Serious Message: how i almost lost my life.... 

I am so sorry that happened to you. I totally understand how frightening that must have been. An actor from the daytime soap opera General Hospital was just shot to death here in L.A. a few days ago when he was walking to his car after his bartending job ended for the night, and found three guys stealing his catalytic converter. He hadn't even confronted them and they shot him dead in the street. If you EVER walk up on a scene like that again, immediately turn around, get the Hell out of there, and call 911. I hope you have a professional who can help you through the trauma. Please take care of yourself. We need your voice in this crazy world. I am so glad you're OK! ❤

If you need to see a therapist to talk this through, please do get help. This was meant for you to share. Someone needs to hear this. Kids don't understand that life is not a video game. That if you unalived someone, they do not come back.

Tim, glad that you are okay and you didn't lose your car or anything else. Listen, I know that you are still shaken up about this, but as a historian, I just wanted to give you some perspective real quickly to help your feelings about mankind. Tim, 200, 300 years ago, people were holding up stagecoaches and people on horses. It's not just this generation or the fact that you have a nice car. People are just like this. Yet, there are many MORE people in this world who find that kind of stuff abhorrent, who are just as likely to be victims to this kind of violence as you, and who totally commiserate with you. When I lived in downtown Baltimore in the late 1990s, they had one of the highest murder and crime rates in the nation. I lived in walking distance to the Orioles ballpark and Inner Harbor - really downtown, in one of the beautiful brownstones restored into apartments for young professionals. My car was broken into 3 times, stolen one of those times (I traded it in the day after it was recovered). The apartment below mine (street level, I was 2nd floor) was broken into one night when I was the only person home in the entire building. I didn't learn about it until the next morning when the other renters came home. The police weren't kind to us, either, when we were VICTIMS of crime. However, I still loved Baltimore, because you have to take the bad with the good. I will leave you with this nugget of knowledge I learned in grad school: archeologists found a tablet in the Middle East, written in one of the earliest handwriting styles, cuneiform, by ancient Sumerians, I think, about 7,500 years ago. In this writing, someone was complaining about kids "these days" who didn't have the same values or respect for people that this person's generation did. It's amazing that this cuneiform tablet survived this long, but we all laughed so hard when we read about the translation. It's the human condition. Glad you're okay, buddy. Take care of yourself. It sucks that people don't want to let you enjoy things you worked hard to get. It's not about generations, it's about certain types of people, who come about in every generation, who just want to take what isn't rightfully theirs, and don't care who they hurt. They have been taught to worship material objects and money instead of the things that matter the most, the things that we take with us when we die: the intangible qualities that make us human. Unfortunately, those people have always existed and always will exist. It's up to every generation to NOT raise those people. To make sure the children we have access to learn that material items are NOT as important as a life. That's what we all need to agree upon. It's not anti-capitalist or socialist, it's just pro-humanity. Take care, man!

I am so sorry this happened to you. PTSD is real and being shot at is no small deal. please seek out a therapist if you need to, talk therapy can help you put all of this into perspective so that you can move past it with a better sense of yourself and a healthy understanding of what is at the heart of the PTSD. sometimes it takes some time to find the person you feel most comfortable with but don't give up. if you need to take some time off, i'm sure your supporters will understand and will be here when you return. best of luck friend, i'll be praying for you!

Its very scary, 34yrs ago a good friend of mine was killed in a robbery attempt by teenagers, we were both 25yrs old back then! I think of him so often-he didn’t get to live to see his 30’s, 40’s & or his 50’s. In a moment everything can change! So glad you are ok but I think you have to continue to be careful out there! There are many who might be jealous of your fame & success! Stay strong & keep praying🙏

How awful. I am so sorry that happened to you. It makes sense that your brain is on high alert trying to keep you safe after that experience, especially as it feels like you were targeted. Stay safe and talk to a counselor or trauma therapist if you feel the support would help. It's not healthy for us to be stuck in that state.

