A cheerful “giver” could be anything not just money. You can give a helping hand or give clothes, shoes, school supplies, food, gas money, etc. Also want to say that the only ones robbing God is the rich pastors who are taking from poorer people and not helping anybody.

Keep going. And don't settle for less than the true Gospel. So far in my search the closest to the bible are true baptists. But listen to them all to get the whole truth. Put every doctrine to the test and let Jesus and Holy Spirit guide as far as you are willing to go.

Tithe According To Biblical Scripture Tithe was not about money and to the contrary, tithe was all about giving/paying a tenth percent of food. Also, First Fruit in the biblical context was about food. God, gave specific instructions as to whom had to give/pay tithe ( tithing ) and it was The Herdsmen and The Farmers. When/where/whom the tithing was given to ? ( For Yourself , Levy, Priesthood, Poor, Widows, Fatherless, Homeless, and Foreigners. What was the reason for tithing ? To feast, eat in front of The Lord and to learn to fear The Lord. Tithing was an Old Testament Law ( 613 Mosaic Law ) for the tribes of Israel and not everyone had to tithe under that Law. Jesus did not tithe because he was a carpenter nor any other occupation that requires to earn wages, Shekels ( Wage Earners Were Exempt ). Not even the gentiles had to tithe nor Peter as he was a Fisherman. The whole book of Malachi was addressing the priests as the tithe thieves. Malachi 3:10 “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it, is not referring to the Church or Temple. A storehouse is self explanatory, a place where things are stored, a warehouse. Malachi was addressing the Nation of Israel, not us and the blessings was regarding the abundance of water/rain, healthy soils, protection for crops and livestock from devouring insects ( The blessing was not about money ). Abram, gave a tithe out of the spoils of the war and not out of his wealth and the rest of the spoils of the war he gave away as it was a cultural custom of his time. Jacob, promised to give a tithe with conditions ( something in return ). There is nowhere written in the scriptures that Jacob, complied with his promised. At the cross, Jesus nailed any bondage from the law ( 613 Mosaic Law) and gave himself as a sacrificial Lamb to freed his people from their sin and 613 Mosaic Law. Jesus at the crucifixion by doing so, he also gave the entire world the gift of grace and free will. We are to give freely and cheerfully from the heart without expecting something in return. God does not need any money. He is the Almighty. People ( poor, widow, fatherless, homeless, needy, sick, and foreigners ) are in need of money and that is how you give to the Lord by helping those people. The Gospel changed everything about ceremonial law. Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law. The law is fulfilled in Christ. Christ is the end of the law.

I am only 9 minutes in, so granted, there's a lot more to go in this sermon. However, I was hit really hard by the teaching, " We are not only robbing from God by us not giving, but we are also robbing God in giving!" Yet a lot of us have the AUDACITY to ask God why ( myself included!)! Thank you, Father, for allowing me to see my sins and shortcomings, but above all, giving me your grace. Good viewpoint on tithing. I can’t seem to find anywhere in New Testament covenant on giving 10%. All I can find is be generous as we find in 2 Corinthians 9:6-14. Another interesting point, if we look at Old Testament and “giving to the temple”.. New Testament the body is now the temple of the Holy Spirit, so we should be giving and blessing fellow Christians as much as we can. In the same way God was generous and gave Jesus for us all, Christians are to also be generous towards unbelievers. Something bit etchy is at the end, saying that we ought to be generous and then putting out the “bucket” for money collection. This can be taken the wrong way and almost begging/forcing the congregation to give money… But overall, yes, Old Testament is rules and regulations. New Testament is a new heart, love and grace with Jesus being the example we are to follow. Interestingly, if tithing was super important, Jesus would be tithing. Doesn’t say that he was doing so in the New Testament…
You're on point about tithing. But as a minister of a church, you brought right back to robbing God of giving in turn can cause people still giving out of guilt. The part of sowing a seed by giving to the church may make the church going believer think that blessings will come only by giving to the church. Yes, there are church leaders who tell members that they'll be blessed more by the more they give to the church. There are plenty of people in need who receive nothing from churches but are encouraged to give to the church. I lost my primary job about 10 months ago and my family have been going through financial difficulties since December. I only work part time now and have so many part due major bills but there has been no charitable organization assisting us. I'm sure there are plenty people in our situation. Do churches even consider families like us. Sure, they claim to feed the hungry and homeless but they're not in the business of helping people who are trying not to be homeless. The church seems to be more about using the bible to collect money more than spreading the Gospels. As believers, we know that God will supply all of our needs. Some churches may preach this all while passing the collection plate counting money to pay their bills as some members go home to house with turned off water and lights due to being unpaid.
@@JohnCichy I watched the entire video. I was referring to the part about giving to the church. Some people are going through financial hardship and although would like to give more, can't. Also, there are some who would really like to give to those in need.
That's exactly why I said a person cheerfully giving $1 is the same as a person cheerfully giving $1000. It's a matter of the heart. I completely removed that burden (I even think I said something about not putting a burden on people in regards to giving). I did then say if you ONLY give $1 knowing that God has placed an amount more that you can give but withheld then you are robbing God in giving. I believe I am correct in saying this - especially considering the particular body I was preaching to. This message for that that specific body which, at the time, was not really a giving church but had the means to do so. Does that make sense, bro?
@@JohnCichy Although you did call out the deception of the tithing doctrine, you used the same style discussion about giving in the church that doesn't reflect a cheerful giver but one who feels obligated. The bottom line is money is necessary for things to function. Whether it's called tithing or giving, churches put a high priority on collecting money from their congregation. I think most people don't mind giving freely to the ministries out of the goodness of their hearts. They don't have to be manipulated with out of context bible verses. Give where the need is greatest for the kingdom of God and the gospel. This is what gives real joy and enthusiasm in giving. For where your treasure is,there your heart will be also. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer,is as true of the church worldwide as it is if the world-wealthy in the west, but 100s of millions in great need elsewhere both of physical and spiritual resources
Excellent sermon. I'm glad there are preachers out there who teach the truth about what the Bible says about tithing. It's true, it is right to give and to financially support your church but Christian's are not required to tithe. It's free will offerings. Even Jews today don't tithe because there are no Levites to give it to. Its very important for Christians to know what the Bible says and the context of what it is written in because of false teachers out there who abuse people. Well done to this pastor for his courage in speaking the truth.
It's free will offerings, but when everyone is stingy, they shouldn't whine that there is no food in the house, cause the pastors put their family first. I can't find a good church here. I don't blame the ones who refuse to pastor full time for nothing. It's irritating. With poor ppl it's great. These even give. But serving rich stingy ppl for free? What's the use? They don't want to serve God anyway. Let em go to a restaurant and not pay. Only give a one dollar tip when they feel like it. Hey the restaurant is gone. How amazing.

