Jim Croce would be proud to know that his song is living on with Seth & Bob. A unique talent who was taken from this earth way to soon in a plane crash at the young age of 30.
My grandfather was with a group of friends who drove from SHSU in Huntsville, TX to Sherman, TX at Austin College to see him play and they all drank wine and cried on the hill when they learned the news.
It's those types of things that make me love music so much, unconditionally. There's nothing that can describe how it works. It just does. God, I love music so freakin much...
They performed this at the Gorge in Washington state last summer. He changed the words to "operator, you can keep the 2 dollars and 85 cents." That brought a good laugh.
Amen, brother. Unfortunately pain is a part of life, but with God it can go from bitterness and tears to happiness in time, and we can leave the experience as a better and wiser person.
One more reason I love these guy's... I grew up listening to Jim's songs become top 10 hit on the radio and this song is one of my favorites which is brilliantly done here by Seth and Bob!!!... As Jim did in the 60's and 70's, The Avetts sing about everyday life...it's Triumph's and tragedies we all endure in many ways on our many roads through their musical talents!!!
Seth's voice is literally the best voice i've ever heard and a part of me is just so sad that I'll probably never sing as beautifully, but at least I get to hear it
I am with you both! I have been listening to this song as i go through a heartbreak. I am trying to convince myself as well...but i realize that embracing the pain is the only way to learn the lesson of God. That is the only way to GROW through the pain...rather than just go through it. There is a huge difference and thank God i am learning. It would help if the pain would just go away! In due time...i pray it will.
god this is amazing. I like listening to the avett brothers right before bed bc they are so peaceful and true but the problem is I can never put up my computer and end up staying up late and being tired at work all day....but its worth it
Brings me back to 1973 and I can remember hearing about Jim Croce being killed in a plane crash. This is beautiful. "Time In A Bottle"...would love to have them cover that one.
Long live Maury Muehleisen, who's guitar parts are so intrinsic to Jim's songs, that even here, in this splendid performance, I hear his guitar part. I would like to think we all hear it. It's not even necessary for anyone to play it. That's powerful.
+Amy Jay Are you seeing 28 hundred likes and 16 dislikes? Statistically, that means that there are deaf people who liked this video. I assume they used one of those light show dealies like in Mr. Holland's Opus.
i love this song, and i enjoy this take on it, but ya know what, YOU can go fuck yourself, Trump won, and America IS going to be great again. so me, and my crappy tastes will enjoy this nation with YOU and your shitty attitude. btw, Hillary lost, suck on that a while
seth avett! you're incredible! saw you and your brother live a few months ago, y'all changed my life! I wish I Could meet you guys some day. You really are so magical. Keep making beautiful music!
Teacher introduce Jim Croce long time ago, till Now I listen his sone recently, Folk of Father=Jim Croce really classic and sound so good....folk bules rock song
Saw them perform this song live at Chautauqua last year. One of my favorite songs and hadn't heard Seth's cover until that night. It was a great surprise and amazing version. Cant wait to see them again.
Very rarely a performer comes along and does a better job than the original. This guy can write his own check in Nashville when he's ready to play for money. Being true to your roots and dancing with the one that brought you only goes so far.
