Maria Steinhauer ever since they’ve got their nose pierced, they notice they accidentally hit themselves in the nose often !!! when u hit ur nose after it’s pierced it can hurt !
Well it's true lmaoo. I'm 20, but still live with my mom and she HATES facial piercings, no matter how old I am, she doesn't want me to get it done. Well, I went ahead to a piercing studio and got my septum done with a clear piercing and I have it flipped up while it's healing
I just want to say for those who find this video and have not gotten their piercings yet. 1.) You should always receive a full explanation before and after getting your piercing. 2.) The shop should be clean and customer service should be attentive and follow procedures. 3.) I would recommend flipping the piercing upward to heal for the first 3 weeks of having it. 4.) whomever does your piercings should NOT use a gun. All piercing equipment should be opened while you are there and NOT PREUSED OR ALREADY OPENED. And they should sterilized. whomever does your piercing should give good attention to where his marks are placed and should change gloves when appropriate. 5.) IF YOU ARE UNCOMFORTABLE, UNSATISFIED, OR UNSURE WITH THE SHOP YOU'VE CHOSEN, DO NOT GET YOUR PIERCING THERE. This shit ain't no game y'all lol I got mine done yesterday. great man, good piercing, and great environment. I will be going back to get the jewelry changed once I'm healed and so excited! but I'm no expert so make sure to look up information on it!
Yes! People keep going to the cheap places and I’m like fuck that. I have my usual though pretty expensive piercer I go too and I’m so glad I found them. She is very experienced and helpful. Before her none of my piercings healed well and I took most out. I have the best jewellery and placement now which makes a huge difference to healing.
Exactly this!!! I went to a bad piercing shop when I got my first (conch) he bend the ring when it was already in my ear and bend it back while still in my ear. Hurt like hell. And didnt tell me till i got problems with my piercing and went back. I just went there cus my sister had gone there a few years before to get a helix. Worst decision. Had problems with it for 2 years (partially also my fault for not caring well but it also didnt have a good start) and finally decided to take it out and let it full heal a couple days ago. Already looks a lot better than it has in months
My piercer gave me great advice after my piercing then I came to RU-vid just to get some extra info… this is the first thing that came up and what do you know, that’s my piercer!! He did an amazing job with not just my piercing but this video too!!
The salt water cleanse feels so good... I had a huge bag on NeilMed saline packets for nasal rinsed and my piercer said that was perfect. My septum piercing feels so much better after I soak it.
i respect this guy so much oml he said "from the parents" man knows what's up 😂😂😂 he just wants people that are gonna pierce themselves to be safe lol thanks dude
what i learned: - DON’T touch it and if you must, make sure your hands are super clean. - salt-water soak at least once a day. use non-iodine salt and distilled water to do this. put four teaspoons of salt into a gallon of the water and this will be the solution you’ll use. pour a small amount into a cup and microwave it for a few seconds until it’s lukewarm. put your nose into and soak for about 7-15 minutes. pat it off or rinse it. - no other products should touch your piercing besides either saltwater or a cleaning solution!
ik im late but what should i do about the jewellery being not sideways like how the jewellery slides to one side every now and then, should i just leave it till it heals or should i adjust it when it moves abit?
It seems like everyone says different things. My piercer said to avoid all saline water and salt soaks. Only water and anti bacterial soap 1 time a day at the end of my shower. It’s what I’ve used with my other piercings and I’ve had no problems. No crusties and minimal soreness. He said piercings that use saline/salt soaks/tree oil take much longer to heal. And he’s a very reputable piercer. His studio has won multiple awards for being the best piercing studio in Houston.
@@kendelle4216 did you have any issues after putting 4 tablespoons? Cause I put 4 as well and been using it for a month now I’m watching this I’m like oops 😅
Gotta admit, my jewelry moved around like crazy. About every 2 hours or so I had to straighten it (the horseshoe would rotate completely). Even now, 2 months later, it still does it. It doesn't bother me but it was occasionally painful when I tried to straighten it and it had crusties on it that I wasn't aware of. I'm about to change it for the first time tomorrow. Pretty excited :)
Kendra Gallup yea ik right they say don’t move it when u clean it etc mine moved the first day i tried to clean it these move alot on there own without u trying to move it
honestly, ive figited with ming and had no issues at first it hurt but not to much as it was new but that didnt last to long and the gunge and crust i just whipped it, also i cant flip mine, its too small, but its my fav one yet.
