hear about your family and where they originated from. What HAED are you stitching? Xx

@@hollythecrossstitchaddict83 Yesterday I started Mini Peacock 🦚 Plumage. I also am working on Sanctuary of Knowledge (Randall Spangler) - I have about 12 pages left out of 45, A Stitching Shelf - 33% complete, Hidden Harbor (Andy Russell), SK Princess of the Sea (she looks exactly like my granddaughter! - it’s for her) and Book Shop Kids (Aimee Stewart), another recent start. Growing up, my parents home backed onto horse fields. They lived there for 55 years. I worked for the farm owner as a teenager. His business was mostly standard breds, some thorough breds, stud service with those & racing.
@hollythecrossstitchaddict83
@kimpembleton2683 oh wow amazing! You have loads going on, that's really exciting!. My mum also backed on to horse fields when she was a girl. I think that's where her love for horses came in too xx

I'm going through such a stressful and challenging month myself now, that your video was like listening to the voices inside my head: not much time for hobbies, but the need to take the pressure off. Congratulations on how much you've got accomplished, but in personal and in stitching life. Grace Face is more and more mesmerizing, can't wait to hear what plans you have for it, frame it and such. I think I will need to watch this video once more after the stressful period is gone. Also, I think I kept hearing a lot of birds on the background, I imagine the sounds came from your video / garden, and it felt sooo relaxing, so many natural noises, love them! And congratulations on your decision to have a daily morning running routine, I think I should follow your example! Have a relaxing October and more time simply to chill!
@hollythecrossstitchaddict83
Hi lovely, firstly, I am so sorry you are going through such a rubbish time. Secondly, I am so happy that this channel is helping you through the tough times. I absolutely get, that to some people what I discuss is TMI, but actually to others it is about being able to identify that you are going through a similar situation and you are able to relate to someone elses problems and together you can get through each day until you are out the other side. We are all about supporting each other and being there for each other. That is what this community is about. The way I deal with things now is by writing a list of everything that needs doing and tick off the list when milestones are completed. For example, this month, the deck needs completing, next month, the arena is completed, then the concrete needs to go down, walls, stables, concrete pavers, there are all milestones that bring me closer to a finish. Also I love lists when things get overwhelming, I split those lists into days of completion, so I'm dealing with lots of small things and small goals rather than a whole big issue. Make sure you get 'you' time, even if its half hour with a book or stitiching. I will be making me time, because this month I identified I really need it 🙂💗

One thing I learned about 2-handed stitching. Everyone was saying have your dominant hand on the top and other on the bottom. That just wasn’t working for me I couldn’t get it. Found putting my dominant hand behind works for me. Maybe give that a try.
@hollythecrossstitchaddict83
Thank-you! I have started doing 2 hand stitching again and it is feeling more natural to me. I reqlly need a way to speed up my stitching I think 😀 hope everything is good with you xx

Love the label on your horse food does catch the eye; is that your horse on the label? You are doing great on the cross stitch 200 stitches a day sounds good to me. I stitch about 150 to 200 a day myself I don't fancy doing more than that. Your progress is going really well and I look forward to future updates. You can join the library where you are and get audio and ebooks for free to download. Congratulations on 3000 subscribers. Great you got your phone sorted out DPD..... not good.
@hollythecrossstitchaddict83
Hi Daisy Rea, yes that is my horse looking a little worse for wear lol. Was going to advertise for people to have their horse on the label, but in the end, the legal side of it would have probably been a nigjtmare, and I don't fancy having to ditch a whole load of printed paid for labels because someone changed their mind last minute. Thank you for the congratulations. Yeah wow! ,3,000 subscribers is great!! How are you getting on with stitching? xx

@@hollythecrossstitchaddict83 I think your horse looks fabulous beautiful colour. I am cross stitching the same piece nature's wonder it will take me another year to get a finish. The problem is I don't stitch enough hours in a day. I think on average people stitch 150 and above an hour depending on the piece they are working on. I like cross stitch because it is slow going. Back in the day I used to work in industrial stitching Victorian run business, slavery style all about speed and quality watching the minutes of the clock how much work you can complete in seconds always trying to be faster you can tell I was brain washed lol. I never set targets with cross stitch that's just me. Looking forward to your next video. You must pop in some photos of your building work take care.

WOW Holly! I actually think you did well to get the stitches you did in. Don't forget you need to have me time so that you can think straight the rest of the time. Very exciting that you're getting the deck and arena done. Did you manage to get the All hallows Eve started, probably a stupid question as you have so much going on. Look after yourself and enjoy the week with your friend🤗🇬🇧
@hollythecrossstitchaddict83

That's good news😃. I'm stitching it 2x1 tent stitch. I wasn't sure how I would get on with two threads as I love doing 1x1, but I too am loving it. Had two good days on it. Not so today, I've had to frog several times. Concentration is a bit slack today for some reason 😕. Have a good month x

Hi Holly, I hope all is well. I have a question if you can answer. I am doing a haed on 20 count tent stitch 2 over 1. The HAED is called Angel And Kitten and has massive blocks of white for her wings and dress, however, I don't feel I am getting enough coverage for the white parts so am thinking of increasing to 3 over 1 on just the white. Have you ever altered the number of threads on a project? Part of me thinks it might look cool to have her wings and dress a bit bulkier than the rest but not sure. Any thoughts or advice? Thank you (p.s. looking forward to your next video)
@hollythecrossstitchaddict83
Hi Kelly, I have never added threads, I've only done 1 thread on 20 count. I'm actually shocked that 2 threads is still sparse. What thread are you using? And I do think that 3 threads would look cool if it is slightly raised. Is your fabric white? Xx
@kellys1549
@kellys1549 Год назад
Hi Holly, thanks for responding. I am using DMC and my fabric is white. Thanks for your input regarding the extra strand and having it raised a bit above the rest. I too think it might look cool. I will go ahead and give it a try. I would like to send you a picture when it's finished (March/April 2024) so you can see how it looks, if it works out that is.
@hollythecrossstitchaddict83
@@kellys1549 you are very welcome, and absolutely. Would love to see it. Feel free to add me as a friend on fb or send me a pic via Instagram if you have any of those xx
