I'm South American Paraguay but I would love to consider myself a Serb at heart. I wish to hell I had a Serb folk costume or a t shirt with the Serbian flag.
Vranje the small town in Serbia was in the time of Osman rule in Balkan settled exlusively by Serbs who turned from Christians into Muslims. They kept the language but they have done wothewer they could to coppy Osmans in dresses, Music, dances. So those dances are realy Anatolian of Mislims Turks even Pontiac Greeks Orthodox who dance in simmilar ways.
it is only one part of the Serbian culture that resembles the Ottoman Empire, we have lived together for a long time and we are proud of that. However, the influence of the Balkan peoples can be seen in the folk costumes of the Turks, so it is mutual.
y’all in this comment section need to stop spreading misinformation 💀 this is a southern SERBIAN dance (vranje) which has a heavy influence of OTTOMAN/ turkish culture (rightly so as serbs were under ottomans for almost 5 centuries). this has nothing to do w albanian dances or mf albanians or albania💀
Now those are the REAL Serbian Folk daces, not the once from East Serbia that they present at "Serbian" but are actually from the assimilated serbianized Bulgarians, Nish, Pirot, Bosilegrad, Zajcar etc...
First song is about romance between a couple, one of them is calling another by the name, saying: "My dear, open the door, it's me, my heart is burning for you.. 🤗"
As a Serb, I honestly hate this type of clothes being worn by womans such as these turkish pants. I don't have no offense against Turks today but as Slavs, we have our own culture and dressings that we should use more often than these rags.. I understand being under Ottomans for 350 years which is very long period but we should seek for bringing back our tradition from Old Europe :). Our Slavis clothing's looking similar to Nordic type of clothes. Things like these had to be said by a Serb. Thanks and cheers! :)
@Penny for my thot why do you think so We Turks love Serbs. we have burgar and Serbian blood in our blood. Slavs and Turks are related to each other. we are relatives and brothers.

I am questioning dress code which is Turkish /middle eastern ,( as for music and dance , I don’t know if that is Serbian or Turkish/middle eastern too ?) .. I assume it is Serbian ,
@@spartacus2000 Arab and Turkish music and costumes have also been influenced by Greek and Indian. So before you call Serbias music Arab, maybe consider that every culture is mixed and there is no such thing as "pure serbian" or "pure arab" or pure anything. This is Serbian music, with all its influences, just like arab music is influenced from its surrounding too.

I travel a lot , and some years ago I visited Turkey ... their music and costumes was almost identical to your Serbian costumes and music , that is why I questioned your identity... to me looks and sounds just like a Turkish music, a specially those costumes... no insult meant ...thanks for your input ,

hahaha, i told that to everyone.. smell to much to persian/turkish conquers.. We need to introduce ourselves with our true folk music from the heart of Serbia, not music from southern Serbia, which has been under great Turkish pressure for over 500 years
These dances show actually an Albanian influence on the local Serbian people. Turks do not dance like this. The music has certainly and Ottoman Balkan flavor to it as well but its not Turkish either. It very typical of Albanian urban centers, especially central Albania and Kosovo. The costumes are also an Albanian influence, or maybe Bosnian. The women's lower clothing are called "dimi" and are usually worn by urban Muslim women in the Balkans, including Bosniaks, Albanians, Greeks, Bulgarians, etc. However, each region has its own design of "dimi". As far as I know, only Turkish women in European Turkey (Thrace) wear "dimi" and a vest as part of their folk costumes.
Thank you for the information. Balkan music and dance have common elements, that came from the long Ottoman rule and migration of people of the regions. The same melody and dance steps, may have Greek, Turkish, Albanian, Macedonian, Bulgarian, Serbian and Romanian versions, each with different names, yet each nation claims the music and dance as their own. For example the dance Paidushko also Pajdushko oro: Bulgarian: Пайдушко хоро; Macedonian: Пајдушко оро, Pajduško oro; Turkish: Payduşka Dansı; Greek: χορός Μπαϊντούσκα: khorós Baïntoúska, are all essentially the same music and dance.
