In 1973, the cast of "Sesame Street" recorded a live stage show for the album "Sesame Street LIVE!" Here are a handful of filmed clips, supposedly intended for a CBS News story on the show. Audio drops out of some moments. Don't adjust your volume.
Not unusual for a recorded stage show, multiple takes were done for the songs. In fact, the end product may very well have been a combination of the live show and studio-based recordings.
Featured are Cookie Monster (Frank Oz), David (Northern Calloway), Luis (Emilio Delgado), Mr. Hooper (Will Lee), Susan (Loretta Long), Maria (Sonia Manzano), Bob (Bob McGrath) and (making his only album appearance) Hal Miller as Gordon. Sadly, no footage of the other Muppet characters was included in this reel, but it's pretty cool to have what's here.

Nice find! Always great to see stuff that only people who grew up during the early early years of Sesame Street got to experience it. Now my experience with Sesame Street was during the 80's and early 90's of the show. Now to me those are my favorite to me special seasons of the show. Now everyone will have their own opinion of what they call classic but for me the 80's and early 90's to me will be my Classic Sesame Street. I do enjoy the 70's seasons too. Since I didn't grow up with those seasons they aren't my favorite. My two cents.

That would include those like myself, I am of the Old School SS generation. Such fond memories; OF COURSE I remember Cookie Monster’s ever famous signature song “C is for Cookie!”

@@MrJamieMurph4141969 I'm glad that Sesame Street did re-run certain skits from the early early years of the show during the newer seasons that I grew up with. I'm happy to say that there were several songs and Ernie and Bert skits that I at the time didn't know they were from those older seasons. It makes me smile to see skits that I grew up watching that others got to see it for the first time when the episode originally aired.

A belated 50th anniversary to this live Sesame Street presentation(It’s June 16, 2023 as I post this comment.) Just think, at the time I was four weeks short of turning four, and now I’m 54. How VERY QUICKLY time flies, the older you get.
