If you have a 2010 ford fusion hybrid and the wrench keeps popping on after driving for long distances or if you hit the gas too hard an check engine code for stuck or closed throttle just buy a new throttle body don’t waste your time trying to clean it, it’s the black plastic part on the side that goes bad, it was only 180 something at advanced auto for a brand new one, now I had a axel nut fall off an abs, advanced track and no power steering all started and I’m scared it’s the rack and pinion needing replaced but after seeing this I’m hoping it’s just that sensor
Thanks for your advice - I tightened the black cable to the battery bc the trac service light came on - if I took it to the Ford service shop they will have probably mentioned something else to charge crazy dollars -
Thank you for this video. My husband had this trouble in his f150 and when he was at the end of everything he knew to try I showed him this video. He went out the next day and tried this on his truck and it fixed it. So we would like to sincerely thank you it saved alot of time and money and in this day and time people don't seem to have enough of either.
I got a 12 Fusion and it's doing this. I texted my Dad and told him I needed a wrench and a pair of strippers to fix my car. He misunderstood what I meant when I said strippers...
I have that problem intermittently with the advanced track not the steering, always when I’m driving. Looked it one time and it said it was something in the ABS system. Killing the ignition and restarting it has always fixed it. Never hurt performance. I have seen that sometimes the advance track can kick the car into limp mode. On the plus side when that happens, your in control of the car like you should be, no electronics to decide you can’t drive 😆.
2018 Explorer. I just had this issue, service "advancedtrac", and "terrain management system fault" on my wifes vehicle. Not the exact same issue as yours, but related. Couldn't switch the smart terrain management nob. It was stuck in normal, and popping those errors when she turned the knob. It was the negative battery terminal. Cleaned the corrosion, and it works just fine.
@@mariahbaldeagle5391 I currently have the same issue. Did you ever find the solution (did it happen again)? For me I go through the settings and I can manually turn on some features and it goes away. then like 5m later it re-appears.
I have a 2010 fusion.... It all started with the tpms sensors light was on....I had a bad tire in the back so I bought 2 new tires, had them put on the front and the 2 decent tires on the back.... Also I had all 4 sensors replaced.... The sensors programmed fine but when I got into the car, I had no power steering. The guys at the shop only do tires and had no clue why the steering got hard. It's all got to do with these dam tire sensors. Maybe the wheel speed sensors .. I'm at my wits end with these crappy ford's. Wth
I have a 2014 Ford Fusion and this comes up with uphill assist not available or something. It only happens when I turn and brake and it starts vibrating like the car is sliding or something. Also while these errors come up my steering wheel is a harder to turn and then after driving about 30 seconds after the turn the lights go away and everything is back to normal.
It could be different causes based on the symptoms but this is what I see on fusions 2013-2016 If these symptoms appear : -Airbag light -ABS light -ESC service required -Hill assist off -Park assist off (For Some people) -Problem with rear camera (some people) -heavy steering wheel sometimes it happens when u turn left or right The most common reasons are : 1- broken wheel speed sensor, it is found behind each wheel. Usually caused by one of the front wheels especially if it happens after turning right or left 2- corrosion in the wires that goes from the Speed wheel sensor to the computer 3- wake battery or bad condition, First make sure u disconnect the terminals and clean them and check if the battery is good. If all good and the symptoms appeared again then check the sensor and the wires There are other possibilities but these are the most common ones
I took a screenshot of your video, and you can see the blown fusible link. But you certainly pointed me in the right direction! Now I just need to know what that part is called, or the part #.
I have a 2012 Mustang and mine came with 2 fuse terminal on the positive side. I accidentally touched the positive cable and the engine block with a wrench blew the fuse. Thus triggering this error.
