But that, in part, is because of the country's great cultural tradition. And when we say they take the sport very seriously, we're not exaggerating in the slightest....The two-time regular season MVP and newly crowned NBA champion is the top basketball player in a country that has been exporting players to the NBA for decades. But beyond the individual success of its players, Serbia is known worldwide in the basketball world for its collective performances.

Dejan Bodiroga. If I were to choose a favorite player of Serbian origin, I would have a hard time choosing between Dražen Petrović, Luka Dončić and Pistol Pete Maravich.

you forgot Micic he is also in the NBA and is the main PG for Serbia 1x Euro League MVP 2x Euro League MVP finals, Serbia is missing 7 stars from their squad and still made it to the finals

Drazen Petrovic's father is a Serb, as is Luka Doncic's father. Drazen's grandfather and Bodiroga's grandmother are brother and sister, and Luka is their distant relative. All three are my relatives and they all have Serbian genes. Pistol Pete Maravich's parents are also Serbian. Nikola Vucevic, Nikola Pekovic and Nikola Mirotic are Serbs from Montenegro. Serbs and Montenegrins have identical genes, and they share almost the same genes with Croats and Bosniaks. The five best European coaches of all time are Serbs. Among the younger Serbian coaches, Kokoskov and Rajkovic are the only non-American coaches who were head coaches of an NBA team. Gregg Popovich also has Serbian genes. Excellent video!

My friend, you've made WAAAAAAY too many mistakes in this video. From the wrong pictures of the players, countries, country flags, to the horrible pronunciations of names. Please fix it xD PS: Serbia/Yugoslavias' basketball history started way back then in the 90's. Just google Yugoslavia basketball and check the list of medals. Our second biggest star is Vasilije Micic who will be playing for OKC next season. He's a former mvp of the Euroleague (strongest basketball league in europe where teams from different countries compete) and a 2 time champion with Anadolu Efest. Pokusevski was never a part of the national team and he's too young and we don't really count on him yet. We're missing our veteran players on wing positions, mainly Nikola Kalinic and Vladimir Lucic, who were instrumental in past medal runs and are some of the best players in europe on their position. And we're basically playing with only 1 point guard who has a back injury and who knows how many other injuries.

@@markomarkovic5729 I wrote that he's our 2nd biggest star. My point was that Jokic is the biggest, for obvious reasons and Micic is 2nd because he's been the best player in europe for several seasons, winning mvps and trophies. While Bogdan is likely a better player, when playing for national team, he's unquestionably better, but Bogdan is 6th player on a team that is barely able to make playeoffs in the eastern conference. So when it comes ti stardom, Vasa has more to show in past several years. But who is actually better might not be as clear, since we haven't seen them play the same game for many years. Of course, in Serbia, Bogdan is 2nd only to Teo, when it comes to this generation of players.

@@stefanjoksa Wow. You're comparing a guy who averages about 15ppg in the NBA to a guy who is just coming into the league at 29 years and will probably struggle for minutes. Micić is our "second biggest star" only if you ask his manager Miško Ražnatović. Teodosić was a great, creative player in his prime, but he lasted only 2 seasons in the NBA. Like it or not, Bogdan Bogdanović is the best Serbian guard since Predrag Saša Danilović. If he were to return to Europe now, he would be the best player in the EL by far. P.S. When the Hawks played in the 2021 Eastern Conference Finals, Bogdan was the starter and the team's second-best player.

in our language (ex yugoslavia) when there is a C in any word, its never a K. C is always a C, like center. and if its a surname and ends with IC, its pronounced like JOKIC. jokić, petrović etc. another example luka doncic. its donCHic, dončić. ch=Č, IC=IĆ. in surnames in 99,99% cases its Č or Ć. one more example where C is a C, and thats the 0,01% in lastnames. nemanja bjelica. his surname doesnt end with IC, so its not Ć. its just a C. im hoping you understood this last part :)
