He has it pulled up and over so RJ could see the spark, otherwise it would just be dangling down. Not sure why you guys keep doubting this man, he just built his own freaking harness.
Jimmy sounds like that cool professor you have an online class with that actually walks you through examples give you real life applications and delivers the information in a digestible way! 😂😂 Keep up the great content!
I love the sr-z content. Actually have been going back through the entire build series, and it’s crazy to see how the car has progressed. But you gotta get that damn j-spec bumper on there already!
if i remember correctly didn’t this car have problems on the dyno? i feel like i remember this car only making like 250 on the dyno when it should have been more like 350-400. are those problems going to be solved now that the car has a better, more consistent ecu?
Yeah it was a mystery issue. The turbo wasn't blown and the engine wasn't hurt, it was just struggling to make good power. Hopefully the ECU can help with it, but I don't think it was the source for the power issues.
10:57-11:00. "Slim.........Slim like you, Slim!" As RJ looks into the camera I felt he was literally talking to me as my "nickname" is Slim. Been for 20 plus years now. It's so crazy to think my nickname Slim has been that forever lol
Hey, captain Jimmy. Weird question (I have never tuned so pls no flame D: ) Would a faster/more powerful laptop help in the tuning processes or does it just have to work? 🙂
Link ecus are great to work with very user friendly both to wire and setup. They have come such along way since they started out in a little shop just around the corner from were I used to work in Christchurch New Zealand. Very cool to watch you do these videos and I hope you get to run us through some dyno tuning.
So good! AWESOME to see the SR-Z running again!!! I love all your cars/builds, but this is hands-down my favorite one that you've done. Feels good to say I've been here from the start of this one too. Can't wait to see this thing fully done (finishing the few sensors you don't have in yet and dialing the tune in) and ripping.
Please please please get rid of that relay with integrated fuse. I’ve had experience with those on multiple platforms and IT WILL FAIL. They are the cheapest, least reliable relay I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Replace with a nice Tyco or Hella relay PLEASE
Jimmy, why didn't you guys LS swap this instead?....Hey, another question. I have a '95 Z32 TT and the motor is worn. I recently decided to go the LS route. How difficult is the swap? Can you please do a video on the pros and cons of an LS swapped Z32? Thanks.
PLEASE! PLEASE! Get Mike to do a lil beauty shot movie thing about you your shop and of course the cars! 💯 Please hear me Community, we need this! We need a professor Oak's special 🙀
What's up with RJ's beamer? Since your boys help you so much, you should give 1-2 days a week to help them with there cars, specially brian n rj, I'd love to see them hop up there cars
Hey Jimmy I'm likely gonna pick up a 300zx this weekend and I was just wondering what your suspension setup is I was wanting to do a similar type build a kinda stanced cruiser if you would say and I'm just not super familiar with the 300zx suspension but I know my way around a car
I found this channel when you were working in your moms garage putting the v8 in the red z like 5-6 years ago? Moma Oaks is so proud of you Jimbo she is happy to be part of this ! I would love to sit with her some day and just chat over a few beers she is so cool . Some day you should explain where your Dad is , If you were my son I would be right there helping you and bragging to my friends about what a great kid you are , and the accomplishments you have made . Maybe I missed a video with him in it but he is invisible in your life/videos as I see it . That seems sad to me . All my sons friends know me and talk to me, like a friend like yours do with Mom . If you don't want to talk about it don't.I just don't get why he is not here if he is still alive . If he passed away I am sorry I brought up the subject.
Did Jimmy ever get this car tuned over 250HP? Last thing I remember is the car was drastically under powered for the amount of work he put in it and I don't remember seeing a video of him Identifying the issue.
If you weren’t around when Jimmy got this Z please do yourself a favour and watch the old videos! I remember when you picked it up! It’s my favourite car you own!
i cant believe how little wiring a car really needs to run..I'm going through my mk4 gti harness now . trying to delete all the unnecessary shit.. like egr, secondary air, ecs..... and its a nightmare.. I wish I had the money to buy an ecu and new wiring...
So do we think that the SR is gonna make "expected" power now on this ECU ? It seemed to some of us that you lost interest when the dyno power numbers didn't match what the engine should've been making.
The Black Z videos weren't my first videos, but it was that string of videos that got me hooked on watching every single video, and I've kept that streak so far. Definitely one of my favorites that you've got, but when I think about it, I don't think theres a single car in the Jimmy O lineup that I don't like
Please do some special srz merch and do a give away! This is the perfect car to give away! Pays homage to the original z that started the channel but has the oakes sr20 flair!
u were a tad dissapointed with the power it made on the dyno which was weirdly low you said...hope u can get what u want out of it..its a great car like the red one ! tough breaks with the 2 engines poopin on u..sucked ass.. can't wait till the m3 makes it back
The cars you have that run this one is drive the fuck out of and the red ls swap. Js. I wish I could have cars on cars for storage lol. I love this car or well both. Hard to find a good one done right not ragged. Keep up the good work.
Why did you do open loop boost control instead of closed loop? CL will allow the ecu to control the boost controller dynamically instead of just a fixed wgdc for certain rpms and throttle postiton
