I once digitalized my VHS-Vids - and this Documentary of the beginning of Sepultura is definitly worth uploading i think. for fans by a fan - no commercial interests inside
Have seen Igor playing with Max recently and believe me, Eloy Casagrande makes circles around him, it is undeniable Igor has been fundamental for the whole generations of extreme metal drummers that would appear in the next years (his snare pause after hitting cymbals is one of his trademarks being copied by many other drummers, Donald Tardy is one of them), but age has taken its toll on him.
@@JuanIparraguirre You are the only one that have noticed this, pausing after hitting the crash cymbal, just him and Donald Tardy, yes. I think Igor was a mediocre drummer, but he could groove and fitted the Sepultura style.
@@PijoLiz He was a mediocre drummer until Morbid Visions, in Schizophrenia and especially Beneath The Remains he improved a thousand times, in fact the latest is my favourite Sepultura album ever!
Brilliant video. Me and my best mate travelled down from Scotland. I'm the Scottish one saying they are the most heaviest thrashiest band on the planet. What a show. They were supporting Agent Orange and everyone walked out after they finished cause they blew us all away. Good times.
Greg Girard Wow, that's great ! Don't know how many times i heard your "they are the most heaviest thrashiest band" and wondered - where is this Guy in his D.R.I.-T-Shirt from ! Unbelievable ! Well, i think, next to Metallica supporting Venom in 1984 "seven dates of hell", sepultura supporting sodom was one of the worst Decisions a Headliner could do... I saw Sepultura the next Tour - they where tight as Slayer, but ten Times more Intense ! Thanks for your comment !
+Vinny V hey vinny. there was nothing wrong with sepultura supporting Sodom on paper but they were so intense on the night they blew the crowd away and everyone walked out in a daze after them and never thought of Sodom. I stayed for 5 minutes of Sodom but couldn't get sepultura out my head so left as well. didn't mean any disrespect to Sodom just sepultura were that good.
Greg Girard I see what you mean now. People must have used up so much energy (headbanging, moshing) that they were exhausted after Sep's set that they couldn't be bothered with Sodom.
This was at prime. Thrash will never reach this peak again. I bought it in 89. I was 14 years. Now im 44. I still listening to it in a regular basis. Just to remember my own brain how music was done before i get old and demens
After at least 15 years of hearing every metal song in a D-tuning or lower; it almost sounds strange to hear these songs in standard E tuning. Sounds refreshing actually
Damn this makes me wanna cry... They where so fresh and ready to take over the planet ! This was Sepultura to all of us... Anything after Cavalera brothers left... Sepultura became it's name...
@@sdsuman1 dude, i started listening to these guys 3 years ago. when i was digging through some of their interviews, i was so heartbroken when i read that Max and Igor left.
God, I remember the first time heard "Inner Self" and I nearly lost my head from banging so hard. TY Headbangers Ball!!! They really were so different. Don't even get me started on Arise. Best album they ever did.
The good old days of metal. Things have changed in the metal scene quite a bit since 1989 or 1990 even. Beneath the Remains and Arise are brilliant albums.
It was ‘89 when I was jinxed to never see Sepultura. Took a road trip from Tijuana to Long Beach to a cancelled show on the spot, even to the band’s surprise. At least they hung out with the disappointed fans until the cops dispersed us. Took my kid last night to the Cavalera show in Ventura, finally got to see BtR live after 33 yrs 😊
@@victoresquivel8546 I was at Donnington Monsters of Rock '96 uk, especially to see Sepultura. On the day Max had to fly home as his son wias in a fatal accident. Very sad. The rest of the band still played with help from others on the line-up. It was still a great show but not the same
I used this video in 1993 on school on a lecture we had to do about music. suffice to say that there were more then a few surprised faces. Beneath the Remains is still my favorite CD. awesome stuff
It's amazing the depth of his lyrics b4 he had a fluent graspe english! He said he learned English by looking up the translations of metal lyrics for their definitions to fully understand the songs! That's how deeply he loved what he heard!
Thanks so much for the upload. I remember when I was a kid and I bought the cassette of chaos ad. I fell in love with the music. That was back in the day when I would buy albums blind not knowing if they would be any good or not. I was blown away when I heard that album. Good memories.
