Not going to lie I was one of the 2 that made top 64 at Vegas and a big motivating factor was hearing moyen talk about how blue steel is not it and why play it when you can play blue red . I had to prove it wrong, thanks moyen . With love of course 😂❤

Loving the vibe and the chemistry this episode. You two are always great! @moyen Do you think additional judge presence and/or judge intervention at the top ~128 tables in later rounds, as well as announcements at the beginning of those rounds that collusion of any kind will result in a DQ, could help with the situation? I've been to two challenges so far, and I often see judges standing off to the side chatting in a group until someone calls for a judge, instead of walking the rows and looking for signs of cheating and collusion.

For store championships... I was really hoping they would do a non-foil card for 5th-8th... and then the top 4 would get a foil version of the card.... similiar to the DLCs where the prize cards were foil and the non-foil versions could be obtained with tickets....

Meh, set champs shouldn’t get that complicated but hopefully most stores supplement adequate prizing for top 4 to make it worth it. It shouldn’t feel like you’re playing for nothing in top 8 round. At my store that’s at least 6 packs you’re playing for.

I dunno about that being too complicated. I was actually surprised this wasn't what they did since they set the precedent at the challenges for having foil and non foil versions for different placements. Think you could have had best of both worlds if you did non foil 5-8 and foil 1-4. But it probably won't matter too much. People will still want the card and show up. I guess the only real concern would be if a store has theirs towards the end of the month. Every event now creates twice as many people who may say "well I already got the card. I can skip this one". Especially if the actual $ value of the card makes it not super worth getting multiples

Seattle seems like it will be a mini “Worlds.” With a bunch of European players going to it I think we’ll have the most competitive pool of decks for it. Should be interesting to see what comes out on top, because there are pretty obvious differences in deck preferences between the regions.

Love the podcast so my local shop finally got set championship and are doing best of 3 I am going to play ruby amethyst should I try to fit in big sisu because of the Pete impacting the be prepared play of the deck

After the dice-rolling fisco that was going on in birmingham, ill take best of 3 any day. there a rules about people time wasting in most best of three formats. Plus being able to ID 1-2 rounds earlier than any best of three format makes best of two a joke tbh.

Thoughts on an asymmetrical cut? I.e. whoever gets in at 64th place, everyone below them with the same amount of match points plays each other until the 64th place is determined? It’s usually like 2-5 players max

The main issue with that is time. That’s essentially a 10th round. And instead of playing a 10th round for tie breakers it would be better to just have a better criteria for tiebreakers. Unless they did a Bo3 for the tie breakers as the first round of day 2. But those days are already long 😮‍💨