i just got mine done today and the piercer told me to put antibacterial soap on it and it hurt so bad i cried. i never cry, my pain tolerance is higher than a kite. i’m SO glad i found this video. 🙏
I cried yesterday too after spraying saline solution I got from the Pharmacy on it😭 I use that same solution for my belly button piercing and it works just fine, but with the septum😭😭My nose kept dripping and my head ached😭💔
Just got my septum pierce and i was doing sea salt and it burns when i try cleaning it. So i use antibacterial soap and saline water to clean it and no burning and its seems to be healing nice and it doesnt hurt. Plus for some strange reason im using the antibacterial soap on my face as well and its clearing up the pimples :-)
are septums supposed to hurt because I got mine yesterday and apart from stinging for an hour after i initially got it, it stopped hurting completely and ive only been cleaning it with a saline solution with q-tips.. it doesnt hurt at all and I barely feel it either but everybody in the comment section says their's hurts like a bitch so im wondering if its normal not to even feel it tbh
Miffy - mine hurts sometimes. But for the most part i'm there with ya on that. I got mine 2 days ago now. The first night i went to bed with it i flipped it up and it hurt. But then yesterday i realized there was crust. And i scratched that off. That hurt a little But not like a "bitch". Maybe they are over-exaggerating?
Nick Hice yeah mine only stings a little when i wipe off some crust but other than that i haven't felt it tbh not even when I accidentally bump my nose
Miffy - he got your sweet spot perfctlly your lucky i just got mine 2 days ago i dont feel it either unless i bump it or blow my nose, but overall its not bothering me at all im just waiting to start stretching it i started at 12g for my septum
Yes its normal if it hurts its pierced in the wrong spot its suppose to go in the "sweet spot" like yours and if it hurts really bad afterwards its something wrong they should check for infection. Yours is normal and healthy.
@@netflixedits2149 im planning on getting one but my only problem is idk exactly where they make the whole at and i rlly wanna know before i get it, also, did it hurt?
@@ikzuq I got my septum pierced 3 days ago, they do it at the part of the skin that's not hard. Super quick and the pain level is 1/10. It's currently not sore as of right now, but my tolerance for pain is very high.
That’s all I did! I’m perfectly fine! Just my normal face cleanser and water! Never hurt, never got infected! Actually it was the easiest piercing I’ve had and I have a lot!
@@kandi0225871 would it be fine to just do as he suggests with the non iodized sea salt and distillied water? Could I just use a spray bottle with the non iodized sea salt and distilled water in it?
Bro I’m going to subscribe for a good reason. I got my septum pierced in 2015 and I took it off because I couldn’t stand the pain. I recently purchased another ring for my nose and the same thing happened, I couldn’t bare the pain and irritation… Nobody told me there was a process. So thank you for this informative video. Now I know what to do.
Dude, I got mine pierced today and it hurt SO BAD! I’ve got my lip pierced and it didn’t hurt at all but this was absolutely the worst pain I’ve felt aside from giving birth. I literally felt like she was ripping through my nose.
@@emilyb7423 some people just have painful septum piercings. mine didnt go through cartilage and it hurt really bad but thats gonna happen for some people :)
@@anna2k_ no, proper septums go through the skin, and that flap has very little nerves there. The septum is one of the most painless piercings, literally on par with a lobe. If it hurts it's because the piercer went through cartilage.
@@cjmattrocks shit i got mine pierced 2 days ago and it literally felt like someone was ripping open my skin lmao. ive heard that it's supposed to just feel like a small pinch and that u gotta sneeze, but mine definitely did Not feel like that. i think my piercer definitely went through cartilage in that case bahaha
@@cjmattrocks I got mine pierced today & it hurt baddd but I have a deviated septum..it shocked me tbh.. he didn’t tell me he was going to have to pierce it super slow to make sure it was straight (bc of my deviated septum) so it was awful:(
I just got mine done a few days ago and I like to take a cotton ball and soak it in saline and rip it in half and put one half in each of my nostrils for 15 minutes. A lot easier than sitting with my nose in a cup!