Great teaching on giving bro. I like how you referenced the OT vs NT scriptures; many times I've heard different arguments where people will use the OT to void out giving back to the bride of Christ (saying tithes only applied to the OT). What stood out to me during your teaching was your testimony in 21:50 when you shared about giving your time to Thursday nights when you would fellowship (I'm assuming is your mid week services or bible studies). I just don't understand why I should contribute to the salary of a pastor who makes twice what I do. I teach in the church. The Scripture actually says "let him that is taught in the Word communicate with him that teacheth in all good things." But are teachers ever given money? Of course not. The Word actually says "I would not that other men be eased and you burdened, but that rather there may be equality." And I simply don't see ANY church operating on that principle!
I was at a church where someone was thrown out for not tithing the pastor called him out from the pulpit the pastor said he was robbing God the pastor then had him thrown out of church, this happened during a Sunday service I ran out of that church never to return!

Amen! I was taught in a church to give the full 10% of my gross income. I even give more not because I was moved to give cheerfully but I gave for the sake of return of my investment by giving. I was taught that the 10% is juat a protection and plant seed aside from the percentage asked. I gave because i want something in return and i found myself very wrong because the attitude of my heart is relly not giving but receiving. And to be honest many were taught like this because they want something in return. There was also a time that i heard the preacher that the Lord will not accept the giving if it is not complete. I thought to myself that is it really that God will not accept? or the church. That the preacher was so very proud of saying "he may not be giving give amount on his tithe but he is the number one tither in the church." I always felt guilty because i dont think we are giving the exact amount or percentage thinking that it is not acceptable by God if it is incomplete as what was inserted into our hearts and being condemed that we are robbing God. Then i always felt guilty even i gave at the end of the day. Thank you for giving light to this.

One church I attended said that tithing wasn't even giving but that was required and you only started giving after you paid your tithe ,thankfully the Bible set me free from that bondage
This is a great message! Sorely needed! Only thing I would say in that mention of Luke 6:38 please read the CONTEXT of that verse. It’s OFTEN been misconstrued as giving money and that is NOT the context of that verse.

