Hannibal Letter is one of my favorite characters of all time. I read all the books and loved them and I loved the Hannibal television series. I'm not a fan of Patterson; I read there of the Alex Cross books and all seemed to just melt together. Another excellent video from you!
Thank you so much! Hannibal Lecter is one of my favorite characters ever too. I never actually finished the show, but I really want to just rewatch the whole of it. It was just awesome. Yeah that was the only James Patterson book I finished. I loved the one, but couldn't get into any others enough to finish them.
@@JoanieMaeZie Please, please, please finish Hannibal. Dancy and Mikkelsen both deserved Emmys. The creator, Bryan Fuller, is still hoping to find a network so there can be a season four. As for Patterson I got turned off by him because into the third book I realized I had read the same thing in the first two books. It's like he uses a template to write his novels.
@@WritteninBlood I will! I've heard they have material for another season, but that it doesn't look likely it'll get done. :/ Crossing my fingers for some day.
Awesome Review As Always. I was wondering with talk of serial killer's. Do you like reading true crime books? and if you do wich one's do you recommend?
Try reading about the real thing . Ed Gein is stranger than fiction . Some good audiobooks about him on RU-vid . John Wayne Gacey book called Killer Clown . Ted Bundy In His Own Words video is on RU-vid . That one will creep out anybody . Ed Kemper interviews also on RU-vid . Natas Liah . Find peace through understanding . Pleasant dreams
Ooh some good ones here! I really loved Intensity when I read it years ago. I also read Red Dragon a long time ago with the intention of reading all of the Hannibal Lector books and I just never read any others! I need to do that!
Chapter32 I would definitely recommend finishing! I think they are all fantastic books. I was really impressed with Intensity. I’d read a bunch of other Koontz books a long time ago. Intensity was the first I’d picked up in a long time. Definitely a good choice.
Full Dark, No Stars sounds like a great collection! Honestly, I haven't read a King college I haven't liked overall. Some serial killer books I've liked are Punishment by Scott J Holliday and Pretty Girls Dancing by Kylie Brant.
I liked Red Dragon and Silence of the Lambs, but I kind of found Hannibal too disturbing to enjoy. The ending was fucked up, and I don't really think it was believable. I never got around to Hannibal Rising because of it. I liked Full Dark No Stars too, although I find sometimes shorter stories less memorable. I guess it's simply because I'm not living in that world as much. For me, the most memorable story in Full Dark No Stars was Fair Extension. I mean, there's nightmares, and then there's inflicting brain damage on a person's kids, and having his whole family suffer a fate worse than death. Yikes! I kept hoping that the main character would get his come-upance, but it never happened. I walked away angry. In my headcannon though, Dave actually did give away his soul when he made that deal. After all, why would a guy who has the power to alter reality like that need Dave's money? It seemed like Dave's family's GOOD fortune was a result of the peddler too after all. Alex Cross books are extremely readable. Some Day I might marathon the entire series. Still, some of Patterson's plot twists are a bit far fetched. I quite like Intensity too!
I really enjoyed Hannibal actually, and Hannibal Rising is one of my favorite books of all time! If you didn’t want to finish Hannibal, though, I think you might not want to continue. Funny that the shortest story was the most memorable for you in Full Dark. It was interesting, but my least favorite. I’d like to reread the whole thing, though, and maybe I’d get more out of it again. I don’t think I thought it through as much as you did. I tried another Alex Cross book and put it down, but that was a long time ago. I’d like to give them another shot too. Thanks for the comment! Any related recommendations for me?
@@JoanieMaeZie Heh, I feel like saying I generally think of myself as having a high tolerance for disturbing, at least with fiction. I've read almost all of Stephen King's books and liked almost all of them, but the corruption of Clarice just seemed too much for me. Haha, yea, I did kind of contradict myself in finding the shortest story the most memorable didn't I? For this case the exception proves the rule though. I should say I really liked this whole collection! I didn't find it unlikably disturbing. :) I just added you on Goodreads. We have a lot in common! I actually had a hard time thinking of a really good serial killer story you hadn't read, which is strange considering i read a fair amount of thrillers. Anyway, i settled on "Streets of Laredo" by Larry McMurty. It's a western about a bounty hunter (and his Ka-tet :)) who are hunting down a deadly train robber. It's a sequel, but I think it would work fine as a standalone too. I might be stretching to call the villains serial killers since there're really just looking for money, but there is a lot of murder.
thesnake52000 I can definitely understand about the end of Hannibal. Saw you on Goodreads :) and I agree. Thanks for the recommendation! That sounds interesting. Maybe I’ll have to stretch my comfort zone a little with a western.
@@JoanieMaeZie it's one of very few westerns I've ever read actually. The first book is great as well, and won the Pulitzer .Prize in 1986. I just discovered there's some prequels too, which i never read.
