Symptoms
In men, hair often begins to recede from the forehead.
Male-pattern baldness
Women tend to lose hair along the part.
Female-pattern baldness
Patchy hair loss (alopecia areata) is sometimes preceded by itchy or painful scalp.
Patchy hair loss (alopecia areata)
Repeated stress on the hair can cause a type of hair loss called traction alopecia.
Traction alopecia
t's becoming increasingly common for menopausal women to experience frontal fibrosing alopecia, in which the hairline moves back.
Frontal fibrosing alopecia
Hair loss can appear in many different ways, depending on what's causing it. It can come on suddenly or gradually and affect just your scalp or your whole body.
Signs and symptoms of hair loss may include:
Gradual thinning on top of head. This is the most common type of hair loss, affecting people as they age. In men, hair often begins to recede at the hairline on the forehead. Women typically have a broadening of the part in their hair. An increasingly common hair loss pattern in older women is a receding hairline (frontal fibrosing alopecia).
Circular or patchy bald spots. Some people lose hair in circular or patchy bald spots on the scalp, beard or eyebrows. Your skin may become itchy or painful before the hair falls out.
Sudden loosening of hair. A physical or emotional shock can cause hair to loosen. Handfuls of hair may come out when combing or washing your hair or even after gentle tugging. This type of hair loss usually causes overall hair thinning but is temporary.
Full-body hair loss. Some conditions and medical treatments, such as chemotherapy for cancer, can result in the loss of hair all over your body. The hair usually grows back.
Patches of scaling that spread over the scalp. This is a sign of ringworm. It may be accompanied by broken hair, redness, swelling and, at times, oozing.
When to see a doctor
See your doctor if you are distressed by persistent hair loss in you or your child and want to pursue treatment. For women who are experiencing a receding hairline (frontal fibrosing alopecia), talk with your doctor about early treatment to avoid significant permanent baldness.
Also talk to your doctor if you notice sudden or patchy hair loss or more than usual hair loss when combing or washing your or your child's hair. Sudden hair loss can signal an underlying medical condition that requires treatment.
People typically lose 50 to 100 hairs a day. This usually isn't noticeable because new hair is growing in at the same time. Hair loss occurs when new hair doesn't replace the hair that has fallen out.

Hey brother how are you liking it? Did you go to a stylist?
@RetroForTheFirstTime

@@murderah17 I went to a stylist to get it installed and styled, but I'm doing the maintenance at home. *expect to make mistakes.. I tore mine already*. But I was able to repair it and it looks fine. I have a couple of shorts up with the system on. As for how I like it. I love it. I was overwhelmed at first, and it was weird seeing myself with hair after 10 or so years with a buzzcut or shorter. It felt like the hair was too "big" or as if it was on top of my head instead of part of my head, but after a few days my eyes got used to it and now it feels super natural. I hear a lot of talk about guys finding their confidence, and looking younger, which is all true. But for me the biggest thing that shocked me was that I "found myself". When I looked in the mirror before, I knew it was me but it felt like it was wrong, or just not accurate. Now with hair, I feel like I look the way I feel, or the way I should. It's honestly been life changing. It hasn't been easy, and there are definitely some obstacles to overcome when you first start, but I 100% don't regret it, and I think more guys should give it a shot!

@Retro For The First Time that's awesome to hear. Im in a position where I can somewhat mask hair loss with toppik but I know the end is coming. Thankfully have a stylist close by...plan on going in for a haircut and to just generally discuss systems this week. I commend you on taking the step forward - I think we are all entitled to do what makes us happy and own it with confidence!!!

@@murderah17 absolutely! One thing I've heard often, is to start with systems early so the transition is less shocking. It's a little hard to deny wearing a system when you go from no hair to a full head! And most guys want to keep it private, but that's why I did it publicly on my TT platform. If I'm open about it, maybe it'll be easier for others to do it privately. It's good you have a stylist you can approach about this stuff and ask questions. Either way, it's not permanent, and that helped me take the leap. I knew if I hated it, I could just take it off, and shave it again and I wouldn't be any worse off. Better than a transplant and hating it.. can't really back out of that. I agree with what you said, do what makes you happy. Good luck with your journey!!

You're looking really healthy and happy, man. So good to see. My scarring alopecia has been kicking my butt lately. It's really hard to keep the mood elevated. I appreciate your positive outlook and good heart.

Hi everyone, i am very worried about my receding hairline and only has negative thoughts these days. I am looking forward to wearing a system, and I don't mind people knowing about it. But is there a chance i won't be able to wear a system because I may be allergic to all tapes and glues. I don't want to believe a hair system will work for me and if it ends up not due to the allergies then I will be even more depressed due to the expectations I had. Is clip on hair system a long term option. Thanks everyone
