this comeback for serena williams against kim clijsters is the greatest comeback that i have ever seen. they both are phenomenal champions but the authority of serena williams is to be admired for ages to arrive.

Mary Carillo really said "Sharapova is the better player"????? Is she insane? She can dislike Serena, I have no ptoblem with that, but give Serena the respect and homor she deserves. Saying Maria is better than Serena is the biggest joke I have ever heard!

wesmartin91 Im SOO glad you made this vid. Not only did you point out some of Serenas best comebacks, but you also exposed Mary Carillo as the racist or at least poorly qualified commentator she is. Carrilo and Pam Shriver have been against the Williams sisters for years. Only recently have these women (Shriver & Carrilo) started giving Serena the credit she deserves. I don't know if Shriver and Carillo are racist or just jealous of Serena, but neither of them made ANY impact on Womens tennis during their VERY forgettable careers as players. I'm sure Kim Clisjers would consider this to be one of her most disappointing if not the most disappointing loss ever. It's one thing to be blown off the court in straight sets by Serena but to be one game away and see the lead systematically disappear can be devastating to any tennis player.

The scary part is that she's added 5 more of these comebacks... in just 1 tournament!

Her dad said when she was 8 or 9, "Serena is like a bulldog she wont let go"

I will never forget this message. What an amazing comeback. I loved when Serena roared and Venus and Oracene clapped and laughed.

There is not one aspect of the game that Sharapova could be considered "better" than Serena. At best you could say that Sharapova's return is on par with Serena's as one of the best in the game. But I wouldn't call it better. And Serena wins in every other category as well. Serve? Forehand? Backhand? Volley? Speed? Mental toughness? Just what area could Sharapova be called "better" in? I'm not seeing it.

@PokerWhale Steffi Graf was a great player but she did dominate in a weak era compared to Serena. The only great players in Steffi's prime were Seles and Sanchez-Viccario. Graf wasn't dominating while Navratilova was still in peak form. And Hingis and Davenport both reached their prime near the end of Graf's run. So really, she didn't have much competition besides Seles for most of those years. Serena has had to deal with Venus, Justine, Kim, Sharapova, Davenport, Hingis, Capriati, and Maruesmo.

I know that Maria is very verbal with her tennis shriek, but you could tell that the great feud between her and Serena was already boiling because she was waaayyy more vocal and tense than against any other player. Meanwhile, Serena is like, "You done? Good, now watch ME work. Time to bow down to the queen."💯🔥🤷🏽‍♀️😂

The intro to this clip is simply epic. The commentator announced everything that was on the line. That loss was devastating for Clijsters.

I think that's what makes people love or hate Serena. She is such a competitor and she hates too lose. But when she does lose, she will kinda be a sore loser. You definitely can't deny her talent and determination. Definitely the best player of her generation and one of the all-time greats.

Finally found it! Thx for uploading. I couldnt remember who it was against. I just remembered Serena came back from either 0-5 or 1-5 to win the match. Never ever seen anything like it. She's the only woman in the open era to have a winning record after losing the 1st set. 42-40. Just found that out. Wowww And yes, I think that's because of her quick problem solving. She's had so many comebacks and it's all ALL due to her problem solving and a little bit of luck!

I remember there was a match in Miami when Serena saved like 7 or 8 match points and came back and won. It was one of the most incredible comebacks I've ever witnessed in my life. Is that video up somewhere?

And that's if you ignore all of her doubles accomplishments (where she's won 13 grandslam titles and 3 Olympic gold medals). Sharapova has previously been ranked world number one for a total of 21 weeks. Serena has previously been ranked number one for 123 weeks and finished #1 two different years (2002, 2009).

Fast forward 10 years from Serena's last loss to Maria and we are now at 16-2 head to head in Serena's favor. Least we forget the Olympic gold medal beatdown!

Serena has the best serve in tennis history in my opinon, Her serve is her weapon which makes her wins games, but also when she is down a set she uses her amazing aces to win the set.

The great comebacks continue... 2012 hasbeen the greatest comeback year from a foot injury and a life threatening blood coat in lungs... 2012 : Wimbledon Singles and Doubles, Olympics Golds in Singles and Doubles, US Open, WTA Tour Championship. In the US Open Final Azarenka as serving for the championship at 5-4(final set), but serena came back and elevated her game and won the match 6-2,2-6,7-5. @leangesdemoi Even so, Serena still beats Sharapova here to even their (then) "rivalry" at two each. She then went on to win the tournament! And before that, Serena already had 6 major titles to Sharapova's 1, including the "Serena Slam". So I don't know how you take a player with those credentials, then watch her beat Sharapova, and say something like "Sharapova is a better player". It's frankly mind boggling!

She's the best player of the past fifty years without any doubt and she can become one of the best of the history. What courage to cancel the second match point with that forehand . Sharapova remains dazed!

This was the best comeback I had ever seen "So I thought". Who would've guessed that this was but one, of many too come? Serena has this level of play that makes everyone of her opponents, question their energy and or level of play! Like with Clijster she was licking her lips for that final shot, to say I just beat Serena. Serena is the queen of the female tennis players. You can try to degrade her or talk negatively about her as a person. But you can´t deny that she is a very strong and tough woman. She is for me the best female tennis player of all time. She made it to the top and she is still there after being active as a professional tennis player for more than 20 years.

Mary Carillo has always been negative towards the WS. She would criticize them like they were consistently losing in first rounds in slams. Sharapova may have been the better player for the first set of that match, but this was Serena was still on her comeback from a drop of form/recovering from knee issues. There's nothing Sharapova does better than either Williams.

lmao at "Sharapova being a better player." Those words must haunt Mary Carillo. I've seen all of their matches. Serena actually beat her in miami in 2004 before losing to her at Wimbledon and the YEC's.

About halfway through the 2nd set Mary Carillo said "this kid's better" after Maria hit a passing shot winner after Serena had come to the net.

This is when Venus and Serena were at the top of their game...they absolutely scared THE HELL out of the WTA and beat bitches DOWN! They were fearless, didn't have any injuries and they KNEW WITHOUT A DOUBT that they were the best players on the tour. They had a sense of cockyness with it too that I loved. (it comes from their daddy lol) UH those were the days...this is when they took tennis to another level 2000-2003. In my eyes (and millions others) they are the 2 greaster female players ever!

Thank you for adding the bit at the end, I HATE carillo, most commentators hate serena because shes cocky, yes she is, but I love that shes HONEST with her cockiness, unlike a couple of other players (ahem) on the mens side. Its suprising how much serena actually upholds the integrity of the sports other than her Horrendous outburst at the USO which she will never live down, but up till that point always had a lot of integrity.

Even without her serve, Serena is better than Sharapova. Sharapova on a bad serving day can't beat most top players. If she doesn't get the point started right, players like Li Na and Victoria Azarenka destroy her from the baseline. Serena is the same. For all the talk about Serena-Sharapova, Kim has really been on the other end of most of Serena's better matches. All Maria has ever done after 2004 is be a footnote in Serena's career.

I would love to see the 1998 Sydney match between Serena and Lindsay. Lindsay led 7-5, 5-1 before Serena staged a dramatic comeback to win it in three. After the match, she said she didn't want to embarrass herself and want it to last at least an hour. This match probably began her career as a great comeback competitor.

this is the kim that i just saw today at the french open, she went from dominating and looking every bit the champ to literally self-exploding... she lead 51 here and she lead 52 today and went on lose.
