In this video, I venture into the wilderness of Northern Ontario to explore an underappreciated lake, paddling through its serene aquatic garden. This lake has been on my list for a while, and today, I’ll be covering about 9 kilometers, or 5 and a half miles, in a figure-eight pattern, just to get a glimpse of what it has to offer. Early in the trip, I discovered that my trusty camera mount was broken, leaving me without a way to film while paddling. The camera-in-the-life-jacket trick didn’t work, so I pulled up on shore to make some modifications. Fortunately, I was able to resolve the issue and took the opportunity to capture a sneak peek of the lake from the air.
Despite being less than a two-hour drive from Sudbury, this lake seems mostly undiscovered. After some cloud cover during the day, the sunshine eventually returned, allowing me to fully appreciate the pristine waters and the natural beauty of this remote Northern Ontario lake. The wilderness here offers endless adventures-camping, canoeing, kayaking-all in a setting that feels untouched by time. With no cell service, there’s a profound peace and tranquility in being disconnected from the digital world, allowing me to be fully immersed in the moment.
The narrow and bumpy road to this place may deter some, but that’s a small price to pay for the solitude and beauty it offers. A few clouds drifted lazily across the sky, making the sunshine even more precious. Having a vast lake almost entirely to myself is a rare and priceless experience, bringing a sense of calm that’s hard to find elsewhere. I hope you felt that same sense of peace while watching. Thanks for joining me on this adventure.
