Sermon on Suffering Well 

I didn't realize this sermon was 3 years old when it popped up on my feed. I have been going through a lot of hardships lately. I have been lost, alone, angry and resentful. I've had people I thought I could rely on turn their backs on me and accuse me of things I would never do. Ive been trying to make some sense of it all and then I see this. Thank you for making this video, and thank God for allowing this message to reach me.

It's the day after Christmas and I just cracked apart last night after all that has been going on for so many years. Thank you, God and Apologia church for this message...just at the right time...it was either getting the truth in or checking myself into a hospital. I pray for my suffering brothers and sisters across the world who don't even have fellowship, the Bible or a church or access to Biblical teaching like this.

I came out of a moderate Word of Faith movement VERY recently. The entire time I was taking in these teachings I was constantly contemplating how church could enlarge the will of man as to force the will of God to bow to it. Constantly I questioned what I was taught and how the Gospel and God’s sovereignty were not the forefront or foundation of the message. I never understood the sovereignty of God but I knew that it was absent and needed a resolve in my heart and in the church. Then God showed me Apologia Studios compounded with my devotional study of Romans. I have never felt so liberated in my walk with the Lord and I now know the peace of seeking God in the midst of all circumstances. The Scriptures have never been so clear as they are now and I am amazed at how beautiful God is in ALL things. Thank you Lord for blessing the Body with Apologia Studios. I am grateful.

Help me to trust your plan in this devastation in my life right now. Help me to not try to manipulate the situation to make me feel better because I want to run from suffering. Let your will me done in my life , regardless of the great pain I face. In Jesus mighty name

I know I’m a spirit. Countless places in the New Testament proves it and ironically also in Romans 8:16 saying: “The Spirit itself joins with our spirit in testifying that we are children of God-“. This is why our Lord said: “As you sent me into the world, so did I send them into the world;”. So as our Lord say that he had a former life we had to and I’m longing for the Lord but also for his and my father. And I know that the Father is longing for me as told in James 4:5.

🌈Pastor, it's the spirit of the Lord that just all the sudden made me want to tell you this, just make your sure that you're not living for the things of this world. Because that will keep you from eagerly expecting to see our wonderful Lord and savior Christ Jesus, who will Usher us away from this world that we simply don't belong to, and take us into the Glorious Kingdom of Heaven, where we will always dwell with the Lord. Please continue to pray for all the saints, the entire body of Christ, that we are all counted worthy in the eyes of our beloved Jesus Christ, to be caught up into the clouds to be with him when it comes to redeem us from this world that we simply don't belong to. HalleluYAH to the lamb of God. I pray that all things are well with your granddaughter, and your entire family. You are a godly man, feel the Holy Spirit, although I've heard many people saying that Lord, if you do this for me, I promise you that I'll serve you for the rest of my life. I thought that cutting deals with the Lord is not the right thing to do according to scripture. But, if you did not know that back then, then it really is a mute point. I need to tell you something, back in 2002, my ex-girlfriend and I, I was 25 back then and she was 23 I think, we went to Catholic Church of course, once in a blue moon, we have no relationship with God. Except after taking the Eucharist and kneeling down and praying I just remember always taking a lot longer than most people, and that has nothing to do with me, it's the indwelling Holy Spirit. Well, right before I went to the fire academy and made a career as a firefighter paramedic, I was unfortunately fornicating with her, luckily she found out very quickly and she asked me to drive her to the abortion clinic, and so I did. Never once did the thought of God and the destruction of human life come into my mind and I really wish it had because you know, it's so weird, after that, even though we're divorced right now, but after that, we kept trying to have a baby. I remember being in a Mediterranean cruise and she just wanted to have a baby so badly. I think she just wanted to see the my child and then the dump me. But thanks to God's mysterious and glorious and wonderful ways, and this mercies that are made new everyday, we never got pregnant and actually delivered a baby. The abortion occurred in the first one or two weeks. Since then you have showed me that pre-born is probably one of the best ways to reach out to these family members and let them know that adoption is a very very lucrative choice because there's so many parents out there that just want to give their love to a child. And then, for a woman to be on the operating room table, or in pre-op, and then have a Healthcare practitioner do a sonogram of the living and breathing infant inside the mother's womb, well, that is just so powerful! I wish that we had that (the sonograms) at that time but God knows exactly what he's doing for our lives. So that was in 2002, and 2005, little balloons to me, but diagnose later on, she has started cancer and I noticed that she's losing a lot of weight and that her emotions are just very very all over the place. Many Outburst of anger, she was not happy. When I met her she was such a wonderful and exuberant young lady. Although she was definitely a rebel, she did not have any mal intentions toward anyone, you know what I'm really mean, and so we got married. It Was if their retail wedding and I'm just so glad that we did not get pregnant. We want to Kauai on our honeymoon, and then 2005 on Valentine's Day Out of all days, she has her bags packed, I have no idea what's going on because I'm watching TV in the living room, and she comes by me and says that I'm leaving, I'm going to my parents. And we had just finished purchasing this beautiful 4-bedroom, 3-bath house on a canal, and respect it out because was pre-construction. And the house quadrupled in value while it was being built. But you know something interesting, I did not feel as a filled with a Target on my back at all. There was no spiritual warfare going on because we were right were Satan wanted us to be. And I thank you so much Jesus Christ that you saved a Wretch like Me, and not only did you do that but you saved my four-year-old daughter at that time from 2 full minutes of cardiac arrest. The presenting rhythm was asystole. Because of my 20-year tenure as a firefighter paramedic I know that people who go into asystole, whether they be young or old, are very hard to get out of. And if you're not doing really really good CPR and oxygenating the Brain with a bag valve mask, that person will either die or will have severe deficits if they happen to survive. You know, for my four-year-old daughter, her name is Gabriela by the way, she was in the ICU when I arrived. At this point the mother was not alerting me to any demos going on in the children's lives. I'm not grumbling and complaining about that, but, as a data point, I just wanted to tell you that it got worse and worse and worse up until 2022 right now. Can you imagine a? I remember her in counseling telling me I don't believe in a God that you believe in at all! And she had just started dating her boss, which happens to be a wealthy Jewish land developer. She fell for the biggest trap from the devil, and that is that the love of money is the root of all evil. You would think this would make me turn to Jesus Christ, but it didn't. I became a man or and huge time womanizer and, I met my second wife six months later, I was drunk and she was drunk at a Halloween party. And get this, I was the hoe, scratch that. She was the hoe and I was the pimp. We were drunk, would it do anything that night, we just waited for three nights later and had sex like it was nothing. And I truly regret ever ever ever having sex with someone who does not put the Lord Our God first and foremost in their lives, me myself included. It's so important, that Paul teaches us on this. Well, now comes the perfect part. I started walking with Christ, four years ago, now 47 years old. Impastor Jeff Durbin, I have enjoyed watching you in the past, you have much passion for the work that Christ Jesus did on the cross for all the sins of mankind. I just do not understand why you have this Kingdom Come theology. There is no Revival coming, maybe some small Pockets around the Earth, but overall, the Antichrist is going to be released very soon. Because the economic forum is ready, and it will never let a good crisis go to waste. Another Watchman made this short video and I thought it was very powerful. I may forget to inserted because I have to go all that's not true I have another phone here stand by. If not, I'll just go ahead and make a reminder in my Google home and inserted later on. How is it that God would ALLOW our sufferings yet he ORDAINED these to pass in our lives. Is it to allow, as if satan brought it up at that moment before the suffering or planned from eternity pass? PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

