@@stephaniesantiago92this comment misses completely what ballet is about. The perfectionism does not come from not wanting to injure yourself but from making the impossible look effortless perfect and graceful. It’s that quest for perfection what results in injuries.
Every time I hear him speak I am amazed again by how down to earth he is. He has incredible talent but doesn't take himself too seriously. I mean he sounds so likeable and easy to talk to. I enjoy his interviews because he is smart and thinks about what has and is happening around him. In my opinion he is the best ballet dancer, he is just ahead of every one. Technique and emotional expression. And he really is beautiful outside and inside. That's very rare and makes him so special.
@@Katya_Lastochka that is a shame as to me, the Russians seem like a superior people in many ways. Genetics, upbringing, weather conditions, education, language... whatever it is as the reason or influence, both man and woman are amazing.
If viewers have any knowledge of the basics of classical ballet, they'll see Sergei's greatness.....the novice might realize his greatness sooner! Studied, performed and taught classical ballet and I know the best when I see them!
He is just amazing and I love his story - can't stop watching him! Thanks to Steve Cantor for making the documentary. This artist is one in a million -
I'd love to see what he'd do with a Justin Peck piece. I see Sergei as exceptionally talented but who longs to be challenged and excited by his work/performances.
I think that if he had danced in a Company that did more Contempary/Modern/Neo-Classical, he would have been challenged so much more & probably wouldn’t have quit dance at age 21!

agree with Bettina, but I'm afraid that is he going to be 'stuck' in this, typical Eastern European, slavic culture of nostalgia, hartpain and the more expressing of suffering....please, try some lighthearted, happy pieces, as wel ! and eugh.....humor ?
You are an amazing dancer, but i think u have emotional blocks....and u want to change urself...maybe u were too much pushed and ballet makes u feel that u are loved only when u dance....thats not right..LOVE URSELF THE WAY YOU ARE!You dont need all these tattoos ,ur body is a gift from God,not urs,not ballets:(((Love Yourself,u are an amazig guy!
In the way that both have some feminine features looking at their faces but of course their bodies are quite different; Sergei's is a perfect male body, beautiful, almost unbelievably perfect...
Just a person moving his body. Don’t get too excited. If you practice anything 6 hours a day you will become the master. Most people don’t have disposable time, they’re stuck behind desks or in factories or just plain lazy slobbing out on their sofas. He’s lucky to have had the family support, the coaching and the desire to dance. All humans can do this.
