Head to our website for the step-by-step, written instructions - www.oneupcompo...
This service should take about 20 minutes and should be completed when your bearings start to feel rough and/or develop any play in them.
Users are encouraged to perform regular maintenance earlier if required. If something seems rough or unusual after servicing please stop, disassemble the post, and double check your work. If nothing stands out please contact info@oneupcomponents.com to avoid additional damage to the post.
Tools Needed
-OneUp hub drift kit or standard drift kit with 6902 drifts.
-Mallet
-Waterproof Grease (PL-1000 or better)
-Freehub grease (supplied with hub)
-Lint free cloths
-25 Torx key
-Cassette tool w/o axle guide
-Vice
Please note: If you do not have access to a vice, you still can complete this service. Just note that both hammering out & pressing in the bearings will be less controlled without the vice.

Wow that is the most simple rear hub rebuild, and I don't have bearing press tool going old school.

I ordered mine within the first hour of the announcement, My Reds arrive Friday. I’ll have them build with DT Swiss EX511 early next week and installed on my Levo shortly after. Looking forward to seeing what they can handle, My I9 have been outstanding, never an issue.

Is it possible to use a press instead of hammering away at the bearings like a caveman?
@oneupcomponents_official
@oneupcomponents_official 2 месяца назад
haha yeah of course - not everyone has a bearing press so we wanted to demonstrate that even a caveman could do the service with a hammer ;)

What’s the rubber o ring for that came with the free hub body?

is there machining inside the hub shell to ensure that the drive side bearing goes straight and does not marr the non drive side opening? i am assuming that the middle part or the shell is wider since it appears that way in the video

Full rebuilt is when freehub bearings are replaced too. I can't find what bearings are inside freehub anywhere on the site. Please include this information.

We consider the Rear Hub and the Freehub to be separate

It would help to not cross thread the lock ring if you use a socket type of lock ring tool instead of one with the bar built in...just a thought

You'll have to try it out and let us know how it goes.

Give us a center lock version and i would gladly grab a set. It happens all the time, companies make an almost perfect product and then choose something stupid. You guy’s are a big enough company to make both 6 bolt and center lock…c’mon meow.

Extra marks for the Super Troopers reference, but I'd choose 6 bolt over center lock every time because I hate the way play appears between the disk and the centerlock spline, which causes the lockring to unscrew over time, if your riding loads the brakes in both directions.

I can already see 2.0 version of these hubs coming, because the servicing is way to difficult. That lockring is going to be a pain in the neck to re-install.

agreed, and don't get me started with the need of another hub tools set for the shop.

Full rebuild in 8 mins is pretty good we thought, but you're right, there is always room for improvement.

@@albertocastillo4572I thought a 6902 drift was fairly common in hub press kits?

The process looks a little easier than any other hub I've seen - specifically because both hub body bearings load from the non drive side, so there's no need for highly specific tools to reach over the installed axle to press in the drive side bearing. Whether service time matters at all depends on the bearing life though - which mostly depends on the bearing seals, which seem okay based on the description given anyway,,the amount of flex in the hub under load, the tolerances for the bearing seats and the bearing quality. If this service is needed once every 5-10 years, it's no big deal. If it has to be done every year or more often it would be an unacceptable waste of my time and money (My car has yet to wear out a single bearing in 13 years). My benchmark would be the Hope Pro2 front hub that's been running smoothly for over 20 years on various bikes of mine with no servicing at all in that time (The rear hub died after a couple of years though - and it wasn't a bearing problem) or the 2 sets of Pro4s I've run for a few years and over 10 000 km of off hard road use in almost always muddy, wet conditions, with one bearing change in one of the rear hubs so far and nothing else.

Dont you need to actually have hubs in stock to market them 😁 I went looking and they all sold out already? Looking forward to building a new wheelset. Been on the burner for months... Not anymore!!

We didn't expect to sell out of them the first day! We have more coming very soon.