So excited to see them again tonight...last time I saw this lineup was Dec 16, 1996 home in NYC and now live in Florida and driving up to Orlando and Tampa to see the brothers do Beneath Arise live.......After this I can move on to the next life because this was something that growing and seeing with friends in NYC was amazing and to relive again tonight at 46 I am complete...
Heavy Metal is virtually extinguished. The years of the 1980s - 1990s are never going to come again. All groups know this, some just play for survival and others to make even more money. Thank God we are very lucky to have experienced as teenagers the real years of the Metal scene.
Monsters off Rock , Daynamo , Roskilde , Jura Hill , Pessten.......
This kicks some serious ass man!! Thanks for posting. Early Sepultura was awesome and MTV Headbangers Ball was an awesome show.. The gud' ol' days of metal!!
Who says Andreas is irrelevant is clearly deaf. The guy shaped the band's sound almost single-handedly and all people do is talk about "the Cavaleras".
+Jônatas Rech Kisser is awesome no doubt...But I still think he should have left the name alone and started a new band... No matter how awesome he is, Sepultura will always be Max and Igors band IMO
Sepultura were already building their heavy sound with Morbid Visions. Sure Andreas helped make them better, but in no way did he "single-handedly" shape the band's sound.
beneath the remains blew me away bc it didn’t sound like anything else, it was ahead of its time taking its own personality and becoming the staple signature sound for them
Sepultura started to suck even WITH the Cavaleras. Arise was the last God tier album. Chaos A.D was decent, but showed a band that was losing it's grip. Roots was pure fuckery. The St. Anger of Sepultura and the death of a once top tier band. I still remember throwing on the Roots CD on the day it was released. I wanted to throw up.
jim Jackson aww. Did i hurt your feelings for not liking dogshit era, terrible, "jump da fuck up" era Sepultura? Lol. I have bad taste? If you like that shit, you are probably taking a load in the eye from Bieber right now
Wow! I´ve been looking for this. Lots of memories. This change everything! There was Slayer. There was Anthrax, Metallica and all of the other trash. But this was it!
Thanks for that, I used to have that clip on VHS too, rememeber watching it over and over again way back in my teenage years lol, think it was 1990. really enjoyed watching it again after all those years , thanks :)
thanx for uploading! bringing back the good old days :) I remember seeing this episode back then in 1990, had it taped on vhs, over and over again. killer!
amazing upload cheers bru.... remember going into ourprice and buying Beneath.. got it home and put it straight on the turntable. Blew my mind. Still one of my favorite albums to this day.
Dude I've been big sepultura / soul fly fan for over 20 years and have really never listened to anything pre- chaos a.d. and now can't believe I've been so naive to think their earliest shit wouldn't rock as much as any of it. And am giddy to hear a few dozen songs I've never heard from a band I've heard as much as any past 20 years. Glad you turned me on thanx
You are so lucky to have witnessed the SOS bill!!! "Some tours were meant to stay underground" ...probably the 3 most influential extreme metal bands ever (along with Death and Kreator) imho 🤘
God. Why couldnt i have been born earlier! Rather be 16 in the 80's than in 2012. No headbangers ball. just bullshit. Never gonna get the chance to see such an awesome band. the REAL sepultura!
This is so good. I remember when i heard Arise for the first time and the mystique around them. It's somehow more authentic then most of the American and British clones from that era. Chaos AD still hits my heart, just as Roots did later.
Sepultura is by far one of the best metal bands of all time other than some of the best heavy metal wish you could ask for another reason for their hitting the big time Max cavalera is a mix between Dave Mustang and James Hetfield
Sepultura, Max and the famous white warlock as well as the album Beneath The Remains, but this particular song changed my life forever and in a good way from the dark place I once was as a teen
Shee it man! Im from BH and I was here back in the 80´s and I sure remember those days!! Headbangers were "invited" out of pizzarias here, just for the looks they had, like what happened to Chakal´s Wladmir Korg and his girl. And cops´d bust you for nothing all the time, and rich kids´d stop their cars and throw shit at you on the streets. But metal has never been as true as it was back then and the fans have never been as real as they were on those long gone days. Hail Minas Gerais Metal!
Great band. I miss the HBB from MTV. I had to go very late to sleep 'cause of that show. Sepultura was so strong. As others, couldn't see the Cavalhera bros live.