@@no-ul2mg Like a microfiber cloth? I wouldn't ask someone like me for advice on this. I'm not a piercer, just a CNA in training who loves body modification. That being said, a rag might work, as long as the fibers in it are very, VERY tiny. You'd want to reduce the amount of damage to the injury while it heals so the smoother the item used to clean it, the better. You'll want to avoid the risk of snagging anything on the scabs and bits of jewelry and any jagged, uneven skin. If you use a cloth, be sure to wash it thoroughly after every use, using a fragrance-free soap. (I forgot about this "rule," and I realized that my nose started to get really painfully irritated when I started using a soap with fragrance in it. After I switched back to a fragrance-free face wash, the irritation went away.) I'd suggest washing it by hand as well, as machine washing can damage fibers a lot quicker. For my own piercing, what has worked for me is just not using any third-party items. I just use my own fingers. lol Since my nostrils are really small though, I can only really use my pinky fingertips. PS: I love your username. lol
@@no-ul2mg I just got mine done 3 days ago and I was told just use a qtip and dip that in saline solution that you get from the drugs store, it's been doing really well thus far- dont need to "soak" it, just clean it and get the crusties off, reposition and leave it until the next cleaning- just be gentle. Also was told don't flip it up if I don't have to- and I don't so I'm not going to until it's all healed. I don't really have many crusties, not like the first day.
My piercer told me to use a Saline Wound Wash for 2-3 days for the next 6-8 weeks, so far no issues and I'm going on 1 week of healing. It still has a tingle/sting when I'm cleaning it.
Definitely gonna try this out. I got mines 2 days ago and my piercer never mentioned a soak, just gave me a saline spray to use 3 times a day. And let me tell you that spray is NOT giving me long enough relief from this pain today. My nose is swollen and I just want to bury it in ice 🙃
@@areiaynacraig9567 if you for some reason can't find distilled water (which isnt hard to get) it should do. Just don't do the treatment right after boiling lol
I heard the only difference is if you move it takes longer to heal and the longer it takes to heal the more oppertunity for infection. I'm about to get mine this week ☺
I've done that too,I got mine today and started gently moving it back and forth through the hole while I was cleaning it and then I saw some videos and threads discussing to not do that and I was like oh shit >_< our piercings will probably be okay though, just keep cleaning it and eat lots of healthy food!
4 teaspoons non iodized sea salt to the 1 gallon of distilled water and shake in the jug of water. microwave a few seconds until it is body temperature warm. soak for 7-16 minutes
@@BecaFond idk if u still need this but Dial antibacterial tends to be the brand that everyone reaches for. my friend used the Dial soap on her septum and it healed fine
I got my piercing 4 days ago and my piercer never informed me to not move it. So my dumbass was moving it around thinking it would help it heal easier, and to prevent scabbing around the piercing. Now I'm here with a painful piercing, about to clean this shit the right way. Thank you!!
Man, I'm so happy I decided to look up proper aftercare, my piercer told me to use dial antibacterial soap and zero-alcohol listerine and I knew that didn't seem right.
My piercer gave me this bottle of spray by a company called “Neil med” it’s specifically for piercing aftercare, she told me it was safe for my snakebites and my septum
Also, has anyone gotten a piercing without their parents knowing? And how long were you able to hide it for? Also, will it fall down when your running or playing sports if its flipped up?
I pierced mine July this year & my parents still haven't found out. I'm not in sports, but I'm pretty sure if I was that my septum wouldn't come down when I'm running. It mostly depends on the diameter of your jewelry too :)
I know this is pretty old and I don’t have my septum yet, but I got my daith about 3 months ago and my parents don’t know about it. Also currently stretching my ears and I’m at 8g and they haven’t noticed that either. I’m also 19 still living with my parents but they understand that it’s my body and I’m going to do what I want with it
I got four piercings underage without my parents knowing. My tongue, my belly button, my tongue web, and my eyebrow. I don't suggest getting a piercing without your parents knowing or supporting that choice. I was able to hide them for a bit. They never knew about the tongue or tongue web. It was surprisingly easy to hide my eyebrow piercing from them. Just wait until you can move out or make the choice yourself, though.
Thanks for the video! I’m going to have to keep mine hid at work. I was going to get it pierced yesterday but wasn’t sure. Came back to RU-vid and got reassured that I can prolly do this. Thanks!
I’m sxrry omg yes it did I’ve had it for a whole year now and it’s perfectly fine, don’t be scared to clean it though. I was when I first got it but it rlly doesn’t hurt
i had my septum pierced like 4 days ago and then today i just had to have it changed because i had an allergic reaction to the jewellery 😁😁 yay! it hurt like hell to get it changed but now i hope it's on the way to healing !!!
I just got my septum done two days ago, and they told me to use neosporin! Which I have been, twice a day. Thank you for the information! Also, how can I tell if they did it too low? I feel like the piercing was done too low, but IDK really. I'd appropriate it if you respond. Thank you again!!
