Impressed again Ryan. I really appreciate your business model by taking all the efforts and responsibilities by offering your customers top quality service on every area needed. So when are you going to franchise E39Source to Sweden :)
The trunk floor clip got me thinking a little bit, and it might be worthwhile to eventually invest in a 3D printing system and a library of parts as these small trim pieces come out of circulation. It would allow you to continue to provide like factory replacements for broken trim pieces. Doesn't meet your mantra, but for cars like the E39, it may soon become necessary.
While I don’t disagree, 3D printing is expensive and time-consuming. As a novice, designing and printing 8 ~2cm” cubes with intricate designs to act as fridge shelf supports took me about 3 hours to design, an hour to print a test, and another 6 hours to print.
@computiNATEor I actually agree. I'm more thinking long term preservation it may be a good investment. Right now while parts are still available it is preferable for factory parts, but eventually even parts cars will dry up and being able to reproduce these parts with a tuned setup in 10 years when parts are all but gone will be a huge seller. It doesn't have to be a straight to full scale, instead maybe a single printer operation as a test bed and run a part or two a week at best after you get calibrated just to try it.
The refinish looks close, if not exact to factory in your video. It’s clear you and your providers mastered the e39 m5 finish so not surprised these 359’s came out great too. Do you share the name of the refinisher? Or care to offer refinishing service through you, by way of a sublet to them? My 359’s are in need.
