Series Recap: The Sens beat the Rangers

GO SENS!!! What I love about this team, besides the character and the underdog mentality surrounding this team, it's that they just won't go away. They'll score two goal in the closing minutes to tie it and then close it out in the first five minutes of overtime. They'll spread their scoring out or beat you one player. Anderson can have a terrible period and let in several goals and not only does he get back in the game and stand on his head, the team never gives up on him. We're 4-2 at home, 4-2 away (two of those wins series winning wins), and we're 5-1 in overtimes. We are the definition of clutch, of come from behind...up until game six against NYR we had the lead for 13mins and they had the lead for 146mins, they outscored us, and we still won! Not only can we come from behind seemingly at will, but once we get a series in our favour, we close it out. I think we have at least a 50/50 shot of beating Pittsburgh. We definitely have the advantage on defense, possibly in goaltending too (unless Fluery plays how he did in Game 7 every night), and I think we can limit Pittsburghs offense enough to give our goal scorers a shot at winning us 4 games.

FINALLY STEVE GIVES THE SENS CREDIT WHAT

As a Sens fan, here's my breakdown of what I've seen over 2 rounds of watching every game: 1: Erik Karlsson or Bust 2: The Comebacks for Ottawa are INSANE 3: Anderson needs to continue standing on his head if the Sens want to move on 4: The Sens, as a whole, need to stop going down early if they wanna beat Pittsburg/Washington AND 5: You can never turn a blind eye against the Sens. There is no reason why the Sens should be doubed. As a Fan, the 3rd Round will be the Biggest challenge in 10 good years. They have the power to make it happen. Do I think they make it to the Cup? If Anderson Stands on his head, and Karlsson keeps playing like he has [WITH 2 FRACTURES IN HIS FOOT], then the Sens, actually, might make it. #GOSENSGO #ALLIN PS: Thank you for covering the leaf chair.

This is an excellent summary of the Sens - Rangers series. It contains lots of good points that are delivered with the enthusiasm that Ottawa has earned.

Sens deserve it more than anyone. This team has played with so much heart all season, went through so much diversity and if they won the cup it would be too great

The issue for the sens in round 1 and 2 was stone and turris were as bad as they could possibly be. They're now both playing extremely well and look dangerous whenever they have the puck. They don't have the fire power up front like crosby or ovechkin but they have a well balanced group of forwards. If stone, turris, hoffman, ryan, macarthur, pageau and brassard all play at the level they are right now anything can happen vs the caps/pens. I think they have a very good and yet underrated team.

I'm such a proud Sens fan, nobody predicted us here and it feels good. Next round is going to be tough but I believe in us. Go Sens Go!!

I'm a Flames fan who's been rooting for both the Preds and the Sens since the first round. Low and behold both of them are in the Final Four. What a playoffs this has been.

All I can say about this series is that the Senators didn't beat the Rangers, the Rangers beat themselves. They should've closed them out at least in five but failed to protect the leads in games two and five. They obviously dominated them in games three and four at home. Anyways congrats to the Senators. They took advantage of the Rangers mistakes and capitalized on it in those overtime games. Their resiliency and luck I guess helped them in this series.

As a die hard Rangers fan I would like you Steve to address one major flaw in our team (minus the defense because they're just horrendous). But me and so many other Rangers fans believe that the horrific game management of Alain Vigneault cost us those games. Having Marc Staal and Nick Holden on the ice late it games. Its really simple math: Nick Holden + Marc Staal + On the Ice late in the game = GOAL. And not playing possibly our second best defenseman in Brady Skjei at the end of Game 5 really killed us. I just want to know your take on this situation. Thanks

If any team can/could beat Pittsburgh it would be Ottawa or Toronto. Both are fast enough to match the speed of Pittsburgh and both are more physical. Not saying the sens will win but they can give Pittsburgh a run for their money

When was the last time Leafs actually won a playoff round?? Heh and their window is already starting to close fast due to poor cap management and roster flaws. Yet the Sens are only 3 years and an OT goal removed from almost certainly winning a cup. Next week they might win the Lafrenier and/or Byfeild sweepstakes...maybe both along with the Islanders pick in round 1 and a punch of 2nds to add to their top rated farm system and Chabot/Tkatchuk. I am saying they will be a powerhouse soon.

Alain Vigneault needs to be fired, I think... he made terrible choices: -LOOK A THE FREAKING ICE TIME OF HOLDEN AND STAAL -why did he bench Buchnevich???!!! I mean, my Rangers need some changes... Lundqvist, Girardi, Holden, Staal, Klein ans Nash have to go for youger players... We have to resign Brendan Smith and Clendening... We need to give Skjei more responsbilities...
