Hey! I have this turntable in my HMV Caprice - My problem is when its auto starting it moves all the way into the middle sometimes only getting the last song of the record, what would cause this? (Bonus question - My speakers are always crackling, even when nothing is playing, volume all the way down. Any help is greatly appreciated)
It figures out the size of the record through the little hook that sticks out in the back. A 12-inch record will push that hook in when it falls into place. A 10-inch pushes it in a bit, and a 7-inch not at all. That means that if you place the record on the mat, and then use autostart, it will assume it was a 7-inch single. So autostart can only be used when you use the changer mechanism, and don't put the record on the mat. Crackling speakers even when the volume is down is the classic sign that your tube amplifier needs to have the capacitors replaced.
Thanks mate! Wish I saw this I blew it 😂 I took the tubes out to clean hoping it'd fix things and put the tubes in wrong. Poof white smoke! No sound now dunno how to fix it so I bought another, got a lot of spare parts now
Mine uses a Unitra/Fonica UF50 or UF70 cartridge, which is a copy of Telefunken T23 or T25. These all take the same type stylus, which you can find modern copies of in many places.
