I think this is Horner protecting himself internally. Checo is a Horner guy. Ricciardo is a Horner guy. Max, Yuki and Lawson are Marko guys. Even with the backing of the majority Thai ownership, Horner still has to be surrounded by guys loyal to Marko/Austrian contingient of Red Bull every day. I think he's just trying to keep as many 'soldiers' in his corner as possilbe until the end of the year. If they bin off Checo for Ricciardo, that's one less Horner guy around. If they bin off Checo for Yuki, that's 2 Marko guys in RBR and Horner loses some influence. This is about their internal power struggle, 'truce' or not. Marko got that contract extension a little bit ago, and I think he's a little emboldened by that.

I don't believe it is. I honestly think it's all about money and that this went above the team. Checo brings in a lot of sponsorship and merch money. Red Bull also sell a lot of cans in Mexico and South America because of him. He and the team also has deals with Disney for various programs. I think corporate saw that sponsorship/merch/disney money and decided it's worth keeping him, especially with the amount of money and product they can move around the time of the Mexican GP. It'd be more than enough to offset the cost of losing the WCC.

Checo isn’t doing any worse than last year, he’s just as good (or bad). The difference is now that the Redbull is not dominant anymore and the pack is really close. He could have been 0.5 seconds behind in pace to Max and still be P2, now he does that and he ends up P8. A lot of the people who criticized Checo’s performance, made this exact point. The problem is Red Bull has very few individuals it can replace Checo with. Its clear they don't want Tsunoda in the car next to Max and he'll be gone after the Honda partnership is up, Riccardo is probably gone after this season to make way for Lawson, and Lawson himself probably needs a full season to see if he's ready for the main team. Now Carlos Sainz has signed for Williams, there really isn't anyone outside of the Red Bull program worth signing (and also Sainz and his family had their own complicated problems with Jos Verstappen, which made a Red Bull return for him unlike). Checo is probably safe for the first half of 2025, which could be really bad for Red Bull if he doesn't get his act together.
@RockSolitude

That makes absolutely no sense. Lawson needs several seasons before he could even think of getting into the RB next to Max. Ricciardo is a straight upgrade to Checo and so is Yuki. I saw this take online, but I'll echo the sentiment: Red Bull in the 2020s have morphed into the modern equivalent of Benetton in the Early to Mid 1990s. They have a tendency to make cars that are fast but tricky to drive at the limit, they have a once-in-a-generation driver leading the team and getting the absolute maximum out of the car most of the time and while the second driver is good enough to be on the grid, they can't get anywhere near the pace of the team leader and get thrashed in the press and by fans as a result. @EntropicExergy You sound mature, level-headed, and knowledgeable about F1. "It's designed to be fast.." The Red Bull car has an incredibly tight front end specifically catered to Max's driving style. The front end is tweaked to be tighter throughout each season. Most F1 drivers prefer a loose front end with a tight backend. Max is the opposite, and the Red Bull car is built to fit Max's driving style. It's the equivalent of playing a video game with all sensitivity settings set to maximum. As you so eloquently put it, anyone with any knowledge of F1 already knows this as it's been openly talked about by former teammates of Max for years now. In terms of your other comment, "it's the way to build the fastest car." No, it's not. It's just a driving style preference.
@EntropicExergy
@EntropicExergy Месяц назад
@@vanillatornado8390 Yes i do sound that way, since i actually know how it's not just a preference. If you knew even the most basic things about physics, you'd know oversteer is generally the fastest way to go around a lap. Since physics dictates everything, including F1, you'd know that it's not just a preference, it is absolutely essential to being the fastest. Unless you have a cheat of an engine, like merc had, and no competitor, it is rather irrelevant. But in a tight field, it's things like this and stuff like skill level allowing you to handle oversteery cars, that makes the actual difference. But hey, if you think of it as some simple game where physics has no say in things, sure, you'd sound real knowledgeable and mature. In your own mind that is.

