I seldom laugh at comedies, this is one movie that actually made me lol! Lots of really funny references. U have to be in the know before u can get the jokes.
It was nice to see Seth Rogen take one of his stupid pot head, poop joke comedies to another level where it's actually raising awareness about something important and doing the world a small service. Even without the controversy, this movie is funny, James Franco kills it in every scene!
Hollywood mostly produces garbage. Most people who work on studio films don't care about the movies. I know this first hand because I've worked on a number of movie sets. Most of those movies exist to generate profit for the studios and the movies' stars and producers. They don't exist to be good movies. And people pay ridiculously high ticket prices to watch them. The Hollywood studio system is a machine designed to generate revenue with as low a financial risk as possible. That's why there are so many sequels, formulas, and trends that get beaten to death. Hollywood sells what sells. Surprisingly, occasionally a good movie actually slips through.

Honestly, James Franco stopping the host and having to interject they he satirized American culture just as much, pissed me off beyond all belief. As much as I like him, when he says shit like that, it just reminds you that he is in fact a spoiled rich kid from Palo Alto, who has no real grasp on the world. That he would feel the need to tell the public he's critiquing the US just as much as if were even in the same fucking ball field as North Korea.
