Absolutely stunning series. I learnt REST the hard way (trial and error) and watching this series has allowed me to learn many new things and fill in some knowledge gaps 😅 Really appreciate the effort and the content, delivery and quality is top as always! This is probably the most comprehensive Servicenow content I have seen on RU-vid Will be rewatching this for some time as there is so much to learn from this!
Thank you so much - this is the highest quality learning material that I have come across. Besides being very competent in your area here Jason you seem like a really likable friendly person at the same time - a strong cocktail that can turn on the party you would hope for!
In addition to my gratitude expressed some time ago: Are you a proponent of baking ATF tests into Scripted REST API's. I ask because this learning path seems to tick all the boxes for utilizing ServiceNow functionality as they would have hoped developers would do, and I am under the impression that ServiceNow would also want us to include ATF tests. Not that ServiceNow has all the answers but they try support relevant processes for our digital workflows. For context - Me and my company ServiceNow team actually struggle with spending far to much time making and maintaining tests, and ask our self if it's worth it. Do you find that it is worth it as per the Utah release? Again - thanks for your strong contribution to a better understanding of how to make a solid Scripted REST API.
Sorry for the late reply @praestegaard. The simple answer, in my opinion, is 'yes' - you should include automated tests in every application (including for a Scripted REST API). Use the 'Send REST Request - Inbound' test step. It cannot test OAuth authentication but Postman also has testing capabilities that you can use. IMHO developers should be creating tests when developing. I mean, they have to test their work sometime and somehow, so why not create a test that you can run with one click? For my Vehicles API I would create tests for each method and each version.