As much as i believe he doesn't deserve his seat, dropping him now would be senseless, for multiple reasons. -Lack of an adequate sub. That is the main one, Ricciardo gives no guarantee whatsoever and has not earned a second chance in the team as he is overall out-performed by Tsunoda, while the latter is everything but impressive (i mean, sure, he is now a solid midfield driver, but he's not even remotely close from being a competitive top team driver, even as a n°2). Lawson is a reflexy driver and needs more time, high risks of being a Gasly/Albon. -Next tracks are mostly tracks that fits Pérez's. Monza and Singapore puts an emphasis on good throttle application and right amount of rear load, particularly the latter with 90 degrees corners, which is Pérez's main strength.

On the other hand, as you said, Checo brings £30 million quid with him. Does anyone think those sponsors would have stuck around if RB dropped Checo mid season? Does anyone realistically think Red Bull would just be able to casually fix that £30 million quid in their budget? Anyone thinking that Perez was ever going anywhere had clearly just bought into the absolute nonsense in the media. Furthermore, if he does not perform well at Azerbaijan, a circuit which he rules at (as was said in the video), then that's a reflection on how poor the Red Bull has become, not on Perez.

Umm that 30 million is already promosed for 2024 via contracts likely. Very rare a sponsor can go 1/2way thru season then decide to pull funding unless they fail. The real benefit to checo isnt 30million its his marketing value and sales of Rbr stuff in central america

That quote at 6:48..... weird. Aren't all 4 RB drivers (Max, Checo, Daniel, Yuki) "red bull racing drivers"? Isn't that how they moved them around so freely previously? That everyone driving for the main or the sister team is actually under the same org? For me that quote could still see them putting Checo into the RB, and "see him perform on circuits where he has done well before, after the summer break" To which you can say "but why would checo take that demotion", which is fair, but if he does indeed have break clauses that could be activated, he has 2 options: accept the demotion or get sacked during the summer break. Red bull isn't struggling with drivers, checo knows that he does not hold any cards. If he does not accept the demotion, redbull can just put Lawson into the 4th car and decide whom to put into which seat.

You should make another video about Norris soon. Although people are hyping him up for a drivers championship this or next year I don’t think he’s ready. In clear air Lando has been great but wheel to wheel he is not ready, if or if not he was fighting max. He has been terrible in race starts and has consistently left the door wide open (China sprint, Austria Sprint, Spain, UK and Hungary). People are quick to jump on Max’s radio messages and call him a crybaby but Lando has done the same thing. Specifically in Hungary he tried blackmailing his team by pushing his car when he was told not to while crying on the radio for the whole race, and then barely celebrating with Oscar. It was childish from him and if it were anyone else who did the things he has done this season they would be the most hated driver. Like his engineer said championships require teams and if he pulls stunts like Hungary again Oscar might not help him anymore. Oscar is quickly catching up to him in just his second year as an f1 driver. He has all but solved his tyre wear, is extremely calm and is willing to do what ever the team says, even letting his teammate past to the podium in his home race. I would definitely say Oscar is a better chance at being the first of them to win a championship

So where did they say it's his last chance? You say you don't have anything against Checo, your thumbnail and start are similar to those of the hundreds of clickbait channels (ok maybe not that bad but it is moving that way) and not really fair if you don't have anything against him, which is a shame as I know you have more substance (which you do see again later in a video). Yes there are many rumors about Checo being let off and probably last chance calls, but those are not from the team but all these youtube streamer and gossip channels. People always twist the things Marko and Horner say, usually when Marko said something or Horner said something you should actually find the original interview, especially the german translated interviews of Marko are almost certainly selective quoting which paint a very different picture. There is a reason why RB is keeping Checo, I personally think (yes also speculation) it is because they know the car is actually bad now (and ofcourse C3, C3, C2 wasn't a very good choice unless you hope he can catch drivers for Max, not for his own race and battery issues aren't helping either), Checo is willing to make sacrificesto his race to help Max whenever the order comes (and they come, they have happened already this year and not 1 time) and I think Marko likes Checo, Horner likes Checo and he is probably the only driver they can agree upon, so he brings peace inside the team, which I guess they still need. Baku won't be a good one I fear unless they can find balance in that car again, there's a reason why Max is cursing, becoming a road demon again and is critisizing the car left and right, it was build on his style and even he hates it, they went over the edge with the car. Tbh I think Newey leaving caused RB to take a hit so much harder then they are willing to admit.
