They definitely have the brake and suspension fluids. Dealer prep for Yamaha bikes in the USA is removing the packing material, connecting the battery, and putting the mirrors on.

Hi there. I also live in Japan. I bought a Triumph Sprint ST brand new from a Triumph dealer here, who went bankrupt without any warning a few years back. Unfortunately the Triumph dealer network in Japan leaves a lot to be desired. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I have a friend who test rode a street triple rs at the Kohoku dealership last week. I will warn him.

@@ガイジンライダー I got mine in Kanagawa. If you bike has a rs pillion seat instead of the plain stock seat it's almost definitely my old bike and I encorage you not to take delivery. That would mean they are lying about its ownership history. I have been in contact with a large group that have had "issues" that I can't legally disclose specifics. If it is my old bike be very concerned, otherwise most people have a good experience. But take full advantage of the warranty if needed, and if they are being "wierd" get a second opinion.

That really stinks man, like you I went with the triple because I owned a tiger. I have the RS and have experienced a few of the issues you did, engine shutting off, bad gear changes, and fluid burn - was told it was due to the break in period. Now at 3k miles and still get some loose gears, but the other stuff has passed. Grats on the yamaha, glad your dealer is now looking out for you the way they should.

@@milesdavis8665 Triumps are great with long service intervals! I had no major issues with reliability over the 19000 miles and 3 years and always serviced it at the local shop - Triumph of Westchester here in NY. The workmanship can be a pretty penny, but ive heard some of the fittings can be a little specialized so it doesn't hurt to make sure its a triumph mechanic. I did drop it on a trip to the desert once and the replacement fairing had to be shipped from UK but easy enough to put on myself. Great bike would buy again but wanted to go more towards sport touring.

IM 60 I've owned a lot of motercycles and scooters.My worst experience with a new bike was an 2008 KLR I bought from a dealership in Cocoa FL Within the first 6 months and 3000 miles it had an oil leak out of the shifter shaft seal the dealership replaced a bad seal.Then the turn single stalks one by one started braking off. The dealership would not replace them under warranty then the mirrors started getting spiderwebs in the glass it took some bitching but eventually they replaced the mirrors.Then at 2500 miles I started getting a rattling chain type noise from the engine the dealer said they could not find any issues it was normal sounds.I tightened the cam chain per the book but the chain noise got worse I called Kawasaki of America they said if the dealer says there is nothing wrong we can't help you.I pulled the cover off and the chain tensioner spring was broken chain was just flopping over the gears.I replaced the spring put new tires on the bike and sold it.3 months later I got a notice in the mail saying there was a recall on the turn single stalks and they will be replaced under warranty. That was the last Kawasaki I ever bought

Before my experiment with triumph I was in love with it and the brand. I'm 28 so they just lost 30-50 years of my business (with an optimistic view of my riding life expectancy) I can't believe how brand stand by shady dealers. But yamaha is happy to survice my bike under warranty when I didn't even know anything was wrong. So is life. Hope you are riding something that gets you there and back again with a smile.

The dealer caught the problem for your before it was serious. Had it been the opposite and your bike needed costly repair. You’d have a high chance of getting a similar treatment as you did from triumph, in my experience. The dealers WANT you to get frustrated in those cases and go to Corporate Yamaha/triumph so the dealer doesn’t have to pay for it. It’s sad and short sighted. Having said that I agree that the Japanese brands have a much better track record over all, at this stage in my life though, I am willing to deal with that for the joy of more hooped up motors and bikes from euro manufacturers

@@Fee.1 if you are in the usa you never did or will get the 660s. It's for japan eu and commonwealth (excluding canada). Beginner bikes in many of these country must have 660cc or less by law or its not beginner. Australia gas a 667 mt07 . The trident was then made by a modified street triple 660s
@Fee.1
@Fee.1 3 года назад
@@KairyuRider oh sure enough, they apparently didn’t like making a motor just for selling the Australian and A2 street triples and switched all the Street Triple S’s to the 660 for ghe 2020 model year that explains more why the S model is gone here. Weird. That’s even more depressing. The trident would be a cracking bike if they’d have just given it the same motor from the 660 street triple, which already must have been a bit dead at the top end compared to the RS, seems unnecessary to take it down another notch. Sigh. That’s boring. Triples are great for having nearly the torque of a twin down low but the closer to the revs of inline 4, that’s where the trident missed the mark for me. Especially given that it’s a bike with modes, no justification for nerfing the throttle when you could have just added a expert/race mode or whatever. Anyway, thanks for the heads up, hadn’t realized that.