My piercer gave me a product called "Pressions" with an "X" behind it and it's "Dermatologist Tested". It's a spray for your piercing, supposed to use it 2 times a day and after meals.
I've had my septum pierced for about a month now and I just went to get it changed to a smaller circular barbell. I have a bump on the left side and I've been doing salt soaks and when I don't have time I swab it really well with the solution. I started using tea tree oil to help because people told me it would. How long will it take to go away? I can't wear it at school and it is slightly painful to flip up on the one side. Do you have any advice to get rid of the piercing bump?
for the future (if you haven't already done the piercing), don't use tea tree oil or oil at all with bumps. it doesn't help, irritation bumps will dry up and fall off on their own @@ryansmith8574
@@faze_kd3524 the only thing that hurt me was the tongs that they used to make sure they pierced me correctly but other then that id say it was a 5/10 pain wise!
I’ve had my septum pierced for like 3-4 days now and my piercer told me to use neosporin and saline solution, I’ve also had a strong itching sensation for the past two nights but it only comes in at night and doesnt last all night. Any suggestions or corrections for this?
i got my septum pierced 8/14, and the place is really well known for being the best piercing place in my area. the guy told me that i didnt need to do anything other than get rid of any gunk on it. i asked about salt water soaks, and he told me that the salt would just dry out my mucus membranes and not to use it. but everywhere ive read on the internet says to do them. i havent had any problems other than soreness, though i have been cleaning it with water. any advice about soaking vs not soaking?
Got my septum pierced 2 weeks ago & she pierced me through my cartilage! As she was setting up, she put the septum forceps in my nose & then she let them dangle as she was getting the needle ready. She then said that i moved…uuggghh because it HURT! It bled a decent amount too (when you are pierced through the cartilage it bleeds bad). I told her i take baby aspirin & she said i should have told her that before…uhh you never asked. She then said because “I” moved it might be crooked…but when we were done, she said she thought it looked straight. One of the balls touches my nose so its def crooked. Their aftercare states to use triple antibiotic ointment- which you never do on an open wound!! Please go to a reputable piercer & save your money. I now have to take it out & let it heal before I can have it redone 🤨
Got mine done 2 weeks ago and its crusting. I try to move it to clean it and its painful and hard to do so. When i get it to rotate there is crusting on it. Is it infected or is this normal?
The crust is most likely a scab and thats normal well...it doesnr matter now lol but its part of the healing process so it hurt cause you were tearing the scab away, which it could get it infected
I was literally told “just don’t touch it for a month after my piercing, the place I went is very reputable and safe, so I am a tad confused on what exactly to do
I need help asap!!! Getting my septum pierced next week, I cannot have it visible for school so I have to leave it flipped up whilst it heals-is this okay? PLEASE ANSWER ME SOMEBODY
I got my septum pierced 2 days ago and my piercer told me to keep it up and to only flip it down whenever I'm cleaning it (she recommended 2-3 times/day) my nose is kinda swollen and she told me to use 70% alcohol - antiseptic alcohol - to clean it (i don't know if you've heard it before but it's meant to be used in hospitals to sterilize things and bruises) so should I really flip it down when cleaning it? cause throughout the day i noticed that there are crusts and a bit of blood that's already dried out ps: sorry about any spelling and/or grammar mistakes, English isn't my first language 😊
I just got my septum today and need to hide it. If I leave it hidden inside my nose during the whole healing process will that affect how my piercings looks? Or should I bring it down during the day?
Literally got my septum pierced but the piercer had the wrong needle and messed up. He tried three times to put the jewelry in but it didn’t finally he got a bigger needle and it finally went in. I was bleeding and it was kinda traumatic. A bit painful because of how many times he put the needle in. Nonetheless it’s in and it’s okay other than putting it in:’)
What about chamomile tea? I had a bump on my cartilage piercing so i added 100& chamomile tea to the seasalt water solution and had great results with that, but that piercing is about a year old now, would chamomile be ok on a fresh septum piercing?
I'm not sure if this helps at all, but a while back my parents had to get dental implants and the dentist said that the chamomile helps prevent infections (especially in the mouth), so I guess you could apply it to a septum piercing?
I have my fingers crossed my parents will allow me to get my septum pierced. Thanks to this video, I'll be able to answer any questions they have! Luckily the septum piercing isn't _too_ high maintenance.
