I forgot to mention bioactive components! He has orange powder isopods, and springtails. I will probably add Superworms/mealworms + beetles. Im out of leaf litter and need to get more.

What type of leaf litter would you use for this?

@@VanillaMoonshine you can buy leaf litter from amazon or reptile stores like joshs frogs and pangea! I do that and also collect from my backyard since we live on the edge if a forest and I know everything is safe and pesticide free :)

Do you think this setup would be ok for an eastern blue tongue? It looks amazing!

thank you so much! Easterns are an arid species, so you would just need to tweak the set up to be more on the arid Australian side and less on the tropical side :) For arid species I would add more playsand so id do about 40% playsand and 60% organic topsoil. Then you would want to make sure the plants you select will do ok in an arid setup! I recommend reading through reptifiles.com! she has a caresheet for blue tongue skinks and she specifically talks about the different kinds and gives ideas and suggestions for set ups for the different species :)

I also built enclosures like this for my bearded dragon and uromastyx who are both arid, so maybe youll get some ideas from those videos as well :)

@@zareptiles I wouldn’t really consider easterns as arid, maybe semiarid or temperate. There’s some eastern localities like queensland varieties that live in subtropical/tropical areas with humidity requirements the same as northerns. I have 3 easterns and one is a queensland variant and I found that he does better in higher humidity than my others which are a victorian and NSW type that prefer a dryer climate.

the way I clean any new plant! Give it a good rinse down, clean all dirt of the roots, repot, and let sit and essentially quarantine before putting in enclosure :)

I didn’t because it’s a wooden enclosure and I don’t want water sitting in the bottom, but also he digs so a drainage layer wouldn’t work for him. CUC still thrive in his set up though :)
