This score is simple but not too simple to make music out of it. Olga did make a good job- no doubt about it. The genius , maestro Andrei Gawrilow ( who won the gold medal in 1974 at the International Tschaikowski Competition in Moscow) played it imho better like the devil himself. Gawrilow is more cool than the devil. Also pretty good performances from Sviatoslav Richter and Yevgeny Kissin. I'm sure that Russians are the pianists in the world because of their tradition in studying music, based on the idea of Heinrich G. Neuhaus and another important issue : it seems to be that all Russians can feel a very special kind of sadness since wich they share with each other in Russia. Plus their ability to think more in pictures instead of analyzing too much "why" a composer composed his opus like he did. Olga Schoeps is a great musician!
