Update coming back from Moab... Had it in the back of my Gladiator exposed to 105 degree days, dust, and rain storms for 5 straight days running Moab's hardest trails. It did great and never had an issue. Left it plugged in to the Jeep every night and it never hit the voltage cutoff, staying at 32 degrees with the Jeep starting up every morning just fine. Highly recommend!!!
Matt, I just ordered one of these for Fathers Day. Is your demo still going? Specs are pretty good. I replacing an Alpicool that although it works, its temp sensor went out and replacing it was sketchy cuz there’s no specs to work from….fingers crossed this one last more than 2 years!!🤞
Hey there. I just bought this exact setup. The 45Q plus the bluetti EB70 to run it. When I ran my test on a single zone at 35 degrees, the EB70 from 100 to 0% lasted just over 25 hours. Now you mentioned it lasted well over 80+ hours for you so I’m wondering what’s different for me? Is the battery I got from bluetti defective or am I missing something here?
Love my Setpower fridge! I've got the 37 quart version. It's rated to continue running at a 30 degree angle. I've had it every bit of that offroad and it just keeps on going! Setpower is definitely an awesome fridge!
I happened to be looking for a review of this fridge and stumbled across your channel and was like THATS CLOSE TO HOME. I live in southern AR, Crossett to be exact. I own a 2007 Chevy Silverado Classic with a camper shell and solar panel charging a rather large battery. Ive been on the lookout for a fridge to put somewhere and the Dometic was my go to but price is holding me back. Im seriously considering this product based on your review I think it would def be a good product for my rig. Thank you for sharing this.
All my research shows this should fit under a gladiator tonneau cover maybe even with a slide. Do you concur since you have had it on a slide in the bed?
Thanks for the review and savings. Purchase another brand but didn't survive my run from St. George to Vegas overlanding. Just ordered a 45L as a replacement. Love the dual zone.
This seems like it would be perfect for us truckers. I have an APU and a power inverter, but normal wall plug fridges are always too much for the inverter. Been looking for a 12 volt fridge/freezer.
I got one during Prime days too. Only thing I didn’t like was it didn’t come with 2 baskets. I’m still looking for something that fits. I like taking those in to the house to load up.
Hi friend,,,, Thanks and just one favor for your next video, Can you put the freezer on the bed of your Gladiator? I would like to see the space and height it occupies. 1000 Thanks
I have a question that I could not find the answer to on the Setpower web site. If it is simultaneously connected to both an AC and DC power which source would be the primary power, and if the primary power is turned off will it switch to the secondary power source automatically?
Thank you for the review! This is exactly what I need. The price is perfect and 45qrts just right for 1 person. And loved Moab last year. Pushing to go back soon. Safe travels my friend!
Been looking at fridges for a New Mexico trip, found the one to get! thanks for the review and update, love that you review budget friendly stuff, it helps when you have a family of 5!
I have no experience with that fridge but it looks to be twice the price and not dual zone. Engel is a premium brand with a good reputation but definitely not budget friendly.
Sorry I forgot to explain that they make a regular fridge freezer and a combination fridge freezer so you can have both a fridge and freezer at the same time and it utilizes the same inner panel divider. The price is definitely a big clear difference. Thanks for your response.
What would you say is the main advantage for buying a Dometic/ARB over these? To me it seems like they're not worth the $$$ when you have budget versions that equally perform.
It’s kinda like asking the difference between a Chevy and a Mercedes. They both do the same job but one has better parts and build quality than the other. But for the money it’s really hard to justify the Dometic.
Hey Matt, was wondering if this SetPower cooler is still holding up? I just sent back a Euhomey and don't recommend anyone buying that brand. However I think same company make these and just brand different.
Setpower and Iceco are affiliated companies. Iceco makes really reliable products so they apparently aren't using the lowest quality compressors in these budget coolers. I wish they would offer this 45qt. size dual zone design with the Secop compressor in the vl pro series! The placement of the control panel at an angle on the top edge on this setpower seems better to me than the iceco vl45s pro placement at the bottom on the side. This is an ideal configuration, thanks for your informative review. 88 hours in refrigerator only mode on the EB70 is really impressive!!
Iceco comes with the danfoos/secop compressor with 5-year warranty. Iceco makes setpower but comes with haiya compressor found in all US supermarket freezers and fridges with 3-year warranty.
I wish the voltage cutoff was somewhere closer to 11.7 volts or so, 11.1 is pretty low for its "most sensitive" setting. Yikes! The fan in there seems to be higher RPM with a high noise level compared to what it probably ACTUALLY needs, I am going to attempt switching it to a noctua 12v fan that still has a decent cfm air flow rate to quite it down a tad. Our cooler sits pretty close to our heads in our little trailer :) So far this unit seems to be pretty awesome with pretty accurate sensors, too.
I like the D over the S for a couple reasons... being able to flip the lid really easy and the option of the dual zone. I never got to test the S on the EB70. I gave the S to a friend. I like the D so much I sold my Dometic and am keeping it.
The one fault I see, and to me it is a major design fault, is the power input is on the same end as the controls. On a slide out on either side of the vehicle either you can't see the controls quickly or the power cord will be dragging in and out possibly chafing and fraying.
I do agree with that and wish it had the option for the cord in the rear. I've used it in Moab the last 5 days on a slide and didn't have any issues with that but think I will tape the cord up on the side to prevent the possibility of it happening.
That dual-zone compartment divider takes up a lot of space and remember that running any one of these dual zones as a freezer really is going to drain your power source. Fun fact: The 'D' stands for 'Deez nuts!' ;-) That door feature is awesome. I wonder why the efficiency on this model in single zone is so good and so much better than the Dometic?