Why is it OK to ignore a teaching or rule that is now "taken out of context" from 2,400 years ago, but have to affirm the teaching to a church or set of churches 2,000 years ago? Didn't we just swap one rule for another rule, when neither were written for us specifically?
I kinda wondered that same thing. For example, even though Paul was preaching to the Corinthian church, post-Jesus’ resurrection, what is the difference between the Malachi verses and the Corinthian verses? Seems that both can be taken out of “context” to say either way. My other point is: when people hear the word or words “give” or “giving” in the Bible, it seems to automatically tied to money. Same with tithing. And who’s fault is that?...the corrupt manipulative “pastors” out for financial gain. Give what you can, whether time, talents or abilities that helps others, money (when appropriate), encouraging words, etc. giving is not defined in the Bible, therefore we should stop trying to force a definition of it being money. I don’t want to come off sounding like someone who just “loves their money and wants to keep it”, I want to be someone who isn’t manipulated by liars and gives where, what and how God would have me to give. 👍🏻👍🏻
A pastor who knows his Bible well and understand verse or verses in its context. So many unsound teachings arise from bible verse or verses taken out of context.
Interesting and revealing is that tithing is the ONE part that most of the body keeps from the First Testament. Hmmmm! We, the Jewish people, call giving is TZEDAKAH. The tithe 10% is that ONE tradition is the Church still remains extant.....other parts have been "done away".
As the Almighty Creator commanded all of His prophets that 10% of our net income or "Tithing" or "Cleansing Charity" is not ours because it is polluted. That is why we must give it in the cause of the Almighty to: Parents- Relatives- Fatherless children- Needy people- Aliens- The Beggars- Homeless people, who are living on soil or dust- Those who ask for help- Also, near Neighbor, who is a relative- The neighbor who is farther away- Friend who is near you- Debtors. But, those wicked preachers and rabbis changed those verses in those Scriptures and say, "Pay your 10% charities to those Churches and Synagogues" so they could get rich every day. Rejecting this very important Law of our Creator results Disasters through our life. Like lack of health, accidents, losing money, property damages and so on. And please tell me what version of the bible were you reading because you said that after they stored something to give, God may prosper them... Are you referencing Malachi 3:10? If so, please keep in mind that The Lord was rebuking the priests for not obeying him, not Christians. Please don't practice replacement theology. Doing so, will mislead you. Please read Malachi in it's historical context not a pretext as being taught by unscrupulous televangelists.
In 70 AD General Titus of Rome destroyed the Temple in Jerusalem ending the provision for tithing. Malachi was written in 500 BC, then 570 later the Temple was burned ending the provision for tithing. Since 70 AD all Jewish synagogues charge a fee for membership rather than tithing which is unlawful without the Temple in Jerusalem. NOTE, Even before the Temple was destroyed only Jews living in Jerusalem were required to tithe. Day workers and poor Jews were not required to tithe.🕎

Christians actually help the poor? I'm not holding my breath (or I'd be dead real soon). I'm a (miraculous) double TBI survivor living on poverty level SS disability alone with no family, in constant pain, with ME/CFS (commonly known as chronic fatigue syndrome but that name in no way indicates how bad it is). No one reading this will have any idea how hard my life is. I have many legitimate needs I can't financially pursue, including pursuing medical things that might literally make my life less painful and more tolerable. But then any church I know of, instead of wanting to help me with anything more than a few simple basics like maybe toilet paper, will weekly try and guilt me into thinking I somehow should soon wind up kicked out of my mobile home to go Lord knows where because of giving 10% I don't have to them. And of course no one else will help individuals because that doesn't count toward their 10%, so in effect it doesn't count. In addition to your church, when you can help real people who have needs! It's absolutely Biblical, and It absolutely counts in God's sight!
@@JohnCichy It's hard to find a church without major flaws (spiritually dead, progressive, egalitarian, cessationist, hypercharismatic, woke, etc.). My energies are highly limited. If I knew of a better church I'd be going there. I did confront the missions pastor last summer and he said he doctrinally agreed with me, but it didn't bother him like it did me because the male founding pastor said God told he and his wife to tithe -- then he quickly, insistently and desperately changed the subject. Tithing was only for the biblical nation of Israel who were under the Mosaic law covenant. Christians are not obligated, or commanded to tithe. From my perspective as an outsider, I would’ve done the opposite. 1) I would’ve taken the offering first. 2) Then the message. 3) Then said if anyone feels compelled to give further you can do so after the service, there no judgement or manipulation. It’s between you and God and what He may have laid on your heart. 4) And then left the congregation with no one monitoring any giving. Can you please explain why you did it the way you did? It kind of comes across as “begging the congregation for more money for the offering” by basically saying be generous and then putting the pot out for the offering. Is the church going through financial difficulty?
Short answer - this is the way I believe God led me to do it. When learning anything - do you do it first and then listen. Or listen first and then do it. You must first listen and learn before you do. The Church (many of who weren't giving at all) needed to first learn this teaching before being presented that opportunity to properly worship God through tithes and offerings.
False teaching. Tithing was established with Abel & Cain. Genesis 4:3-7; Hebrews 11:4. Abraham paid tithes 10th of the spoils/his profit/his increase to Melchisedec before the law was given to Moses & Israel. Hebrews 7:1-4; Genesis 14:28--. Levi paid tithes in Abraham before the law was given to Moses. Hebrews 7:9-10. Jacob tithe paying re-established before the law to Moses. How did Jacob know about the 10% tithe? Passed down from Abraham. Genesis 28:20-22. If the preachers would read the book of Hebrews they would understand that 10% tithe of all your increase is required today or you are in fact robbing God in tithe (& offering if not giving offering also). Jesus is called to be our High Priest after the order of Melchisidec (before the law) and not after the order of Aaron (after the law--key point!) Hebrews 7:11; Hebrews 3:1; Hebrews 5:6, 10; Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even JESUS, MADE AN HIGH PRIEST FOREVER AFTER THE ORDER OF MELCHISEDEC (Not after the law given to Moses) Hebrews 6:20 Get it now? Read Hebrews 7:12, 15, 17, 21, 24. Therefore Malachi 3:8-11 regarding 10% tithe requirement still stands. You pay God 1st from your gross pay not net. My son gave me $600 for my birthday. I paid my tithe of $60.
