One 23 year old USC BA in Theater, wrote, starred in, directed, produced, scored, composed the music and worked with other young actors and filmmakers to make a subtle, film noir movie that was inspired by history in the Soviet Union (not a documentary - a dramatic piece of historical fiction). The budget was about $2500 and the film had to be shot with 1 camera, and poor sound equipment within a 10 day window. Keep that in mind when you view and comment on this incredible achievement.

Very enjoyable. This from a guy who can not watch a full movie about anything lately-several years- I was held by the story and dialogue as well as the actors themselves. Well done. Something about a limited budget brings out the finest performances from the whole crew. It is its own art form to me

As it says early on, this film is based on historical events, but of course liberties were most definitely taken for the sake of the storytelling and production. We are incredibly happy with this film’s performances, script, and cinematography, and are extremely appreciative those are all elements you enjoyed as well!

Good effort, it truly puts good acting/script/direction/casting etc into very clear perspective. I think they may have come closer to the mark if they hadn't tried to punch so high above thier weight. This kind of piece needs much much deeper/better character development - think lechter and clarice or bridge of spys.

A dark thriller! The deep dive into the evil mind of Serov is displayed in breathtaking detail. Incredible that the entire film was produced, directed, written, scored, and led by the same person.

Very good fictionalization about the real figure, if low budget. The creators did their research if you read the notes. The music is great

Serov would have been in his mid-40s when the film is set. The actor is barely 20. Serov was never arrested by the west. Had he been it would not have been by a patrol with a white and black solider. There was no integration at the time. Had there been a black solder he would have had very close cropped hair, not the near-afro that this actor has. The CIA was created in late 1947. The actors refer to the CIA but the film is supposedly set in 1947, in summer based on the vegeation. The CIA did not yet exist.

Award winning ??? More like a film student's Grad piece. No budget - actors way too young for most roles. Not bad for what it is. Why not be honest in the description.

Good story and filming, but I got a little tired of the enclosed scenery. Could have separated the scenes with a few photos of the countryside around. It would not have cost any more than this low budget filming.

the lead actors look like teenagers...the acting is vey affected...lacks the transformation of acting. comes off as a high school film project. BUT interesting story.

I resisted 12 minutes before giving up. The main character is so irritating. I guess it is a combination of script and acting. I browsed through the reminder of the film to see if there seemed to be any action, outdoor scenes or similar. But it seems that the whole film is like an amateur low budget theater. Not my taste, moving on.

Too bad they could not get funding to produce this film. From the start, vinyl breifcase with wheels, no uniforms - I did not get five minutes into it. Not the coolest movie ever, not even a good movie.

the cinematography is irritating moving in and out of focus and wandering away from the protaginists for no reason at all. The acting is not nuanced in any way and the direction is less than convincing in telling the story .
