We used to play at Balboa every time we visited San Diego, but I don't wanna support a club that has this lady running it. This is amazing promotion for the facility and a lot of fun and creates a lot of interest in tennis. She should be thanking you guys. Does anyone know of another facility in San Diego that my wife and I can play at when we are visiting?
That lady is exactly why private clubs are folding like a cheap card table. In the 80s it was worse believe it or not, but I am sure after this video the club will change its stance on letting people have fun. Maybe 🤔 great job on the video my friend.
I agree entirely about the ADV bags, I had the first version 5 years ago, and now they have released the second version, which is even better. Highly recommended.
you should redo this in austin again, the Austin Tennis Center is a great community and place, and the people who run it won’t chase you off the court for filming (i know this for a fact because i grew up going there and worked there for a summer) it would be a great experience and would also give exposure to them as they help nonprofits in Austin
Bring the challenge to Charleston, SC (Mt. Pleasant)! We’ve got several 3.5’s and at least one 3.0 who can hit 100mph on radar. Definitely not me though. Inspired by Darren’s last serve. Great mechanics!
What did you use to measure serve speed? Keep up the good work, been following you since the start (talking about the video where that kid taught you backhand lol)
I suggest you try to record the speeds from directly off the racket by standing behind the player (thats how its done in the pros) recording from the opposite base line often results in losing 10+ miles per hour from what the read speed of the ball is. A professional serve at 130mph would probably read around 115 from where you were standing on most of those serves. Ive been clocked at 120 and i find it hard to get over 100 on some of those radars.
10:01 the racket he’s holding goes for about $19.99 at Walmart. Bought one for a video I made and it bent after hitting a good players forehand back. Quality stick
Can’t believe that woman! It was that exact reason I left my old club, get with the times people! Utter joke, gives the sport a bad name, but for that reason alone I’ll give you a follow, great video 😂
How does karue record the matches, swing stick? phone? does he have to ask the other player if they let him record? If i do it at my junior tournaments, will officials or players make me take it down?
It's a Pocket Radar Ball Coach or Smart Coach. $300 for the Ball Coach, $400 for the Smart Coach. I recommend the Smart Coach because it has a decent app that works with a smart phone.
I've actually tested two Pocket Radars simultaneously. It's more accurate the more it's in line with the serve trajectory. I think you'll get better reads setting it up on a tripod right below the net, and pointing it up towards where the server makes contact, like I did in this this video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-llGC716rV3s.html Amazing progress on your serve. I'm also curious, what's your fastest serve Trey? My fastest serve in is 106 mph, but your serves looks like it is at least 5 to 10 mph faster than mine.
@@Winners-Only Yeah, same here. I only try to hit hard serves once every 2 or 3 months. Most of the time, I just work on improving my serve technique. Still not happy with it but getting closer.
I was once also told to stop filming on a public tennis court. Reason: because the tennis courts are a "gated community". Which was hilarious because he was referring to the fences around the courts... in any case, these people rarely budge, so the almost only way out is to not use that "community" anymore.
Its a place of public accommodation. You can film there if you want. There is no reasonable expectation of privacy. Just saying "private" business, club etc doesn't mean anything lol
“Yeah I love it here I want to move here” immediately sees why people are fleeing California like the plague with people like that lady around. Doubt that would happen in Austin
I'm old now, and only 5'6" and 145lbs, but when I was 20, I could slam 112 with a wood racquet. With today's racquets, I'm surprised that so few could hit 100mph. Maybe it's because they focus so much on their topspin serve, they don't know how to hit a proper flat one?
I did not join Balboa explicitly because the Director and many people at the club are like this. I get court time is a privilege and comes with a cost in big cities w limited courts but people like her are not helping our sport...
The old lady's life was and is so pathetic she had to prevent others from enjoying it. At the same time, maybe she has a stupid owner or group of (a board) looking over her shoulder telling her to do their dirty work. Maybe she is afraid of losing her cushy job & salary (survival, pethaps).
