Well this type of design is called "Anti service design", and like you said, is built in this way to make the device basically garbage after some minor failure and you have to buy another, usually i have to apply some heat in the clips that mantain the case from the interior so the plastic can bend and make more room for levering it, for repairs like changing some faulty capacitor or installing brand new batteries, also, when there is some overload that critically affect the UPS, the junctions between the power AC cable and the MB tend to break because of joule's effect, and all that is easy to repair, but the effort to open this is what make you think "Nah, im getting a new one" Hahaha.

Maybe is gonna be nice to extend cable to make external battery