The Prosperity gospel is so damaging.

I was hoping this message would help me. This past November I lost a baby we as a whole family were praying for. Not only did I lose our baby but I had to undergo chemotherapy to stop the pregnancy which made me feel shameful bc I felt like I was killing my baby. To top it off the shots didn't work and I ended up in the ER which resulted in an emergency surgery to remove my tube and a piece of my uterus. What kills me is that my baby almost made it! A little more to the left and my baby would have implanted in my womb! I don't understand what I'm supposed to learn from all this. To go through all that suffering and the memory of praying and hoping ultrasound after ultrasound in Hope's to see our baby in my womb and nothing! Instead I ended up with a c-section scar and 2 holes in my abdomen and missing a tube and a piece of my uterus. Now I'm losing my hair and our sex life is suffering! I stay up at night trying to talk to God but all I can do is cry. My faith is struggling. I keep wondering why? If it wasn't Gods will why allow me to get pregnant at all! I would have taken the hint that the answer was no but to allow me to get pregnant than inflict all this suffering? God knew how much I loved him why test me like this??

"Jesus wept." At the beginning and ending of job God says good things about Job. Jesus had sweat like drops of blood in the garden before his arrest. Jesus prayed to the Father to take the cup away from Him but also that His will be done. It is not by trying to go around or force a change of our emotions that we show our faith in God. It is a going to God within the midst of our pain, suffering and emotions that we show our dependence on Him. that is the teaching and examples in scripture over and over again. We are children of God who can cry abba Father. our suffering is not just trying to teach us. He is our Father. One purpose is teaching but comfort is also very important. God knows we live in a world that is fallen and not the way it should be. This world stinks because of sin. Death and suffering should not happen. that is why we do see Jesus weeping and going through all the emotions. God would not be a good God if He is a cold teacher just trying to make us act better. I would not even do that to my kids and I am definitely not a good father like God. the whole point of Romans 8 is grace, mercy, and compassion that we have in Christ compared to the law (end of Romans 7). Paul asked who could save him form his due based upon the law? He was doomed not because the law was evil but because Paul was evil. But now there is no condemnation in Christ. the Father is for us if we are unified in Christ. The theme (really one of themes) of this chapter is not God is going to use suffering to teach us. It is that when we do suffer we can remember that the very God of the universe loves us. We can run to Him . the chapter is not about making us feel guilty or how to suffer well. The chapter is freeing. We are now adopted Children of God. nothing can separate us form his love. This is a very comforting chapter. It is not meant to hit us over the head with more law or make us feel guilty. We are freed from our guilt and shame. Not be cause what we did or have done. No, but because of Jesus Christ. But we are free from it. So I am free to remember that since the God of the universe is for me than who can be against me without fear that if I am not fully sanctified in my suffering then I should just be happy that god is teaching me something through my suffering.
