Set crossflight/Mini Pix/PIXHAWK on Helicopter / Episode 3 Swashplate Setup
Follow the steps in tutorial 2.
First, connect the helicopter to the computer. Select the right COM port and baud rate. Then CONNECT. Connected.
If you are using narrow band tail lock servo, you need to change the frequency of the tail servo. Because it defaults to be wide band.
Search SERVO4_ in Full Parameter List. There are 3 values, min, trim and max. (Set MIN, TRIM and MAX to 450, 750, and 1050 separately. Note: If wide band tail servo is used, no need to set it)
Power on the servos.
Setup--Mandotory Hardware--Heli Setup--Swashplate Setup
--Manual Servo Mode. You can set Max collective, Min collective and Zero thrust collective
If you select disabled, it means you use transmitter to control it. Just like this.
By adjusting the parameters on the screen, you can change Maximum Collective Pitch, Minimum Collective Pitch, and Maximum Cyclic Pitch Angles.
The cyclic pitch is adjusted by Pitch gauge and should be 6 degrees typically.
Besides, you can set the three values here to adjust the level of swashplate and Zero thrust collective.
The adjustment of tail is in servo 4. You can also adjust the maximum, minimum and trim here based on the mechanical structure of your helicopter.
(If the movement of swashplate is reversed, set it here.)
Then adjust the Rotor speed
In general, you need to adjust 3 values.
1.Set Rotor Speed Control Mode to External Gov Setpoint. Because we use ESC for it.
2.Set Critical Rotor Speed to 40%. The common Hobbywing ESC defaults to 40%.
3.Set External Motor Governor Setpoint to 50%, 60%, which means the throttle travel.
In the next episode, we’ll introduce the flight of helicopter.
