Utah HC acquires Mikhail Sergachev from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Conor Geekie, JJ Moser (RFA), 2025 2nd (UTH), & 2024 7th (199).
TRADE 2
The Los Angeles Kings acquire Tanner Jeannot from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for a 2025 2nd (LAK) and a 2024 4th (118).
TRADE 3
Utah HC acquires John Marino and a 2024 5th (153) from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a 2024 2nd (49) and a 2025 2nd (EDM).

Tampa's problem all last year was how terribly they were defensively. Sergachev while a great Offensive D man has always been pretty bad on the Defensive side. Yes he has a lot of upside and if he repeats 22-23 it will look like a bad trade but I honestly feel he was currently overpaid based on what he is an how bad he was on the defensive side. Also a rumor TB is in on Jake Genzel which would essentially be Segachev for Mosser, Geekie and space for Genzel. Also we got a 4th in the Jeannot deal, still his worst deal but it was a sunk cost at this point.

I see what you're saying but someone's gotta be reliable on the blue line, right? If it wasn't Sergachev that's fine by me, but to have so much money committed to Hedman, McDonaugh, and Cernak right now and not much going for the future is scary to me. They'll need to strengthen the blue line both now and in the future to compliment the core of forwards they have on longer-term deals and have the assets to do it, but I can't say I'm super confident in how 2024-25 may be shaping up for them. Time will tell! Thanks for sharing your thoughts :)

Huuuuuge!! I can't remember a bigger one for Arizona/Utah - especially with them on the acquiring end! Maybe the Taylor Hall trade but this feels like another level
