Kia ora fellow guitarists! Here's another idiomatic Spanish piece from Joaquin (sometimes spelled Joaquim) Malats. Enjoy and let your fingers fly! (Don't forget to like, sub and hit the notification bell!)
I’m 30 yo relearning classical guitar because pandemic forces us to stay at home and I stumbled upon this music’s sheet...My late teacher haven’t fully taught it yet. Then I searched in RU-vid, where so many guitarists played it blazingly fast - don’t get me wrong, they are good and their interpretation should be good also, except myself too think serenade should be romantic. Then I saw your interpretation. Really touched my soul. Bought your transcription in your site and was not disappointed.
Hi Christopher. I'm glad to hear that you've returned to classical guitar (albeit because of a global pandemic). I'm also very happy to see that you liked my transcription. It is a mixture of the original combined with some of Julian Bream's bits & pieces.
Wow wow wow. Man up front I gotta say I LOVE the way you chose to play this most often blazingly fast interpreted piece. Your version is so relaxed and wonderfully savored. I actually think I could learn it again all the way through with your great tutorial style as well. I made some progress with it about a year ago but stopped because it was too hard trying to play at the tempo of mostly all versions of it by classical guitarists. Hats off to you sir. This is by far the best interpretation I've ever heard! You make each section stand out slowly in it's beauty. Perfect man!!!🤗👌
Anthony thank you so much man. I felt that it is meant to be a serenade and to my knowledge a serenade should be kind of slowish and romantic rather than an excuse to display virtuosic technique. We serve the music, not our egos! I'm really flattered that you think my interpretation is the best. To let you in on a little secret, my wife is a virtuoso singer and I've recently started to ask her advice for interpreting melodies as a singer would and I believe it's had a huge impact on the way I play and present music.
The music is so beautiful. I love your interpretation and rendition. You did really hard work to prepare it: transcription and then achieving a masterly level of performance. Big like :-)
The music really is beautiful. Minor to major and back again is wonderful. I tried to get this learned, transcription done, and the tutorials completed and uploaded in 30 days and I almost did it! Thanks Bogumil :)
Hello brother. Wish you a very happy new year. I wanted to let you know how grateful i am that you have kept many of your videos on youtube free for everyone to watch. I have been following your channel ever since i bought a guitar last year. and over the year i have learned quite a few number of pieces by following your videos. Thanks again and wish you the best in 2019. Would love to thank you in person if you ever visit Jeddah/Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Hey man! It's been ages since I heard from you. How's things? I wish you all the best too and thank you for your kind offer. I lived in Bahrain for a while and during that time I met many Saudis that would come over the King Fahd causeway for business and recreation.
Kia ora my bro - I truly appreciate you dropping such a nice comment on my video. I remember starting a few sets in Dubai with these tunes when we were in NS. Good times my m8
Ola Rodrigo! I'm flattered :) Kia ora from New Zealand. Incidentally, I was in a band with a guy from Chile. Awesome dude and a very solid and talented musician.
Josh! How are you doing? So nice to see the page grows stronger every year! It's been fun to learn from your page back in the day hence you were the only guitarist that teaches every songs i wanted to learn and no money required! Really appreciate what you're doing. Anyways, wishing you the best of luck! Regards.
Hi Afifah, I'm doing really well thank you. Yes thankfully it is continuing to grow gradually. Some things are still free and others require payment to learn but I try to keep everything balanced and useful. Thank you very much for your kind comments and all the best to you for 2019 and beyond!
Thank you very much Malie! Actually perhaps I could recommend two of my own books :) nbnguitar.com/sheet-music/i-albeniz-bundle and nbnguitar.com/sheet-music/francisco-tarrega-bundle
Hi, Joshua. Me again. So I’ve been trying to learn Moonlight Sonata based on your tutorial for like a week and a half now. And the most difficult part for me so far, is the first ever bar chord. I’m having quite a tough time nailing it. However, it’s much easier if I use my pinky instead of my ring finger on the 3rd fret of the D string. The problem is, it makes me feel like I’m cheating. What do you suggest? Thank you.
hi there Joshua! thanks again for your truly wonderful renditions! would you also be open to teaching another Isaac Albeniz piece, called Rumores de la Caleta, by chance?
Thanks Alan. I had no choice on this one because I set myself a challenge on Instagram and one of my previous students said I should do it so it was a matter pride. My reputation and honour was at stake haha
I checked it out. Took me a while to find it though (sucks when people don't put in the repertoire with the timing indications). He certainly is a wonderful guitarist although his interpretation didn't really do it for me. I prefer Julian Bream and Tariq Harb's versions. Thanks for introducing me to a new guitarist though!
I'm too busy to send out score these days so please use the link in the description to access the score and let your fingers fly! Sorry about that Matheus.
