This video is to show you how to change a Serpentine Belt and Belt Tensioner assembly on a 2003 S-10. It should be similar to most years of this body style S10 with the 2.2 liter 4 cylinder.

You make incredibly well thought out and clear videos. I just bought a 2002 S10 and your videos have been extremely helpful!

Nice video, helped me figure out how to get the belt replaced and where the tensioner was. My belt looks like its stock from 99 with 110k miles on it lol. Its time for a change.

Hmmmm pretty interesting. I’m working on an s10 2002 at the moment have had it for two years. It’s had minor problems at the moment just recently had an issue with the serpentine belt coming loose and getting caught in the fan. No idea if it has to do with an old busted up tensioner or just the belt being too loose. this video helps a lot more than others!

I’m glad to help, tensioner is spring loaded so unless it was the wrong belt then probably the tensioner as these are known to fail. I have had it one time where a pulley froze on an alternator and threw the belt

Hey man I’m not being an ass here but I changed the tensioner on my sons S10 yesterday and I just pulled the front end up on ramps and went under it on a creeper and it right there above the sway bar, I needed a long breaker bar and a ratchet and had it done in like 10 minutes and I was very gentle with the belt so it stayed pretty much in place so I didn’t have to try and figure out that puzzle, hope this saves you some time

I get it, I just like doing it this way because it gives me more room to work. Thanks for the perspective tho!

The easiest way is to go from underneath the truck I didn't have to remove any of that and took me about 15 minutes to complete

Alright for anyone doing this in the future: there will be a resonance "canister" on the passenger side attached to the intake. You'll have to remove it to get the intake tube out. His is already gone and capped off or maybe that hole is just wide open. You can see the connection at 0:53 where that hose clamp is. Then take out the fan shroud and continue with the job. When putting it back together, remove the resonance thing from the car and attach it to the intake, then set the fan shroud in the car loose, move the shroud towards the driver side to make a little space, then put the intake with the resonance canister attached into place. Now you can arrange everything into it's right place and attach the hardware (minus one of the bolts on the fan shroud). Alternatively I think you would have to remove the upper radiator hose to do this job.
