SERIKAYA is a pudding made out of jaggery. It is the no 1 dessert from Sri lanka and most commonly known as WATTALAPAM. #jaggerypudding is a very famous #Srilankan dessert.
Although it is influenced from the java strip many moons ago, this dessert has a crowning glory in Srilanka. Although mainly made by the Srilankan muslim community, its a dessert enjoyed by all communities alike.
There are many recipes out there, however this recipe is a quick and easy because the method is given to us by an expert who makes the wattalapan with such ease. Some people like to eat it warm but you can also keep it refrigerated and eat it cold. Either way its just so delicious.
The ingredients are below:
•7 eggs (for 6 people).
•1 pound of srilankan jaggery (palm sugar).
•pinch of nutmeg.
•2 TBS Of vanilla.
•2 cups of thick coconut cream. (if you cant find fresh coconut milk , you can use coconut milk powder or canned coconut cream too).
