I love that I remembered a lot from your old shows correctly--ie, that it used to be better to have machine knitted garments rather than hand-made, and that Arne's buttons on the sweater he had made were pewter. Thank you for teaching us so much about the textiles and history of Norway! Ive learned so much!

Arne, I think it was the Setesdal that you bought in Bergen that you were wearing aboard the ship on the last night and you looked for all the world like a fairytale handsome prince. I think this type of sweater was waiting for you to be born!

You are amazing!! It is beyond me how to make a copy of a sweater without a pattern. I need a pattern for everything. So fun to watch you. Miss seeing you cook together.

The issue I have always had with steeking is not the fear of the process, because I am also a quilter and seamstress so I understand and value the methods of sewing, but because I am like Arne's grandmother because, I know that once a sweater is steeked, the garment cannot be taken apart to re-use the yarn because it has been cut. If I remember Arne's story, his Grandmother always had a new lace sweater, because she took one apart and made a new one... As we age, our taste in patterns change. Also, our physical body changes (the shrunken garments in the closet). My parents came through the depression and valued recycling before the word was known... but they ingrained it into my value system.... By the way, after I watched the videos you made about steeking, I have made 2 sweaters and love them. I just hope I do not change sizes, but I can always make new button bands to increase size if it shrinks in the closet, right?☺

I like the idea of the shield that protects the cloth while you polish the buttons and clasp. Thank you for showing that. I think I will make one from an old plastic or vinyl placemat. Great demonstration on how you experiment to get the correct number of stitches in your personal knitting gauge, too! - Mary

I was sad when we missed the Shetland Islands. But it was nice to have the extra day in Bergen. I put the Shetland islands back on my bucket list. Maybe in 2025. As always nice to see you. Maybe see you ( in person)again, in 2025. I'm hoping you do an Italian garden tour. Love you both!❤

I used your method of making a swatch and figuring out how many stitches I needed to knit the body when I made my Islender, then I steered the armholes and sewed in the sleeves. I love, love, love both the yarn and the fit, so I’m planning to use the same yarn and same number of stitches, but a different chart to make myself a Voss cardigan. All I need to do is figure out what colors to use. Thanks for the tips and inspiration! ❤

Carlo's reaction to the dirt on the silver cloth is the same as when you mop the floor and look at the water afterward. "Look how dirty our floors/these silver buttons were".

Thank you for sharing. I'm so glad the buttons turned out to be silver. I handknit a similar pullover for my son and it was so much woke. I did use finer yarn. Excuse me butting in, but the knitting machine was invented in the 16th Century, in the reign of Queen Elizabeth the First. Are you thinking of the latch needle, perhaps? (1847 - Pat-1849). Looking forward to the next installment.

I'm in love with Dale of Norway sweaters and yarn. Are they the best knitwear or are there other companies I need to get to know. I bought wool over 30 years ago and still wear the jumper I knitted back then.

Sorry but this is not about your episode. Just wanted to share with Carlos that I saw his doppelganger recently in Irish TV Series called Faithless. The actor in question is Baz Ashmawy. Check out the series and hopefully you will also see the resemblance. Love the sweaters. Arne is so passionate about his work. Love you both. I am in Australia.

OK, I’m going to tell you something I bought something from eBay a bracelet. It said it was 925 , also it said that it was sterling silver. My daughter wore the bracelet for a whole year. It turned out that the b of that bracelet was copper the only silver it was on top. It said that it was 22 g of silver, and it turned out to be a whole Lotta copper..
