And Aggie the Master SHOT Maker made SERENA shake her head in amazement & they like each other alot. In fact they high-fived each other after first final. But SERENA is the GOAT it's the given & people that already have plexes do this...misery loves company. Again, anything before the open era isn't even a major. In some Aussie open's, Court had to play only 4 or 5 rounds. Sometimes playing only Aussies. Why don't the Court et al. fan adherents draw this quite rational (or inane) argument to its logical conclusion and assert that Serena must win: 300 grand slam tournaments and be ranked at no.1 for a total of eighty years .... in order to (even) be considered a 'good' player ? Because obviously Serena can never be considered 'great' .... Not when a multitude of players and ex-players all perceive Serena, themselves, as being 'the greatest '... Serena won 0 slam finals against top 10 all-time greats.. Steffi won 8. Serena had 2 years in which she won 3 slams. Steffi had 5 years in which she won 3 or even 4 slams. Serena is at least one level below Steffi. Even nationalistic Americans are slowly coming around and agree with that.

To be the greatest player of all time is more than just singles winning percentages. It's weird to me that nobody talks about doubles, which shows well-roundedness and versatility. Serena has the doubles career to match her singles, which is never considered and too often left out of the conversation. When Serena was winnning her singles grand slams, she was often times winning the same grand slam in doubles as well. Steffi did this once (Wimbledon 1988) but never again in her career. In the grand slams, Steffi focused on singles only, and there's nothing wrong with that, but that's a big reason why I believe Serena was better. Serena was able to be the best in both singles and doubles at the same time consistently. To me, that makes Serena and Navratilova levels above Steffi Graff. Throughout her whole career, Steffi only has one grand slam in doubles. Serena has 14 Grand Slam Doubles titles. Steffi completed the "Calendar Year Golden Slam," which no other player in history has ever done, but Serena has completed a "Career Golden Slam" in Singles and Doubles, which no other player has ever done. When you consider the greatest player of all time, in my opinion, you have to look at doubles too, and Steffi just doesn't contribute much to the conversation at all there. In the open era, I'd have to put even Martina Navratilova over Steffi. That's just my opinion though... 🤷🏿‍♂️ I'm not saying you're wrong and I'm right or vice versa...

I agree, best woman server. Best male server I have seen is Pete Sampras. Saw an interview a long time ago, when Serena said how much she admired Pete's game, so perhaps she took some tips from him. Both of them have a smooth, economical motion, very clean and simple, effortless looking.

I think that when She played Graf she was 17 when she won Indian Wells. This was her second WTA title.

I just hope she can bring it one last time to a major. Her consistency and accuracy has dipped but is still good enough to compete. If only she can up it one last time i think she can win

Greatness is not just measured by statistics, it's measured by overcoming great competition and there's no denying steffi and Serena had more competition than Court.

Nope. lol Karolina did have more aces than Serena but look at how many tournaments they played. In 2016, Serena played 8 tournaments while Karolina played around 22 or 23 tournaments. In 2015. I think Serena played less than 12 tournaments while Karolina played 26. Not surprised Karolina lead in aces. lol I like Karolina as a player. She has a great game but it's very unlikely she will win 20 grand slams due to her lack of court movement. Her court movement is her BIGGEST weakness right now. But I still expect her to be a grand slam winner.

18tangles But that's the whole point the poster is making--yes, you can only play who turns up but the important thing to remember is that not all of the best players turned up to the Australian Open back then. Even if you take Serena completely out of the equation, most claim that Graff is the best and she herself is 2 shy of Court's record--but Graff's titles were all in the Open era. And while Court does have more doubles and mixed titles, those are TEAM achievements and not single achievements so they don't hold as much weight in a singles debate to me.