You should have taken the triumph to a independent dealer for diagnosis. Then you’d have known the truth and could also go check to see if they actually fixed it or not. If they really are defrauding people you could blow the lid off that situation. It’s crucial people never forget that you must seperate the manufacturer from the dealer experience. It’s frustrating and shouldn’t be that way, but it’s true.

@@KairyuRider yea that’s not cool at all, thanks I’ll check it out. That’s what makes me so scared to own a Ducati or Mv Agusta but I feel like it’s something everyone has to do once in life, but ari Henning told me triumph is like dealing with a Japanese brand in the US especially compared to anything Italian or even KTM, Which I guess says more about how bad those brands are than how good triumph is. Yea Yamaha is famous for driveline lash. My r3 engine grenaded itself within a year. Had metal shavings all within the oil. Nightmare. Wish my warranty issues were dealt with like yours. Yamaha tried to find every excuse to not take care of it and blame me for it despite me telling them something seemed off every time I took them in. I think it was something like you dealt with. It was the dealers fault and Yamaha didn’t want to deal with problems caused by the dealer. I had to start legal proceedings just to get a phone call back from anyone at Yamaha with the power to help me

Well this is how triumph uk handled things. And I’ve had plenty of epithet in comments in a similar fix. Most triumphs are great, but when trouble occurs it seems everyone fights them to get things fixed unless your engine literally explodes. Which I found happened to 2 people with my bikes issues.

There are ofcourse the rare exceptions the Supersport 1000cc and the gold wing. But... Then again get the cheap japanese and use the savings to personalize it I guess😅 I always have

Well I do know that western corporate culture is very profit driven and honor and brand name isn't as seriously taken as in Japan. I had a pleasure of owning 4 bikes so far 3 European BMW R1100S from 1999,Triumph Daytona 955i from 2006 and my current bike Moto Guzzi California Audace 1400 from 2016 and one Japanese Suzuki GSXR1000K4. All my bikes were second hand only the Guzzi was bought at a dialer as used and approved with 1200miles on the clock. And all of my bikes were reliable but I do look asfter them regular maintenance is key to happy motorcycle ownership!! Oil filter change once a year or every 6-7k miles.I do them myself big jobs like Valves are done by a specialist but not a factory dealer. Why cause I don't think dealers care enough about reputation. They know that new bikes will be on warranty and to keep it you have to use them so the quality of their service is pour! No you go to an independent specialist they know a bad reputation will be a killer for their business. I had a bad experience with a dealer with my GSXR1000K4 I took it for an MOT(road worthy test) and I had an engine chek light on coming and going but the bike was running ok. So I ask them to plug it in to see what error code the bike is showing. To my surprise I was told it is one of many things and the list of new parts was as long as my arm total cost was 1200pounds with labour 1600pounds!! It was throttle bodies servo in the exhaust. I took the bike and done some reasurch on line and found that a common fault is the servo motor in the exhaust valve. The servo or the cables fron the servo get stuck and thet is what is triggering the error code! I bought a servo eliminator unit for 65 pounds took of the servo motor and the cables myself it took me 2 hours after that the bike run fine the error code never happened again!! The dealer wanted to charge me for a jib and parts thet weren't needed!! The reason for it was thet they know that if they are a dealer people will come to them first and they can do and say to you what they want and you will believe them!! Moral of the story is if you have a motorcycle look after it find a independent expert with good reviews if your bike is out of warranty and you going to be fine!! Use forums for cheking for troubles and faults see what other owners had and alweys ask around before paying some for work on Your bike. Best thing about the motorcye community is that we are all happy to help each other and there is plenty of knowledge out there use it and you going to be fine!!

I have heard these exact complaints about Triumph from other RU-vidrs ( I believe it was Stuart Fillingham?) ,an Englishman, who complained that his whole transmission on his new Bonny was not working. Triumph did the same thing: there's nothing wrong with it. The transmission simply doesn't shift!!😭😭 His bike is a now an ornament in his garage. Triumph has one of the worst reputations for reliability & living up to warranties. Stay away from them. Likewise, for those of you in love with "German Engineering, BMW is rated as even rated worse in reliability,,,,,just like their cars.👀🤔😐🥸