I have. 17 Explorer and at the gas station I did a quick U-turn from one pump to another and those lights came on power steering left me. I did let it sit for some hours before going out to check the battery area and I didn’t check to see if it reset itself but a cable going to the fuse box is loose a finger tighten it and all is well….so I’m giving you the kudos….thanks for posting this. Looked everywhere online and people were coming up with some other scenarios that didn’t make sense….appreciate it
@bubba blue Hey the fuse-link off the battery terminal is blown and that wire was installed probably by the previous owner as jerry-rig. The orange wire is not oem and may be causing all the corrosion due to dissimilar metals too. I think the replacement part is about 40$
Same thing happened to me today. Blew the 100a fuse on the terminal harness. My fault, wrench touched it. I just ordered it overnight for around 40$ from Oreilys. Hopefully I didnt cause any other damage. Ill swing back around to this vid if it fixed it.
I have a 2014 Ford F150 3.7 lte. My advance trac light is on but i still have power steering. I let my truck sit for awhile and then the light came on for not starting truck. Any help out there??
Got a 2011 Fusion. Car randomly had a service advancetrac and service power steering notice come on. Got a used rack and put it in and the service power steering went away but the service advancetrac is still on & no power steering. I used Forscan to check the steering and it stays stuck at -4.95 no matter where I turn the wheel. Aside from the notice and no power steering the car drives fine. Every now and then I hear a ticking sound when the auto lights are on in the daytime but not sure if that issue has anything to do with this issue.
Same with my ecoboost same year it happens sometime, but it’s just the wrench light that pops up now and I don’t know what it is, lmk it you figured it out
@bubba blue I have a 2016 Mustang, The ABS light , and both those lights you displayed on your picture are on and on the dash it says “Service advance trac” so is this something that I need to take into the dealer for?
@@slerrs turned out to be my wheel hub needed to be replaced. Something to do with a sensor and shit. Replaced for about 500 and everything working fine now.
Do you know what that wire is called or where it routes to cause I have the same issue of no power steering and I don’t see the wire at all around the fuse
This happened on my Ford fusion but the car started, i also got the hill start assist light on as well but as soon as I got like halfway through this video it went away so you got some sort of magic in this video
I currently have the same issue. Did you ever find the solution (did it happen again)? For me I go through the settings and I can manually turn on some features and it goes away. then like 5m later it re-appears. I am okay with it, but the power steering cuts and it is my wife's car. I would rather not have her driving something where the power steering suddenly just "nopes" out of operation lol
I have a 2016 ford fusion where the advance track and abs light comes on and off. Especially with turning to the left. I'm hearing a squealing noise coming from my right front tire. Is it possible a bad wheel bearing could turn these lights on?
@@BubbaBlueTube no hard steering, if anything I got a good amount of play in my steering. I'm still leaning towards wheel bearing or caliper sticking. The noise is a cycling squeal, almost metal on metal type sound. My brakes seem to work fine and no grinding with braking. But I have heard that a bad wheel bearing can cause abs and advance track not to work and sadly they aren't working. But thanks so much for your opinion. I'm hoping it's something not too expensive.
@@BubbaBlueTube oh and no vibration in steering or difficulty steering or leaking fluids. Since this is a low riding vehicle and I live in Pittsburgh, many o' potholes have found me. Lol
Same thing happened to me i got a 2016 mustang , and this is the first time that happen , I just moved the negative on the battery and clean it and put it back in and it worked good !
@@BubbaBlueTube sadly it came back on, I did the battery again and still hasn't gotten away and my steering wheel is hard , I even disconnect the battery for 30min and still nothing. Now im stuck , what can it be?
@@etum_bryan9055 nope never did , some people told me it was the rack and pinion but not sure it keeped happening again , I try the battery again and that didn’t do the trick , I even left it overnight without trying and the car just would not move , steering wheel was hard and wouldn’t move
Just happened to me, was my mistake. I touched my wrench to that 100a wire that you pointed out and it blew that fuse that hangs off the positive terminal. Loss of power steering, and service advanctrac. Always disconnect your battery.
