Sequential Drumtraks 400

1982? No way. MIDI was indtroduced in 1983. If I remember correctly this one came in 1984.

great demo and the opening of the case at the end was great! i service gear like this for a living and i just love seeing how they made the case fold open like that! They just don't do that anymore these days...

In the song “Hot Shots” (which is from/in The Rockets), the Sequential Circuits Drumtraks is heard.

I remember years ago getting hold of lots of vintage drum machine samples - and they sounded weedy, because as this video demonstrates you've got to produce them. At about 05:25 this sounds wicked, not how you'd expect a 1982 sampling drum machine to sound.

Main thing I remember out this was it sounded way better than the Roland TR606 I'd been using previously.

@SonicMMM I totally agree. Snaps like a whip! The Sequential TOM clap is good too, very similar.

Me too. I got one of the 400, just borrow it! I sometimes opened it, to change the sounds, but i never pay attention if in this was the same message. I love the idea, to put some good energy/vibes inside, hehe! LIVE LONG AND PROSPER \\//

The bit at the end showing the circuitry. What is it with people these days and microchips, resistors and wires..yeah they are in all our modern computers as well. Only the ones in the modern computers are a millions times faster and more reliable. If you head down to the hardware store you can buy a nice piece of wood, a metal box, some wires and a tin of varnish...then bash up an old computer and throw all the bits and pieces inside....a few coats of varnish...stick it on ebay...easily $400 of anyones money
