That 80g servo is crazy heavy! I just use a JX PDI-9180MG 180deg servo and add a resistor. It gets about 300ish deg travel and with the FOV on the FPV camera, allows basically 360deg view. I have it on my albabird if you’re curious to see how it looks. Super simple setup and very lightweight. It works well.
I bought resistors to try that modification. I wonder if the Servo travel tuner is about that same travel as adding that resistor. I will test that some time.
@@nighthawkvs Not sure but just keep in mind, you most likely don't need a full 360deg turn due to your camera FOV. With the resistor, you just have to set the endpoints in ardupilot because the servo will freak out at extreme endpoints. You don't loose any range, you just have to set the limit to right before the twitching starts. At the full endpoints, I can see the tail and over to the opposite side of the plane.
@@NoFlyDrone I suspected the wider FOV would allow me to see behind myself when I was considering building the pan and tilt myself. But I got lazy and just ordered a pre-made one.
@@NoFlyDrone It will be in the forefront of my mind I assure you. I almost went with the simple 90 degrees right and 90 degrees left solution this time in fact. I really do want to be able to build my own. So I can build repair parts. Again, with the Matek FC’s I can add a second camera. I am trying to find a way to get the view I want without adding that weight. Another RunCam Phoenix 2 Micro Joshua Bardwell Edition is only 9 grams. That brings an idea to mind.
