Service Air handler in attic 

Not sure why the installer put this air handler in the attic like this. Did he think this would be practical for service or repairs? How do they expect the homeowner to change his filter while climbing on top of ductwork and crushing the return flex. I had a hard time servicing the unit. Can you imagine when it comes time to replace?