I am from CA and worked in Oakland. I hear you about so much crime and things that shock you for such crazy things. It is understandable that you feel the way you do. I hope life gets better for you. I see the pain, stress, and just being tired on your face. There are still good people out there. Good for you still talking about situations so other can learn from this.

I'm physically disabled & had my purse stolen from right off my shoulder while walking to the bus stop one morning on my way to work years ago. I understand the PTSD. For a long time after that, I'd almost jump out of my skin if someone even brush past me while on my lunch break .

We live in very dark times. The violence is uncanny. Very traumatic experience there. God bless you man. Stay strong. I experienced similar circumstances recently myself, very discouraging not feeling safe.

It’s crazy you said this happened at 3:00am at night, because that’s the witching hour. A lot of dark demonic activity is designated for that time. Thank God you’re still here with us! 🙏🏽

A coworker of mine experienced something similar. He thought he could get through it without help but 6 months later he was really Downhill mentally, emotionally. Ended up Losing his job. Don’t wait to get professional help, even if you don’t think you need it. Don’t wait. ✨

My car was stolen in February! The police found it a week later. It’s all fixed and rolling. Call 911. Do not endanger your life. I went through a lot of stress but faith pulled me through. Your faith will be tested but please survive. Get a good steering wheel lock in addition to your security. They won’t get anywhere without a steering wheel. Stay strong. You are loved by many people out there. Even President Obama recognized you for your work and character.

You survived, and we are grateful for that! A car or any possession is not as valuable as a human life. Things can be replaced, humans cannot. I had to think hard about this when a friend from highschool was shot and killed by carjackers. He had confronted them in the parking garage and they killed him. I know I don't want to die over a car nor do i want anyone else to get shot over any material possession. Again, I'm so glad you're still with us! That's scary Tim! My mom was carjacked a few years back. Thankfully she was unharmed & 3 ppl were caught. But it was at her home and it robbed her sense of security. I understand the fear, anger and feeling violated. Glad you escaped the danger. It does get better over time. Prayers my friend.

I’m proud of you for not making a very scary and life threatening situation worse. I’m also proud of you that you recognize your PTSD symptoms. They are real and valid. As many others have said, please seek professional counseling. There are new therapies available to treat PTSD so you can heal from the trauma faster than going it alone. You are an incredible inspiration with an amazing mother. A therapist that specializes in PTSD and/or treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT),EMDR. Each individual is different in what works for them. Therapy will help you heal quicker and avoid deeper problems for you. (Will also help your loving momma to know that her beautiful boy is doing everything possible to heal and be the best version of himself!) This crazy world needs you and more people like you! wow you've been through it! That ptsd is brutal and I have a form that goes all the way back to infancy. They call that cptsd with the c standing for complex. Trauma in all it's lovely forms leaves you rewired. There's lots to read about it. I too am Christian but not typical. One of my favorite reminders is "Feed what you want to grow." Also if you are not pleasing God then you are pleasing the enemy.

What a horrible experience. My Father in-law was in the Korean War and told us how bad and terrifying it was having people shoot at him. After those battles he ruined his life with alcohol. I hope you are able to work out this pain with a profession a therapist. Keep talking about this to get through this.

Oh sweetie, I am so grateful that you are alive. I am so sorry you went through that trauma. I am a senior citizen, but I feel for your and younger generations more than any. Too many right lessons not being taught to many, and then Life’s hard lessons take over so that that’s all that some end up knowing. I have a great-grandchild coming soon and I worry for that child already. Prior generations have dropped the ball on our young ones. And I will apologize on behalf of all for that. I have loved watching you explore the awesome world of music. When you got your car i worried about you being in accident. Losing you to a car thief wasn't a thought. I am sorry you have been through 2 possible life ending experiences. I used to work wwith people with PTSD and there are helpful skills you can learn to fight it. Please check out the help available.
