It will never not be funny to see people react to Miku who have never seen her before. It's not a remix, that's just what Miku sounds like. She's a computer program. She's not real. It sounds like they synthesized her from an original song into a remix because she's synthesized.
@@fades9105 I think you're confused. Hatsune Miku is a Vocaloid. There is software called Vocaloid that can sing. Hatsune Miku isn't in the latest version of Vocaloid so either they used an older version or there is a product called 'Pocket Miku' that does her voice. The original voice files for Hatsune Miku were recorded around 2008 by a Japanese voice actress named Saki Fujita. Hatsune Miku has sung maybe a million songs.

@@Jordan-Ramses Please don't try to mansplain Hatsune Miku to me. I've been in the Vocaloid/UTAU community since around 2010. Yes tEcHnIcAlLy she's voiced by a voice actress. But this specific video refers to her as a remix of another version of this song, which isn't true. It's just Miku (whose .wav outputs ARE computer generated by the user using the Vocaloid program) on the verse where otherwise Set it Off sings the original verse. Thanks.
Okay, for those who don't know, Hatsune Miku is a Vocaloid voice bank, basically a piece of software to create vocals kinda like text to speech, so anyone can input the lyrics and melodies and make her sing anything, this one is particularly so good tuned that sometimes is hard to notice this is "fake". This is like if the song was featuring Siri.
Also Vocaloid is known for upbeat music with sad or straight-up WTF lyrics so the "happy notes, sad words" is very on brand. Even more generally, J-pop/rock and cover genre is filled with same type of music. Yoasobi has a popular song that sounds very pop but is talking about suicide, Eve has bunch of "I'm tired of life/people" preppy sounding songs, Mafumafu has a fast-paced cover called "Hated by life itself," and X amount of artists putting in societal problems in many methaphors without using a sad instrumental. I'm not saying English songs aren't deep, but it seems many mainstream artists use "sad track=deep" as a default.
For the ones who don't know how arranged Miku in this song, was Vocacircus/CircusP he have a RU-vid channel (VocaCircus) if anyone want to hear more of his music
To explain why this fits so well to someone who knows nothing about Miku and the style of Vocaloid music, most Vocaloid songs sound really happy but are extremely dark and have a depressing message behind them. Her voice is pitched perfectly for this song as well which takes a lot of work to get right in English. It's just a magical bop 🥰. And just incase you don't know Vocaloid is it's a Japanese voice bank software that was recorded by actual Japanese voice actors intended for people to make their own music. All Hatsune Miku/Vocaloid music is made by different people from all over the world using the Vocaloid software. I'm glad you liked the song it really is good to see new people get introduced to Vocaloid through pop culture.
Hatsune Miku is a voice bank for a virtual singer program called "Vocaloid" developed by Yamaha. Which is where the vocals in the beginning of the track come from. It's not post effects added to an actual person singing, but completely synthesized vocals. It's MASSIVELY popular but It's used mostly in Japanese music as the English Miku isn't as polished and the software was developed in Japan. Also Miku is one of MANY different voice banks for the software. She just happens to be one of the originals and the most popular by far. She's basically the face of Vocaloid and has even been in American mainstream TV commercials and has merch sold in department stores.

The high voice isn't actually the other singer pitched up, it's the "Hatsune Miku," they "collabed," with. Hatsune Miku is the mascot for a set of voicebanks for multiple softwares, made from the same actress (we call them "voice providers" in the vocal synthesizers scene). Originally, she came out on the Vocaloid 2 software as the first mascot on that software. Since then, due to her massive popularity, her voice provider has come back to record updated versions for newer versions of Vocaloid, and eventually Piapro Studio. Saki Fujita, the voice provider, worked with Crypton Future Media to give "Miku," voicebanks with different tones and even in different languages. The first voicebank was for Japanese, but as you heard here, she is now capable of singing in English (if tuned correctly). She's also available in Chinese, and using multiple voicebanks of her, people have been able to get her to sing in Korean and Spanish despite her not being designed for that.
This song was the most unexpected thing for me but I love it. Set it off experiments so much and I fell in love with their music about a year ago. I ended up missing one of their shows by a day moving to a new city and was so sad. Really hope you give more of their stuff a listen!

Don't know if you take suggestions, but I think you would enjoy Nathan Sharp's nerdcore songs? Or perhaps his original songs. His more recent "fansongs" are in the perspective of him and how he wants to move on to original things. It's very poetic.
Sorry for posting so many comments, but your comment about liking happy sounding songs with sad lyrics makes me surprised you didn't give Paramore's After Laughter a shot. It's almost all sad lyrics you can dance to.
