@@talesara74 looks right to me, although I find pronation hard myself. See 5:30. If the racket goes up on edge it's pretty hard to get the face of the racket around without pronation

When I saw a new video from this channel I immediately stopped doing whatever I was doing just to watch it. I was really hoping you' d come back. I'm one of those people who try to learn tennis on youtube and I really find your videos very resourceful and I like how you explain the techniques in such detailed manner and yet very easy to follow as well. Funny thing is that I was looking for ways to improve my ground strokes and service motion and guess who showed up with exactly what I needed to hear?! Now my tennis will start improving again!! I'm glad you're back!

Nice to see Coach Steven back! In a drunken tirade, I told my tennis friends that their tennis serves should have the "Pete Samparas finish"! IMO, Samparas had the most efficient tennis serve swing ever! Cheers!😅

There's not only forearm pronation, but also internal shoulder rotation on all top level servers.

Way to simplify things on the serve. So many out there complicating it. If you isolate the throwing motion and the dart imagery is spot on…like Macci says..imagine throwing a dart at the ceiling!

Actually this is what I do or least try to do on my serve. The rotation on the elbow helps bring the ball down. It's like adding topspin to the serve. I do think it slows the ball down slightly because you are adding more topspin to the ball. BTW, I noticed that you have changed your serve quite a bit since your last series of serve videos. You are now using a very narrow platform stance like what Monfils use to do. And it looks like you have more arch on your back during your forward swing, that reverse C. I do like your toss. It's much more improved. Looks smooth and controlled. And you fully extend up. Good lesson.

thank you for that demo at the end. This is something that hits home with me because my first serve is consistently going long and I think I need to do more of the snap or pronation. at the end. All my other fundamentals are correct ( toss, head up, knee bend, raquet drop etc)

For me there are two main differences in Tennis Serve and Dartsthrow: First, in Tennis you don,t fix your target but the ball (in your mind, you fix the target area and the ball flight). Seconds, in Darts it's a linear movement, in Tennis, it's a circular movement. So I think you should pay intention not to produce a false immidge of the whole movement. What donyou think about this? Sorry for my German English🙋‍♂️

I like a lot of what you're saying except for posture at contact. Pete had a noticeable tilt at contact. I think this allowed for some internal shoulder rotation. Have noticed recently (especially on WTA) for players to be very upright at contact as you suggest.🤔

hi coach, your serve could be even better if you add a little bit of forward momentum, you start your serve already from stationary pinpoint position, i think better would be getting there with feet apart and then move to pinpoint stance, that would add to forward momentum and then it may help you to land into the court, no player lands behind the baseline, even roger lands a little bit in front, but less than other players, and finally when you are serving you have correct motion but when you are showing it you do it wrong even if you dont realize it, in your actual serve you never come to scratch the back position and thats correct, your hand should never come close to your neck, i like your videos because its clear that you think about all the techniques, so all the best

Now take that dart motion and instead of moving your hand towards the service box toss the dart at the ceiling.👍 Or Imagine accelerating to contact and letting go of the racquet so it flips end over end and sticks into the ceiling.😮

Be careful of shoulder impingement injuries. Especially older players that lack mobility and flexibility in the rotator cuff muscles.

Hi Steven, reminds me of Kyrgios who serves bombs but has a short follow thru. Would you say that your serves have similar concepts in that regard?

My serve is proficient at a fair amount of concepts but far from mastery. I try to do it but at a much lower level.

I find it fascinating that your feet almost in line. It’s like your skipping the pin point and getting right to the goods. I’m going to experiment.

Coach Steve, you're a great coach. But Sampras never reaches a "backscratch" position nor do the vast majority of pro players. Also, the "Sampras" finish with the bicep pull is just a stylistic choice that happens after contact. It is more a style for deceleration than it is a part of the stroke

I do agree that "isolating" the tricep helps a lot with aim. It's just that in a full motion, the actual tricep extension occurs almost. naturally once the elbow is pointed up from sheer momentum.

Your feet are way too close together on the serve, which prevents you from having a proper weight transfer. Your serve could be better, but your technique is very flawed. That’s why I know professional has a circumstance like yours… you can’t teach that
